They will perform mandated inspection programs and respond to emergency calls. Qualifications: Gas Operations, Emergency Response Center, is seeking an Operating General Supervisor. A High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of five years of work experience in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and safe restoration of the gas distribution system is required. Supervisory experience is also required. Proficiency in the Company’s computer systems and with PC applications is required. Must be able to evaluate and prioritize emergency conditions on the Gas Distribution System and make timely notifications to senior management and the various Regulatory Agencies, as required. Candidates must have a solid understanding of the operation, repair, and safe restoration of the Gas Distribution System, as well as a solid understanding of gas distribution services in general. Must possess extensive knowledge of all safety and environmental procedures. The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, decision- making, and communication skills (oral and written) to effectively interact with Field Forces, ERC personnel, Corporate Management, Customers, and representatives of the various Regulatory Agencies. Must have extensive knowledge of EH&S policies and procedures.


Computer proficiency in PC applications and Computer Dispatch is preferred. Prior dispatch and control center experience preferred.• Prior supervisory experience required.


Must be able to work a full-rotating shift and possess a valid driver’s license.






Responsibilities: The Operating General Supervisor will ensure that ERC employees under his/her supervision adhere to all Company Safety and Environmental procedures. Will ensure that all mandated regulatory notifications are made as required. Will ensure that subordinate’s work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner.


The Operating General Supervisor will supervise, direct, and coordinate the dispatch activities of emergency GDS crews in response to customer odor complaints. The candidate will assist field forces in identifying facilities during system emergencies to facilitate a safe and timely restoration. Must document all gas incidents in Gas Operations’ Incident Management System (IMS) and follow-up with Gas Field personnel tp ensure the accuracy of the information. He/she will plan, organize, schedule, and assign personnel to meet operating needs in order to optimize productivity, control expenditures, and, when necessary, provide periodic reports to Gas Operations management. Candidate will enforce Company policies and procedures as they relate to EEO, Chemical Substance Abuse, Discipline, Environmental, and Productivity. May perform other related assignments as required.

Responsibilities: Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Develop innovative and effective strategies to improve the way we do business – partnering with the operating areas to implement change (i.e. conduct training). Work with internal computer applications including GIS, ECS, Byers, Data Warehouse and CAD. Coordinate with Quality Assurance team to present/ communicate review findings and/ or lessons learned to operating areas and senior management. Provide other analytical and administrative support as required.

Qualifications: The Gas Customer Conversion group is looking to hire a Specialist to join its Strategic Support group. Responsibilities: In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Serve as the Company’s case manager by tracking and monitoring the progress of Company and customer work for all oil to gas conversions. The candidate will also serve as the project coordinator amongst the various company departments; analyze and evaluate new and additional gas load requests, and ensure that information provided by a customer is complete. The candidate will prepare customer service layouts and advise the customer as to how the Company will install/modify a building’s gas facility; authorize changes as appropriate; provides the customer with all rate options applicable and the costs and service requirements for each rate; understands the gas process flow in order to provide customer with appropriate feedback as necessary throughout their projects; have an understanding of the company’s relationship with internal and external organizations and maintain such relationships to ensure that conversion projects are completed in a timely manner. The candidate will also prepare and maintain correspondence with the customer; serve as the liaison between the customer and the Company; Coordinates with Gas Conversion Operations to ensure field visits are completed; have the flexibility to complete special projects as assigned; and have an understanding of Area Growth and coordinate with Gas Marketing & Sales to track specific conversion projects within zones. The candidate will also maintain and prepare reports to track the entire portfolio of gas conversions managed by Strategic Support.

Job Requirements: Working under the guidance of the Operating General Supervisor, candidates must have the ability and confidence to provide timely response to trouble calls in order to mobilize field crews in the cases of gas leaks and emergencies.


Qualified candidates must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a mechanical, electrical, or technical discipline. In lieu of an Associate’s Degree, candidate must have a High School Diploma and at least 2 years dispatch and/or operational work experience. Technical knowledge and experience in reading & interpreting Mains & Services plates and knowledge of Con Edison's Environmental, Health and Safety procedures is preferred.


Selected candidates should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to interface with other organizations/agencies. Must be detail oriented and able to multitask under stressful conditions. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates will be required to operate a computer, and interface with company mainframe systems and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Computer Aided Dispatch Systems is preferred.


This position is a full rotating shift.

Physical Requirements: Applicant must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to respond to system emergencies (weekends, holidays, off-hours).
