Qualifications: The Law Department’s Labor, Employment, Benefits and Workers’ Compensation Group is seeking an attorney with expertise in Workers’ Compensation and related employment matters. The position requires a minimum of four to seven years of current workers’ compensation litigation experience before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board. The candidate must have experience providing advice on and handling workers’ compensation legal and administrative issues, including third-party administration matters, self-insurance compliance requirements, settlements, third-party liens and recoveries. A JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar is required. Must possess excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Responsibilities: With minimal supervision, the candidate will represent the company in litigation of workers’ compensation matters before various state courts and administrative agencies. Provide legal counsel and training on all workers’ compensation matters to in-house clients, outside counsel and the company’s third-party administrator. Provide oversight of the company’s third-party administrator and outside counsel. Ensure compliance with New York State Workers’ Compensation laws and regulations, including self-insurance requirements. Supervise the company’s workers’ compensation staff
Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel to various company location as needed.
