Qualifications: Gas Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Knowledge of 16 NYCRR 255 AND 49 CFR 192 is required. Must be task oriented with good financial and analytical perspective. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Either the possession of, or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions. PE License and Project Management experience are preferred. Knowledge of Byers or Vision is also preferred.



ASSOCIATE ENGINEER-A (1H): Bachelor of Science in Engineering and at least 2 years of work experience in engineering, construction, or other operations area is required. ENGINEER (2L): Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5 years relevant work experience of which 2 years in engineering, construction, or other operations area, with 1 year of management experience in same areas is required. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires Bachelor of Science in Engineering and at least 8 years of work experience in engineering, construction, or other operations area, with 3 years of management experience in same areas is required.

Responsibilities: Core: Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. As an employee, you need to commit to these ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all our stakeholders. Developing, prepare and track business plans, goals, master plan, rate case items, budgets, etc. Analyze trends and information and make recommendations from own or other’s programs to determine overall effectiveness and the need to modify, add, or delete programs. Prepare and revise Company specifications in conformance with PSC, DOT, OSHA and other laws and regulations. Provide interpretation of specifications and codes. Support R&D projects and industry developments associated with gas construction, distribution and maintenance. Provide engineering guidance to field personnel in any area or department and acts as the Company’s representative when dealing with external organizations, agencies, etc. Write technical reports and conduct technical presentations to all levels of management. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to travel to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather as required and wear the associated PPE. Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes as required.

Qualifications:



An AAS degree in Electrical Technology or a minimum of 2 years equivalent and relevant technical experience and a high school diploma are required for this position. The selected candidate must have a thorough understanding of DC electricity, as well as basic knowledge of AC electricity.



Responsibilities:



This candidate must be able to read electrical schematics, must be proficient in the use of laptop computers, familiar with computer/ laptop technology and must have excellent oral and written communication skills. 

 

Physical Requirements:



The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials 40-60 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g. extreme heat and noise, confined spaces, etc.) and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver’s license is also required.
