Qualifications: The Transmission Planning Department is seeking to recruit highly motivated and dedicated professional individuals to join the Bulk Power Systems Performance and Analysis Group. Selected candidates must be well organized, detail oriented, able to render sound technical decisions, and be flexible to handle multiple tasks and changing deadlines. The candidates must have strong oral and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with other Engineering organizations and various level of management including coordination with the New York Independent System Operator and/or neighboring electrical utilities. Strong computer skills preferred, including ability to process power load flow, contingency analysis, short circuit analysis programs (PSSE, or ASPEN), MS Office, and other PC-based programs.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering degree is preferred).


Must have a valid drivers' license. Must be able to travel throughout the Con Edison service territory and make field visits when required. Must be able to wear the required PPE when required. Must be able to travel to neighboring utility and industry locations.


Associate Engineer A (1H): Must have 2 years work experience with 1 year of applicable engineering experience.
Engineer (2L): Must have 3 years of applicable engineering experience.
Senior Engineer (2H): Must have 8 years of applicable engineering experience.


The position requires a criminal background check to satisfy NERC critical infrastructure protection requirements. The candidates for this title should have fundamental knowledge and understanding of Engineering principles including the utilization of analytical tools commonly used to analyze the performance of electrical systems. Preferred knowledge of the Con Edison electric service area transmission, distribution and power generating facilities. The S&TO organization pays particular attention to the attendance and performance records of all applicants. Heavy emphasis is also given to those candidates that have greater than 24 month’s tenure in their current role. Applicants who do not meet this threshold may not be considered.


Responsibilities: The selected candidate may be required to: coordinate, perform, and communicate the results of planning studies and evaluate the results of studies performed by others relating to the current and future operation/design of the Con Edison integrated electric power system; evaluate results, and recommend system modifications/upgrades; conduct economic analyses of transmission alternatives; evaluate reliability benefits of alternative plans, provide technical expertise and guidance; May be required to act as a Manager during the absence of Section Manager. Will represent the department on internal and external committees, teams and task forces and at regulatory proceedings.

Engineering and regulatory experience in transmission planning and/or the related areas of transmission operation, electrical engineering and reliability analysis is highly desirable.


Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to travel throughout the Con Edison service territory and make field visits as needed. Candidates must be able to travel to Albany and Washington D.C. as well as to neighboring utilities.

Responsibilities: The Transmission Planning Department performs its planning functions in an environment that requires interfacing with major organizations such as FERC, the NYISO, the NYSRC and the NY PSC as well as internal company organizations. There are also opportunities to influence new rules and regulations to further company positions. The selected candidate will coordinate, perform, and communicate the results of planning studies and evaluate the results of studies performed by others relating to the current and future planning/design of the Con Edison integrated electric power system: assist in the determination and advancement of company positions on transmission system planning and reliability with outside organizations such as FERC, NYISO, NYSRC and NYPSC; Conduct reliability analyses of transmission alternatives; provide technical expertise and guidance. Required to act as a Manager during the absence of Technical Leader. Represent the department on internal and external committees, teams and task forces and at regulatory proceedings. Perform other duties as assigned.

Previous engineering project management experience preferred.

Qualifications: System Operations is looking to hire a dedicated professional who is committed to deliver exemplary customer service. The candidate must possess working knowledge of personal computers, mainframe systems and various computer applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of work experience or a Master’s degree and 2 years of work experience. Must have the related work experience in an electric power system, bulk power system or steam operation environment or in a field associated with training or teaching.

Experience with NERC Standards and Compliance is a plus. Documented qualification in instructional capabilities for teaching adults is preferred. Experience with writing job tasks, knowledge and skill objectives, test questions, job performance measures and other training related material is a also a plus. Knowledge of training program development utilizing the ADDIE process or Department of Energy’s Systematic approach to training is strongly preferred. The position requires a criminal background check to satisfy NERC critical infrastructure protection requirements, psychological testing, and a medical exam. The S&TO organization pays particular attention to the attendance and performance records of all applicants. Selected candidate is expected to acquire NERC certification within one year of position acceptance.

Responsibilities: This trainer’s position will assume a support role and report to the primary bulk power trainer. The responsibilities of this position are essentially to support the overall bulk power training efforts. Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Commitment to the Way We Work Principles, and adheres the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. maintain and add to the Bulk Power Operator job task analysis and learning objective database to reflect administrative and technical-driven changes to Bulk Power Operator duties and responsibilities. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop lesson plans on technical and operational subjects. Conduct instruction with Bulk Power Operators that will be delivered in one-on-one, small group or self-study forums Research, develop, administer, and implement Bulk Power Operator training programs to develop and enhance the skills of incumbent and new operators, applying new methods, tools, and techniques as appropriate to ensure safe and reliable operation of the Bulk Power system. Continuously improve the existing Bulk Power Training Program by refining the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation processes. Develop and maintain training records for all program participants as well as maintaining compliance with NERC standard PER-005 Conduct periodic reviews (audits/drills) of Bulk Power operators' performance to measure the effectiveness of the Bulk Power Training Program. Participate in regional and national forums on Bulk Electric System Operation training in order to keep abreast of industry changes and best practices to strengthen operator performance and to improve continuously. Develop and administer documentation and procedures for compliance of reliability standards, advising management and staff of related issues and updates to ensure understanding and compliance. Standards include, but not limited to: North American Reliability Council (NERC), and/or New York Independent System Operator (NYISO).
