Qualifications: Purchasing is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual as a procurement specialist. Successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field of study with a minimum of two years procurement experience of engineered equipment or materials, services or construction related services. Superior analytical skills that have been demonstrated either in a rigorous curriculum or in a workplace setting are required. Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to customer service, the ability to use the internet for communication and research, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint. Excellent oral and written communications are required, including negotiation skills. The candidate must also have a demonstrated ability to accept challenges and use creative thinking to analyze data and recommend solutions.
Responsibilities: The selected candidate will: Handle procurements of equipment, services, and supplies including: reviewing requirements and requisitions, managing a supplier base, including qualifying new vendors and developing new sources of supply as required, preparing invitations for bids and determining the basis of award, evaluating priced bids, including any terms and conditions of purchase, conducting negotiations, and preparing the necessary support material Manage contract terms and vendor relationships during the life of the contract including: monitoring contracts, reviewing non-catalog order releases to ensure contract compliance, assessing new requirements for inclusion in existing contracts, meeting with user organizations to ensure their needs are met Prepare related analysis and reports such as market analyses, business requirements, category strategies, market baskets, and bid analysis spreadsheets.All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as required to various Con Edison and Orange & Rockland Utilities, and supplier locations, some of which may require overnight travel. Candidates must be availab1e to perform off-hour emergency buyer functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.
