Qualifications: The Quality Assurance Engineering & Program Support department of Central Engineering is seeking to hire a Section Manager to oversee its Estimating section. The Section Manager will provide managerial, estimating/financial and consulting assistance to Central Operations major projects / programs and Operation Services initiatives. Oversees all levels of estimates including: Concept, Outside Contractor bids, order-of-magnitude, Authorization and Appropriation. Directs and monitors the functions of staff who prepare cost estimates for major/complex multi-disciplined engineering/design projects. Works closely with Central Operation’s Capital Program Coordinator to establish professional budget estimates for the current and 5 year Capital Budget Program. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requires strong presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels. Requires flexibility to handle multiple assignments and changing deadlines. Requires customer focus and the ability to work in teams. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in a financial or technical related field. Masters degree preferred. Requires 8 years work experience in design/engineering major construction projects. Requires working experience with MS Office and working knowledge of in-house computer systems.




Responsibilities: Provide managerial, estimating/financial and consulting assistance to Central Operations major project program and Operation Services initiatives. Oversee all levels of estimates including: Concept, Outside Contractor bids, order-of-magnitude, Authorization and Appropriation. Direct and monitors the functions of staff who prepare cost estimates for major/complex multi-disciplined engineering/design projects. Serve as financial advice & counsel regarding funding requests for the Capital Budget. Work closely with Central Operation’s Capital Program Coordinator to establish professional budget estimates for the current and 5 year Capital Budget. Work with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and various departments within Central Engineering to resolve estimating contract issues. Coordinate and analyze data for reporting goals and performance indicators. Develop computer applications and provide financial techniques to support staff and field operations. Interface with Corporate Accounting to implement procedures and policies relating to financial and budgeting matters. Develop new and effective reports and techniques for compiling, analyzing and evaluating financial and productivity data. Prepare and update trends and organizational charts. Complies with all Company safety, health and environmental programs. Ensures that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Will performs Special Projects as requested.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk down jobs in the field/visit various field locations, and wear the appropriate PPE. Requires valid driver’s license

Qualifications: Steam Equipment Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Equipment Engineer. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. A thorough understanding of plant electric system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing or analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry or marine propulsion is required. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company and Industry codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Additionally, strong computer skills and familiarity with the Incident Command System are required. Computer literacy (including MS Office) is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions.



SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. Applicants who also have a Masters degree require 6 years of applicable experience. PE license preferred. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H): Requires 2 years total work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience Additional: MS degree preferred. NYC Master Electrician license preferred.

Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather and be willing to work in a plant environment. Must wear appropriate attire and PPE for the work location and duties. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications: The Asset Management Engineering section within the Central Engineering organization is looking to hire a Senior Specialist to join its team. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful and articulate. This individual must be able to work independently, have a clear sense of accountability and be able to deliver exceptional customer service. Strong decision making and computer skills are required. Excellent oral and written communications skills are essential, including the ability to convey technical information in a well-organized, structured, and easy to understand written document. The candidate must be able to work effectively with others in a cross-departmental platform. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able to use their personal vehicle for company business on a regular basis. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Engineering Science, Electrical Technology, Business Administration, etc.) and 3 years of relevant work experience (Engineering, Operations: Gas, Steam, Electric, etc.). In lieu of this, applicants with a Masters in a related discipline and 2 years of relevant work experience, OR an Associate’s Degree in a related discipline and 5 years of relevant work experience, OR a H.S. Preferred knowledge of the Con Edison electric transmission system and equipment. Should be familiar with Engineering drawings, high tension operating diagrams, and work management processes.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will prepare new operating and maintenance procedures, incorporate changes to procedures, and perform periodic reviews of procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, specifications, and/or changes to equipment or processes. This individual will frequently consult with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel and conduct field visits to ensure information accuracy and to validate new or revised procedures. The individual will be expected to independently resolve issues and manage the procedure change process to effectively support customer needs and goals. It may be necessary to update training materials and prepare and issue general communications related to procedure revisions. The selected candidate may be required to develop an area of technical expertise and assist in asset management activities rated to this field of specialization. The active participation in quality assurance activities and report development is expected.



Must be able to travel throughout the Con Edison service territory using personal vehicle to make field visits and attend meetings.

Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the company service territory. Must be able to work outdoors, wear appropriate PPE, and observe Maintenance and Operation activities in the field. Must be able to walk extensively as well as climb and bend. Must be able to work in confined spaces and respond on off-hours as needed.

Experience with MS Office 365 as well as supporting Autodesk suite of product such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, etc. is a plus. Experience with Windows XP/7/8/10 is required. In addition, Windows Scripting, automation and/or computer operations expertise required. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in either Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field Requires a minimum 3 years experience in troubleshooting and problem resolution, and root cause analysis as well as experience in workstation configuration and imaging. Must have working knowledge of Remote Access technologies. In lieu of a Bachelors degree, applicants with an Associates degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field, and 5 years of applicable work experience will be accepted.



Prefer experience in network, and computer operations. Should have excellent skills in: troubleshooting and problem resolution; interacting with customers in person and on the telephone; verbal and written communications; and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities: With minimal guidance provides support for all LAN/WAN initiatives for Central Engineering. The System Analyst will assist in the support, diagnosis, and configuring of computer equipment. The candidate will: Image, install, and support Engineering and workstations, laptops, tablets (Surface Pro, Samsung Slate, etc.) and associated equipment. The System Analyst is expected to support and administer Central Engineering’s document and drawing management systems. The System Analyst will work with contracted vendors to resolve Remote Access (CERA) issues. Provides off-hours on-call support when necessary. Escalates problems to resident and industry experts in an expeditious manner. Acts as the liaison between department users and the Help Center in solving trouble tickets. The prospective candidate must also be able to install and troubleshoot software/applications on Central Engineering servers. Maintain up-to-date inventory of all workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, plotters, and peripheral equipment throughout Central Engineering using Computer Cost Central, and Active Directory. Manage projects as assigned by his or her manager. The candidate will be expected to evaluate current systems and applications to provide input in upgrades and enhancements based on new industry standards.


Physical Requirements: Should have a valid driver’s license, be able to lift desktop computers, and bend, stoop, kneel and/or sit for long durations.
