Qualifications: Construction seeks an industrious individual to join its management team as a Chief Construction Inspector (CCI), in the Generating Stations, Facilities, Remediation, and Demolition sections of the Central Construction department. The successful candidate must possess strong decision making skills have flexibility to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Must promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values and Mission, and be committed to environmental excellence and safety in the workplace. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Strong negotiation skills are required. The successful candidate must have construction or engineering experience in one of the following areas, generating stations, facilities, and/or remediation construction. Candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of construction work practices, safety and environmental procedures, and estimating methods.The ability to interpret relevant drawings and specifications is required. Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Outlook and Visio is required. Bachelor degree and 3 years in construction operations or HS diploma/GED and 5 years experience in construction operation is required. Must be able to obtain Project Monitors license within 24 months of hire.

Engineering degree is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Chief Construction Inspector (CCI) ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy and governmental regulations. The CCI will supervise the work efforts of Construction Representatives and Inspectors engaged in all aspects of contract administration and inspection. Ensure that all contractor work is performed in a timely and efficient manner, and in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as the established company standards. Monitors the contractors work to conform to stipulations required by applicable permits. Minimizes quality of life issues for the community we serve and tracks and controls project costs. Provides quality control oversight of contractor activities and reviews and administers billing and documentation required for payment. Ensures work accruals are accurately completed in a timely manner. Researches new methods of performing work to improve productivity and quality that originates in any of the five boroughs or Westchester. Monitors performance to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIís) are met. Comply with the company Equal Employment policies and procedures.

A valid driverís license is required for this position. Selected candidates must use their personal vehicle and transport, store and secure company laptop computers and other job related equipment. Reimbursement for use of personal vehicle will be provided through the company mileage procedure. Must be able to extensively walk, stand, and climb. Must be able to respond to emergencies (weekends, holidays, off-hours). Must be medically approved to wear respirator (as required with the asbestos project monitor license).

Qualifications: Central Construction is looking to recruit highly motivated, industrious and resourceful individuals to join the Facilities Construction team as Chief Construction Inspector. The successful candidates must be self-starters, responsible, articulate, and able to exercise good judgment and render sound business decisions. Knowledge of and experience with environmental laws and regulations, and OSHA rules and regulations for construction, to ensure environmental, health and safety compliance is required. Must demonstrate a positive work ethic in support of the Corporate Values and Mission, and be able to work toward meeting the department goals and Key Performance Indicators. Strong oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills is required to effectively interact with internal and external customers, including contractors, regulatory officials, community representatives. In addition, the candidates must have the flexibility to handle multiple assignments and ensure that project schedules and budgets are maintained. Familiarity with and the ability to read, interpret, apply and enforce Con Edisonís drawings, specifications, and procedures is required. Knowledge/experience in contract administration, contract and material procurement and permitting processes and procedures is required.

Bachelorís degree and 3 years work experience, or H.S. Diploma/GED and 5 years work experience in the construction management field is required. Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft office products, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project. Selected candidates will be required to take and pass the courses mandated for this position and other training such as asbestos monitor, lead competency, work permits and incident command when necessary.

Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Chief Construction Inspector (CCI) plans, directs, and supervises the activities of contractors performing various types of projects for construction. Ensures that all work is performed in strict compliance with all the applicable company specifications, standards, and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements. Acts as the Construction Supervisor or as an individual inspector on these projects and will have the major field responsibility for seeing them through to successful completion. Conducts field inspections to ensure that all company facilities are protected, supported and maintained in accordance with all engineering specifications. Must be totally familiar with all of the contract bid requirements/documents, and must interface with design, engineering, purchasing and estimating to obtain any required information and to resolve and correct technical, field or contract issues. Monitors all project costs and provides timely and accurate data and documentation required for contractor payments. Keeps accurate records, utilizing daily logbooks and computers, and provides data for monthly accrual requirements, schedule tracking and change order work. Ensures that all contract changes are processed in accordance with the Contract Administration Manual, and that all contractor performance is reported through the Contractor Oversight System. Negotiates with contractors and customers to reach fair resolutions. Maintains a flow of communication with peers and superiors and advises them immediately of any potential problems, extras, damages, injuries, or incidents with either regulatory officials or the public. Ensures that all company-supplied equipment or materials are ordered and delivered in sufficient time to meet the project schedules. Ascertains that contractors are manning the projects properly, and if not, take the necessary steps to ensure that they are. Reports all infractions as required by procedure and regulations to managers. Takes proactive action to ensure that all work is performed with the goal of zero injuries, and to minimize the potential for any environmental or community problems. Treats all regulatory and/or enforcement officials and public representatives with courtesy and professionalism, and ensures that their inquiries and requests are addressed fairly.

Position requires a valid driver's license to travel between various work locations within the Co Ed service territory. Position requires use of a personal vehicle on a mileage basis if no company vehicles are available. Position requires walking and climbing and candidates must be able to wear the proper PPE. Working nights, weekends, and holidays is also required.

Job Requirements: This position requires a two-year technical degree, preferably in Civil Technology or related disciplines, or equivalent work experience. Successful candidate will have the ability to read and interpret maps and drawings and be capable of operating various survey instruments (total stations, level, M-scopes, etc.). Candidate should also have competency in the use of Auto-Cad in order to generate various types of drawings.

Survey Technicians assist Surveyors with mathematical computations and field sketches. Applicant selected for this position must have strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with other departments, including various city and state agencies relative to land records, easement grants, and topographical data. Applicant must have the ability to learn advanced survey and mapping software.

Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to use a personal vehicle. Reimbursement is given according to company mileage procedure. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions. Selected applicant must be able to respond to emergencies and must be medically approved to wear a half-face respirator. This job requires extensive walking, standing, and stair/ladder climbing. Must be able to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
