Qualifications: The Energy Markets Policy Group, which advocates for fair and transparent electricity and natural gas markets on behalf of the Company and its customers before regulators and industry groups, is seeking an analyst to join its Management team. The ideal candidate will have an awareness of wholesale energy markets. Candidate must be a self-starter able to confidently exercise independent judgment to render sound business decisions. Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines. The successful candidate must be an energetic and assertive person with an unwavering commitment to our Code of Conduct and The Way We Work. Must also have a positive work ethic and customer service viewpoint consistent with our corporate values and mission.A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or the equivalent with 2 years of relevant work experience is required. A graduate degree is preferred. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and as a speaker, read lengthy regulatory proposals and related reports, develop and recommend policy positions, and work cooperatively on teams within and outside the Company. Some level of experience with or knowledge of wholesale electricity and/or natural gas markets, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission priorities and processes, is desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
Responsibilities: Assist EMPG staff in monitoring, assessing, and communicating developments in the regulation of wholesale electricity and natural gas markets. The staff member will be required to proactively and creatively analyze proposals to determine their potential impact on the Company and its customers. Analysis will rely on independent research, quantitative evaluations, and input from outside and internal stakeholders, including Company executives and senior executives. Assistance in preparing presentations, written reports and supporting materials for meetings is also required. Valid driver's license is required. Some travel is required. Salary Range: $61 to 65K.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Business Administration or Public Policy is strongly preferred. A candidate with a diversity of experience, including utility operations and interaction with state utility regulators is strongly preferred.
A candidate with knowledge of the electric and gas energy markets, state and federal energy policy issues including familiarity with state regulatory frameworks and rate base regulation is desired. A foundational background of electric, gas and steam distribution systems is also desired.
The position demands a high level of writing and communication skills, as well as knowledge of analytical techniques. The ability to construct well-reasoned arguments buttressed by relevant facts and analysis to support Company goals and policies is the essence of the position. The Project Specialist should be relatively proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. The Project Specialist must be comfortable and skilled at developing effective presentations. The position requires the successful candidate to work closely with subject matter experts, inside and outside the Company, and the Project Specialist must have good interpersonal skills in order to effectively participate in such collaborations.
The State Regulatory Affairs Group is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its team. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position understands state public utility regulatory structures and policies, and possesses a clear understanding of how actions by state public utility regulators impact the Company. The candidate must also be able to exercise independent judgment while working in a team environment and render sound business decisions. Must also be well-organized and detail oriented, flexible, handling multiple assignments simultaneously while meet required deadlines. The candidate must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence and possess a high regard for Con Edison's Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with various levels of management and representatives of outside organizations. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to read and summarize lengthy documents. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills for use in conducting technical and financial studies and preparing energy research reports. The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Liberal Arts or Science. Three to five years’ experience in the utility business is required.
Responsibilities: At the direction of the manager, conduct analysis to support draft whitepapers related to energy policy issues, with a particular focus on state energy topics or topics where state regulatory policy is critical to developing the Company’s position on the topic. Manage the State Regulatory Affairs SharePoint site with emphasis on encouraging use by Company employees and providing concise information that will make the site relevant to Company employees. Manage the outreach process to share information with Company employees interacting on strategic matters with the Company’s utility regulators. During system events, this may include working with electric operating areas to understand Company actions with the goal of supporting the group’s communications to regulators. Coordinate efforts with Government Affairs and other departments to develop analysis to support Company positions regarding legislative proposals. Execute special projects as needed, with an emphasis on fact-based data analysis and information sharing. Develop content for the major communications outlets used by the Energy Policy & Regulatory Affairs group, including weekly, monthly and quarterly regulatory update meetings, bi-weekly and monthly newsletters, and the State Regulatory Affairs SharePoint site. Perform analysis, as directed, of impact of new policies on Con Edison and its customers.
