Qualifications: Talent Management is seeking a dedicated professional who is highly motivated, resourceful, and articulate with a strong commitment to excellence to join our team as the Section Manager for Organizational Development. The selected candidate must have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Management or a related field with a minimum of 8 years related work experience and a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
Excellent presentation, facilitation, oral and written communication skills; experience with Microsoft Office applications – Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word; demonstrated high energy level, flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments while working under tight deadlines; strong organizational, administrative, decision making and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and a solid teamwork orientation; demonstrated professional demeanor, confidence dealing with all levels of management/union personnel and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Experience developing and implementing one or more of the following programs in organizational development, strategic planning, employee and management training, conflict resolution, leadership and career development, coaching, process facilitation, organizational intervention or other areas aimed at strategically improving the performance of an organization and its employees; experience with design, development and implementation of learning development
The successful candidate must also have Demonstrated proven leadership skills, the ability to coach, motivate, develop and direct the activities of a team of high performing professionals and the demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise discretion and sound judgment while providing quality customer service.
Knowledge of Organizational Development theory; and certification in the administration and interpretation of behavioral assessments, i.e. Meyers Briggs Type Indicator, 360 assessments are preferred.
Advanced degree is a plus.
Must have a valid driver's license, and be willing and able to travel within the Con Edison service territory as required.
Responsibilities: The Section Manager will direct the activities of a team of internal consultants/ specialists to manage organizational development (OD) strategies and processes as well as learning and development programs; provide a broad range of organizational development programs and services to all employees including leadership courses, mentoring programs, conflict resolution and collaboration services and career counseling and identify the most efficient and cost effective method for developing and delivering these programs.
You will act as a change agent responsible for developing and implementing organizational effectiveness strategies for all levels of management and employees by using an influential and innovative approach to affect major organizational initiatives, and address various needs associated with organizational change through persuasion, coordination and explanation; facilitate career development process/ meetings with upper management to identify a diverse pool of candidates to support the company’s succession planning; research and design organizational development projects and management development training programs through identification of industry best practices to maintain state-of-the-art Leadership and Career Development Programs and where applicable, contract with outside consultants/vendors; manage the development and implementation of appropriate education resources and training methods to deliver organizational development and leadership programs (including traditional instructor led training, web casts, e-Learning, etc.); manage employee forums such as the Strategic Issues Seminars (SIS), Technically Speaking Seminars (TSS) and Women of Con Ed (WOCE) sessions and maintains a cadre of guest speakers and SMEs (subject matter experts) for these seminars and partner with organizations to develop/ deliver planning days, offsite and team-building sessions.
Additionally the Section Manager administers and oversees processes for the company-wide mentoring programs: Corporate Mentoring, Executive Mentoring and Women in Non-Traditional Careers; plan, assign, monitor and evaluate work of assigned staff; plan, direct, implement and evaluate training and development activities; conducts and coordinates data collection (research, surveys, meetings, focus groups); create and implement tools to capture data to help monitor and measure effectiveness of training, services and interventions; and operates within the O&M and human resources budgets by managing expenditures and workloads. You will also be responsible for attainment of department KPIs (Key Performance Indicators); ensure compliance with the Standards of Business Conduct and EEO policies, procedures and guidelines; and support the implementation of and adherence to safety, health and environmental programs in accordance with company policy and government regulations.
