Qualifications: Steam Equipment Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Equipment Engineer. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. A thorough understanding of plant electric system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing or analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry or marine propulsion is required. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company and Industry codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Additionally, strong computer skills and familiarity with the Incident Command System are required. Computer literacy (including MS Office) is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions.



SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. Applicants who also have a Masters degree require 6 years of applicable experience. PE license preferred. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H): Requires 2 years total work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience Additional: MS degree preferred. NYC Master Electrician license preferred.

Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather and be willing to work in a plant environment. Must wear appropriate attire and PPE for the work location and duties. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications: Central Engineering is seeking a highly motivated candidate for an EP Technical Associate (Engineering), an entry professional position, in Relay Protection and Meter Engineering Section. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong service-oriented work ethic and be able to exercise good judgment and support Company goals for safety, exemplary customer service and environmental excellence. Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with internal customers, engineering staff and various levels of management. Must have the ability to work independently or as a member of a team on assignments. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant engineering work experience (co-op or internship). Candidate should be skilled in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Team Center.




Responsibilities: The EP Technical Associate will provide the following duties: Support engineering projects related to relay protection, relay communication ,metering for Area and Transmission Substations and Steam Business unit; Support engineering projects as Lead Discipline Engineer (LDE) on small capital projects ; Support general engineering tasks, such as: create various reports, schedules and presentations; contact other Departments/Organizations to obtain or transmit technical information; Interface with other Departments/Organizations providing support as a discipline engineer on the projects initiated by them; Maintain up-to-date status on all Engineering Service Requests (ESR) accepted by Relay Protection Engineering Manager; Provide an assistance to the engineers in Relay Protection and Metering section working on large projects by completing engineering tasks such as: calculations; sketches; searches through drawings database; developing presentations. Participate in development of standard engineering documents such as standard drawings, engineering documents templates; Participate in project field walks. Performs other related assignments as required


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be able to wear the required PPE as needed.
