Qualifications: The B/Q Environmental Operations Group seeks to hire an energetic, highly motivated, customer focused individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence and understands the vital importance of personal accountability. A Bachelor Degree and 2 years of work experience, or an Associate Degree and 4 years of work experience, or a H.S. Diploma and 5 years of work experience are required. This individual must have excellent organizational skills as well as possess strong leadership, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills; must be flexible to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities, and must be able to exercise independent judgment to arrive at sound, productive business decisions. Widespread analytical capabilities related to cost management, excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of the operation and maintenance of the electric distribution system are required. Strong computer skills in Outlook, and Microsoft Office Products including Excel, Word and Power Point is required. Working knowledge of all Environmental, Health and Safety concerns and Contractor Oversight is required. Must be able to demonstrate experience with procurement and contractor services.



A Bachelor's degree and Military leadership experience are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities: Directly supervise subordinate personnel in spill response and cleaning of Underground Electrical Structures along with oversight of the local Waste Water Treatment Facility. As an Electric Operations employee, you will be on the front line every day and are therefore counted on to deliver safe and reliable service while meeting or exceeding the service expectations of our customers. The Operating Supervisor must ensure that all work activities of both Company and Contractors are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures by conducting Job Briefings, Safety Talks, and by conducting Job Site Safety Exchanges. Evaluate work performance of subordinates on an on-going basis and provide timely feedback and coaching to improve quality and productivity. Advance and engage workforce in the work resource management process.


Physical Requirements: This position requires light lifting, walking, standing, climbing and entry into electric underground structures. The selected candidate may be required to work various schedules, including weekend, holidays, nights and off hours. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold climates, and respond to emergencies when necessary. Position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a CDL.

Selected candidates will perform environmental sampling and analysis, atmospheric sampling and analysis of electrical equipment and electrical insulating fluids in both field and lab environments. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. Work location: Queens, NY 


















Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Selected candidates must be able to perform lab and field analysis with precision instruments, be able to use various hand and power tools and be able to work rotating shifts in all weather conditions. Moving and lifting test equipment (up to 50 lbs. in weight) to sampling locations is also required. Selected candidates must be clean-shaven for respirator fit testing and medically approved to wear a respirator. Valid driver's license required.

THIS POSITION INVOLVES ROTATING SHIFTS.

  • Responsibilities:

    Specialist 1H / Senior Specialist 2L Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Committed to the Way We Work Principles, and adhere to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. Provides advice to management regarding the development of safety conscious behavior through the development and implementation of occupational safety and health education programs and field observations.     Specialist 1H With guidance, ensures conformity with Company policy, employee relation’s practices, labor agreements, and legal requirements, etc., in such a manner that effectively ensures that cooperation, harmonious employee relations, and employee performance goals will be achieved. Assists the Safety staff Subject Matter Experts (SME) in researching proposed and final federal, state and local safety and health regulations and standards for company compliance. Assists Senior Specialists and Section Manager by providing advice and technical support to all Company organizations on federal, state and local safety and health regulations. Possesses knowledge of regulatory rules and standards, industry trends, and operational and company rules and procedures related to health and safety. Work on teams or individually to perform root cause analysis of incidents, injuries, collisions, operating errors, etc. to assist with identification of root causes and corrective actions. Under the guidance of the Senior Specialists, reviews statistical and trend analysis of incident history. Develops draft communication, and mitigation plans/programs to improve performance. Assists the Senior Specialists during any inspections, visits or inquiries by representatives of OSHA and any other official agencies affecting workplace safety and health. As required, drafts action plans for compliance. Assists with maintaining revising the Company’s safety rules and regulations on a periodic basis. Provides advice to those departments developing work procedures in compliance with these safety rules and regulations.




    Senior Specialist 2L Ensures conformity with Company policy, employee relation’s practices, labor agreements, and legal requirements, etc., in such a manner that effectively ensures that cooperation, harmonious employee relations, and employee performance goals will be achieved. Assumes the functional role of Manager and supervises the Safety Department staff in the absence of the Manager of Safety. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for researching and interpreting proposed and final federal, state and local safety and health regulations and standards for company compliance. Provides continuing advice, counsel and technical support to all Company organizations on federal, state and local safety and health regulations. Possesses strong SME level knowledge of regulatory rules and standards, industry trends, and operational and company rules and procedures related to health and safety. Work on teams or individually to perform root cause analysis of incidents, injuries, collisions, operating errors, etc. to identify root causes and corrective actions. Reviews statistical and trend analysis of incident history. Develops and implements, as appropriate, communication, and mitigation plans/programs to improve performance. Serves as liaison with and represents the Company during any inspections, visits or inquiries by representatives of OSHA and any other official agencies affecting workplace safety and health. As required, develops and implements action plans for compliance. Responsible for maintaining revising the Company’s safety rules and regulations on a periodic basis. Provides advice and counsel to those departments developing work procedures in compliance with these safety rules and regulations. Supervises other employees from time to time who may be involved in safety related studies or projects.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.

     



  • Must be physically able to wear and work in personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, various respirators and chemical resistance outer garments
