Senior Engineer (2H): Must have minimum 8 years experience in the design, analysis or operation of power systems, high voltage substations and transmission systems. Applicants with a Masters require 6 years experience. Engineer (2L): Must have minimum 3 years applicable experience. Associate Engineer A (1H): Must have 2 years work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience.

Responsibilities: Will evaluate project requirements; prepare scopes of work, design criteria, construction packages, economic analysis, authorization and appropriation funding requests and engineering specifications. Coordinate projects with users and construction and provide field support. Monitor and report on project status, schedules and costs. Interface with or direct project work teams of discipline engineers and designers. Address outage, safety and environmental constraints as required. Prepares or directs the preparation of equipment, cable and accessory purchase specifications; reviews and accepts manufacturer’s proposals and drawings. Serves as Lead Discipline Engineer with decision-making capability, meets with other departments on the erection, testing, maintaining and supplying consultation for the installation of equipment. Responds to emergency calls by operating departments and makes field decisions in his area of responsibility.



Environment and Safety: Ensures Company environmental and safety procedures and goals are incorporated into the project designs. Creates the EH&S Checklist for project installation packages. Manages projects in Project Explorer

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license for travel within service territory. Must be able to work in substation / switching station areas. Must be able to crawl and walk between electrical equipment. This position requires walking indoors, outdoors and ladder climbing.

ASSOCIATE ENGINEER-A (1H): Requires at least two years total work experience to include one year of applicable engineering experience. E.I.T. registration required. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience and E.I.T. registration or P.E. license required. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience (applicants with a Masters degree require 6 years of experience). P.E. License required, Project management experience preferred. Preference will be given to those with the following Transmission and/or Substation experience. TRANSMISSION: Knowledge of computer design and finite element analysis of transmission structures and knowledge of substation and overhead transmission engineering design. SUBSTATIONS: Knowledge of computer design and finite element analysis, and electric substation engineering design experience.

Responsibilities: Use technical competence to determine the civil scope-of-work for a project. Prepare advanced planning documents, scoping documents, budget requests and appropriation documents. Prepare detailed specifications for projects. Meet with vendors and customers to optimize the proposed design. Perform economic evaluations. Establish project schedules. Provide support to existing and proposed Company Substation & Transmission facilities, Purchasing and Construction Departments for the procurement and construction of projects. Supervise both in-house and out-of-house design efforts. Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.


Physical Requirements: Must hold a valid driver’s license. Travel within service territory required. Position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, climbing stairs and ladders. Must be able to work in a substation environment with noise, heat, confined space, tall structures etc. Must be able to wear a respirator and full body fall protection.

Responsibilities: Provide managerial, estimating/financial and consulting assistance to Central Operations major project program and Operation Services initiatives. Serve as financial advice & counsel regarding funding requests for the Capital Budget. Work with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and various departments within Central Engineering to resolve estimating contract issues. Coordinate and analyze data for reporting goals and performance indicators. Develop computer applications and provide financial techniques to support staff and field operations. Interface with Corporate Accounting to implement procedures and policies relating to financial and budgeting matters. Develop new and effective reports and techniques for compiling, analyzing and evaluating financial and productivity data. Prepare and update trends and organizational charts. Complies with all Company safety, health and environmental programs. Ensures that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Will performs Special Projects as requested.

Candidate must be capable of performing in a business environment. Must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience working in/or supporting an engineering or construction department. Computer skills are essential including proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Prior work with the use of formulas in Excel is preferred. Familiarity with drawing software such as AutoCAD, drawing management systems such as Teamcenter, and any existing Con Edison engineering software packages such as Project Explorer, Feeder Rating software, EPRI software, etc. is highly preferred. Familiarity with electrical overhead and underground transmission systems and components preferred.




