Job Requirements: An AAS degree in Electrical Technology or a minimum of 2 years equivalent and relevant technical experience and a high school diploma are required for this position. The selected candidate must have a thorough understanding of DC electricity, as well as basic knowledge of AC electricity. This candidate must be able to read electrical schematics, must have basic knowledge of computer systems and must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials 40-60 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather. The candidate must be able to qualify for a CDL class B drivers license and become qualified to test and maintain pole mounted electronic controls from a bucket truck. The group the candidate will be assigned to also performs a wide variety of test and inspections on the distribution system which include Power Quality, Thermographic Surveys.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift, bend, push and pull objects up to 50lbs. Must also have the ability to climb ladders. Must be available for emergency and storm work. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to work overtime and if need be various shifts.

Qualifications: Brooklyn/Queens' Field / Substation Operations Department is looking to hire an Operating Supervisor to join its Management team. The successful candidate must be energetic and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to our Code of Conduct and The Way We Work. Must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic and customer service mentality in support of our corporate values and mission. Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related work experience or 3 years of demonstrated technical experience in Electric Construction or Operations or a High School Diploma and 5 years experience or 5 years of demonstrated technical experience in Electric Construction or Operations related to the operation, design, and maintenance of electric distribution systems is required. 2-5 years’ experience in an Electric Operations Organization with knowledge of Field Operating Theory, Safety, Fault Locating, Identifications of Cable and Apparatus, Phasing, Grounding, High Voltage Switching, NWP Operations, Unit Switching, and Proof Testing is preferred. This individual must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business and technical decisions. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to effectively interact with various levels of management, union personnel, high profile customers, as well as outside Emergency agencies. Must be able to supervise employees, manage productivity, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Must have the ability to understand and interpret field constructed drawings and layouts. Must possess working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft technologies and scheduling software.

The candidate should be familiar with working knowledge of General Instructions Governing Work on System Electrical Equipment, System Operations Procedures, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities: Ensures the safe, timely, efficient, and reliable operation of the electric distribution system. Monitor all distribution and transmission feeder activity as well as operations associated with Unit and Multibank Substations. Directs Field Operators / Substation Operators and other subordinate titled personnel in the location of feeder faults and the positive identification, marking and tagging of feeders and phases, as appropriate. Ensures that all high and low tension switching operations are performed in compliance with operating procedures and engineering plans and specifications. Responsible to see that work activities are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Ensures availability and timely delivery of materials, supplies, tools and equipment. Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns personnel to meet operating and climatic conditions. Responsible for compliance of all environmental laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures, including proper storage, handling, transport, and disposal of hazardous material and to promptly report violations or release of hazardous materials into the environment. Enforces Company procedures such as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), substance abuse, discipline and security. Must support and possess extensive knowledge of all safety, “Rules We Live By”, and environmental procedures. Certifies, accounts for and approves expenditures for labor, material, supplies and equipment within prescribed limits.

Must hold a valid driver's license and be willing to travel within the Company’s’ service territory. Must be available for overtime. Must be able to work outdoors and under extreme weather conditions. Candidate must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts. Must be able to wear a respirator. Must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
