Qualifications: The Compensation department is seeking to recruit a Specialist for its Corporate office. The successful candidate needs to be well organized, highly motivated, self-reliant, resourceful and articulate. A Bachelor’s Degree is required (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, Human Resources or related field is preferred). A minimum of 2 years related work experience is required. Must have strong analytical, technical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with solid working knowledge of Excel is required. Prior experience with MS Visio and Project, PeopleSoft, E-hire and other HR programs are a plus. Must be able to balance priorities. Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines. Must possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills. Must demonstrate excellent administrative and organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner. Must have the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff and various levels of management. Must be willing and able to learn new regulations related to compensation and integrate them into projects and programs. Must be willing and able to learn PC based programs, mainframe databases and introduce system efficiencies into current processes.


Must have a valid driver’s license. Willing to travel within the Con Edison service territory.

Responsibilities: The Specialist will participate in the annual review of management salary programs. Performs studies, presents analyses and prepares Excel spreadsheets as required. Provides support in the preparation of confidential reports for officers and management employees. Helps conduct and participate in salary surveys. Interprets data and prepares analysis and recommendations based on information received. Researches laws, regulations, and policies relevant to compensation. Works with the Human Resource (HR) Generalists on the filing of job descriptions (i.e. position guides) for both CECONY and O&R. Maintains and updates organization charts as appropriate. Supports the administration of equity plans. Utilizes strong Excel, Power Point, and Word computer skills to input and retrieve information from the Company’s mainframe financial systems to develop and display salary information in a clear and concise format. Prepares and updates annual studies and programs as required. Represents the Compensation department in a team environment with others or on committees as assigned. Is available to work on teams/committees and makes presentations. Communicates regularly and maintains relationships with HR Generalists and the HR Service Center. Participates in the company’s energy management processes and storm plans as required. Performs other related assignments as required.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Computer Science is preferred) with a minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience in budgeting and accounting, finance, salary administration, and/or incentive compensation. Must have strong interpersonal, analytical and technical skills with a strong demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications. Prior experience with PeopleSoft, E-Hire and other HR programs a plus. Should be able to balance priorities, be well organized, detail oriented, highly motivated, self-reliant, resourceful and articulate. Should demonstrate flexibility to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, exercise good judgment and render sound decisions. Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrate excellent administrative and organization skills and the ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner. Have the ability to effectively interact with customers, support staff and various levels of management. Willing and able to learn new regulations related to compensation and integrate them into projects and programs. Work well in teams and be willing and able to participate in cross functional teams, as required.

Responsibilities: The Sr. Specialist will administer Compensation Programs for management employees and executives. Responsibilities include: preparing statistical reports for officers stock ownership requirements and outside director’s compensation, approving job offers, conducting job evaluations, analyzing salary data, reviewing position guides, administering salary guidelines, and establishing supervisory differential and shift premium compensation guidelines. Work with HR Generalists to determine instructor premium (i.e. Instructor Pay Parity) eligibility for employees. Review and approve HR payroll transactions as appropriate. Develop, conduct and participate in salary surveys. Interpret data and prepare analysis to support recommendations. Ensure compliance with compensation programs as well as with internal Company policies and procedures. Review, interpret and integrate technical plan provisions and regulations relating to Compensation. Is available to work on teams/committees, make presentations and conduct training sessions as well as communicate and interface regularly with other departments in HR. Participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required. Perform other related assignments as required.