Responsibilities: The Specialist will provide administrative duties including: Performs clerical duties such as answering phones, typing correspondence and reports, and organizing meeting arrangements and events, originates and maintains office files, both administrative and technical. Contacts other departments to obtain and/or transmit technical information, assists with maintaining Section training records, KPI reporting, project status, vacation and time schedules, and other responsibilities as needed, assists with maintaining office supplies and PPE for the Section, interfaces with other Con Edison departments and external companies for project administrative support, and maintains Feeder Route Map and Impedance Diagram copies, ensuring hard copies and electronic records are up to date. The Specialist will provide the engineering aide duties including: prepare engineering sketches and technical presentations, search for drawings in Team Center or other drawing management systems, assist engineers with project work, calculations and reports including maintaining project documentation in Project Explorer or other project document repositories, prepare calculations using Excel templates and existing software by gathering information from records and drawings for an Engineer’s review, mark up engineering drawings based on engineer’s comments and verifies drawing updates by peer checking drawing revisions, maintain document archives, manufacturer catalogs, and x-ray files up to date, maintains all related databases including the feeder and failure databases, participate in project field walks as needed, perform other related assignments as required.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to access Company substations and be able to wear the required PPE. Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use the keyboard extensively. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time

Qualifications: Steam Equipment Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Equipment Engineer. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. A thorough understanding of plant electric system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing or analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry or marine propulsion is required. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company and Industry codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather and be willing to work in a plant environment. Responsibilities: The Senior Specialist will be responsible for helping Central Engineering address the increasing emphasis on effective cost management and reducing costs to customers. Primarily, the person filling this position will help to create a long-term capital strategy and investment portfolio for Central Operations. This will be accomplished through the use of project portfolio optimization, probabilistic modeling, economic analysis and sound business justification. The Capital Strategy Senior Specialist will perform economic analyses on capital programs and projects to help determine the optimal solutions for equipment and infrastructure investments. He/she will assist in the development of risk analyses to make replacement, overhaul and maintenance recommendations for existing substation, transmission and generating station assets and systems. The candidate will help identify, qualify, quantify, and document required business needs and potential investment opportunities for Central Operations organizations. He/she will create concise and well-written business cases for Central Operations capital programs and projects. He/she will review capital project optimizer scoring to ensure adequacy and alignment with corporate strategic drivers and corporate risk. He/she will work with vendors to refine existing probabilistic modeling for the Con Edison bulk power system. He/she will have some understanding of the corporate enterprise risk management process and assist in employing corporate strategies at the local organizational level. He/she will interface with equipment engineers, system engineers, and operating personnel to understand equipment issues that need to be addressed through capital expenditure. He/she will interact with discipline engineers, program/project managers, and scheduling groups to leverage outage and economic synergies through the bundling of capital projects. Other responsibilities will include the review of documentation produced by asset management peer teams to understand capital replacement needs and investment effects on overall fleet asset health levels, the provision of input and back-up for regulatory filings and rate cases, and the coordination/bundling of equipment purchases.

Prefer experience in network, and computer operations. Should have excellent skills in: troubleshooting and problem resolution; interacting with customers in person and on the telephone; verbal and written communications; and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities: With minimal guidance provides support for all LAN/WAN initiatives for Central Engineering. The System Analyst will assist in the support, diagnosis, and configuring of computer equipment. The candidate will: Image, install, and support Engineering and workstations, laptops, tablets (Surface Pro, Samsung Slate, etc.) and associated equipment. The System Analyst is expected to support and administer Central Engineering’s document and drawing management systems. The System Analyst will work with contracted vendors to resolve Remote Access (CERA) issues. Provides off-hours on-call support when necessary. Escalates problems to resident and industry experts in an expeditious manner. Acts as the liaison between department users and the Help Center in solving trouble tickets. The prospective candidate must also be able to install and troubleshoot software/applications on Central Engineering servers. Maintain up-to-date inventory of all workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, plotters, and peripheral equipment throughout Central Engineering using Computer Cost Central, and Active Directory. Manage projects as assigned by his or her manager. The candidate will be expected to evaluate current systems and applications to provide input in upgrades and enhancements based on new industry standards.


Physical Requirements: Should have a valid driver’s license, be able to lift desktop computers, and bend, stoop, kneel and/or sit for long durations.
