The Analyst (1H) is responsible for collecting and analyzing data and preparing the Gas Operations trends and engineering statistical books. The Analyst will review results and recommend modifications to existing procedures. Create and modify reports and data verification methods to enhance the Distribution Integrity Management program. Candidate must have an Associate’s Degree. The Senior Analyst in this position will also assist in planning, managing and implementing the Rate Case programs. This includes working with the vendor to upgrade and improve the prioritization program and manage the various programs (ECS, Vision, etc.) that interact with the model.

As a result of the significant growth associated with New York City’s Clean Heat heating oil conversion regulation and planned Westchester expansion, will perform analysis and propose system reinforcement recommendations resulting from the projected increased demand for cleaner burning gas over the next 20 years. Will be responsible for monitoring winter system performance, performing main replacement sizing studies, recommending short and long term system reinforcement, winter load relief, new regulator stations, and evaluating new business requests and other major projects. Will be required to make these recommendations based on a sound economic and cost benefit evaluation for inclusion in the annual capital budget. Will also provide engineering support for emergency field requests, R&D projects and initiatives, and assist various internal and external organizations including Gas Distribution Services, Gas Construction, Energy Services, Law Department, Tax Department, Public Improvement and Construction. Will also evaluate system improvements associated with major municipal projects such as the NYC Water Tunnel and the 2nd Avenue Subway Projects and have the opportunity to visit field locations during gas relocation construction.

Applicants for this position must have at least 2-5 years of gas related experience. These applicants must be able to perform as contributing mechanics with the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of gas regulating and monitoring equipment. Responsibilities:

These applicants must have working knowledge of environmental requirements associated with the above activities. The use of hand and power tools will be required. Applicants must possess basic mechanical/electrical skills such as: -Tubing bending -Installation of conduit -Pipefitting -Flange on fitting connections -Screwed piping installation.

Physical Requirements:

Selected candidates must be capable of working in enclosed areas such as manholes, in high noise and cold temperature environments and may be required to follow confined space entry permitting procedures. Selected candidates must be medically approved to wear a respirator, pass a respirator fit test and be physically able to push/pull/lift 55 to 65 pounds. This position also requires ladder and stair climbing.

Qualifications: Gas Engineering Transmission is seeking a highly motivated, and dedicated professional to join the organization. The successful candidate must demonstrate leadership skills, have the ability to motivate people, be innovative, multi-task and be detailed oriented. This individual must possess excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to foster a team spirited work-environment in support of Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission Statement. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a high energy level and be able to adapt to a fast changing operational environment. Must also have excellent communication skills and be able to meet deadlines, develop plans, programs and budgets, handle multiple assignments and take decisive action. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with eight years of work experience in Gas Operations, engineering or construction organizations or a Master of Science in Engineering with six years of work experience in Gas Operations, engineering or construction organizations required. Must also possess three to five years of management/supervisory experience Must have knowledge of NYCRR Part 255 and DOT 49 CFR Part 192 Must be able to manage and develop others. Good financial, analytical and project management skills are also required. Must possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Must have knowledge of Business Intelligence, Byers, Vision, and Microsoft Office Suite. Must be a strong team builder and be able to solicit expertise from others. Must have the ability and willingness to take ownership and accountability for projects.




Responsibilities: Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Prepare/review cost estimates, appropriations and economic evaluations for projects. Provide supervision and direct personnel who prepare and/or review company specifications to ensure compliance with applicable PSC, DOT, OSHA and other laws and regulations. Provide interpretation of specifications and codes. Ensure all work under his/her direction is in compliance with all regulations and Company policies and procedures. Participate in the development, preparation and tracking of business plans, system plans, rate case documents and budgets. Analyze trends and information and make recommendations to determine overall effectiveness and need to modify, add, cancel or delay projects and programs. Provide engineering oversight, and direct personnel designing planned and unplanned major gas projects (e.g. gas transmission mains, gas transmission leaks, gas distribution mains, regulator stations, tunnel projects, large distribution supply mains, etc.). Provide engineering oversight and support R&D projects and industry developments for the gas transmission and distribution systems. Provide supervision and direct personnel providing engineering expertise to field personnel. Act as the company liaison to external agencies and groups on projects or gas industry-related issues. Investigate incidents, often in the capacity of chairperson of a team, to make recommendations and to prepare follow up reports and actions to prevent future similar occurrences. Oversee gas main and service designs, and instruct engineers and design technicians regarding preparation of layouts and construction drawings. Negotiate with consultants and engineering contractors concerning disputes, evaluations and recommendations. Provide engineering oversight and direction for the Company’s gas transmission and distribution pipeline integrity programs. Prepare and conduct briefings and presentations to senior management, industry groups and external agencies. Respond to system emergencies as required to make assessments, and develop engineering plans and procedures to replace, repair or relocate transmission leaks on or damages to the gas transmission system. Provide supervision and develop system plans for determining the optimal means of operating, modifying and expanding the Gas Distribution and Transmission systems. Provide supervision to engineering and administrative personnel on process improvements and material verification improvements. Maintain compliance with all codes, Company procedures and policies. Collaborate with Distribution Planning, Transmission Planning and Pipeline Integrity, New Business, Construction, Gas Control, Pressure Control, Energy Services and the Gas Operating areas to ensure system facilities and infrastructure can support load growth and operate in a safe and reliable fashion. Provide engineering oversight for capital projects, O&M programs, and initiatives that support the ongoing maintenance, safety and reliability of the gas transmission and distribution systems. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
