Outcome: Participants will know how to terminated fiber optic cable with ST, SC and FC connections and will be able to test the results of these terminations using appropriate test and will be able to perform basic installation and troubleshooting tests on fiber optic cable Critical Consequences (C2): Failure to use PPE (safety glasses) when handling fiber optic cable can result in glass splinters entering the eye causing severe damage. A) Eating, drinking where fiber is being prepared can result in injestion of glass fibers that may cause internal bleeding and other medical complications. B) Smoking around fiber optic preparations will cause high losses on the fiber optic system resulting in redoing the connector/splice or lower perform ance of fiber optic system. 1) Failure to follow procedures concerning viewing lasers may result in damage to eyes. 2) Failure to follow safety precautions (MSDS) may result in injury or other hazardous conditions "Ethical Awareness" is integrated into program modules to maintain ethical behavior and enhance the students understanding of our Corporate Values.
