Qualifications: The Reporting and Analytics (R&A) department of the Business Finance organization is seeking a dynamic and motivated professional to develop and implement proactive approaches to financial planning and analysis, cost management, and the utilization of the Business Intelligence application. This includes conducting advanced data management and financial analytics to help improve efficiency, increase productivity, and eliminate waste. The basic objective of the position is to assist in providing services in such areas as standardized internal financial reporting, ad hoc reporting support, financial analytics, data quality and validation, KPI reporting, and the development of policies and procedures within the Business Finance organization. The position is needed to assist in fostering a “culture of financial excellence” in which employees seek and accept the responsibility to effectively manage costs.



The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or related field. A Master’s Degree (or in progress) is preferred. A minimum of two years of any combination of utility accounting, planning and administration, and budgeting experience is preferred. A working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications is required. The ability to learn and use new systems such as Oracle EBS, Hyperion Planning, Business Intelligence, and various work management systems is required. Must be familiar with the procurement process such as purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contract administration and materials and supplies delivery. Knowledge of retired legacy systems (e.g., CARE, Impromptu) is a plus. Good oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities: Assists senior members in R&A in (1) generating the monthly standard internal financial reporting packages that are used across operating and support groups at CECONY and O&R; (2) updating and maintaining the standard reporting templates used for the monthly internal financial reporting package, Current Working Estimates (CWEs), and forecasting; (3) assist with BI training efforts to a cross section of users; (4) ensuring the validity of financial data within various financial systems; (5) assist with enhancements to the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) application and users’ interaction with BI; (6) reporting on financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); and (7) maintaining procedures, methodology, and documentation within the Business Finance organization. The candidate also supports operating organization during ICS and emergency situations and serves as an alternate for senior members of the R&A team when required for presentations and other tasks.


Physical Requirements: The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Ability to participate in the Company’s emergency management process and storm plans is required.

Qualifications: Cost Management is seeking a highly motivated professional to join their team as a Section Manager – Various. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field with eight years of either general accounting, planning and administration, budgeting, or operating experience. A Master’s Degree with six years of general accounting, planning and administration, budgeting, or operating experience is preferred. The position requires at least 8 years of experience with progressive responsibilities in Budget, General Accounting Controls, Budget/Forecasts/ Planning/Administration, or operations. Supervisory Experience, working knowledge of Microsoft suite and the ability to learn and use new systems such as Oracle EBS, Hyperion Planning, and Business Intelligence and strong oral and written communication skills is required. Should have familiarity with purchasing processes including processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders and contract administration. Additional: Engineering experience and knowledge of retired systems (CARE, DLHS, Impromptu, etc) is a plus.




Responsibilities: The Section Manager will work with other Managers to ensure that the O&M, Clearing, and Capital budgets are maintained within appropriate funding, including the planning and development of organizational 1 and 5-year O&M, Clearing, Capital, and Human Resource plans at the project, activity, section, and element of expense level. Coordinate with GM’s to develop a clear and concise 1-year and 5-year Business Plan You will also perform pertinent analyses and statistical evaluation of performance trends relative to expenditures and Human Resources to ensure compliance with Corporate Goals and Objectives; assist operating sections or departments in quantifying resource requirements;; coordinate ongoing reviews for Operating, Capital and Human Resource budgets and interpret and implement Corporate, Accounting and any operating procedure and policy relating to financial and budgeting matters, as requested by operating departments. Perform audits as needed. You will also ensure there is effective communication between operating departments and senior management relative to corporate budget guidelines; provide necessary support to Vice President and General Managers to improve trends and cost containment of expenditures; assist organization in drafting justifications and performing cost/benefit analysis; monitor, analyze and forecast Operating expenses, Capital expenditures, Human Resource levels, and KPI’s; publish monthly findings to senior management. Additionally, help develop action plans to address budget concerns and enhance control of costs; develop, maintain, and provide update to annual goals and KPIs. Additionally the Section Manager will develop and prepare the Annual Capital Budgets for active projects and helps prepare reviews and five-year construction programs for the organization; present completed budgets to the Senior Vice President and Vice Presidents for review assuring that the supporting analysis and write-ups are adequately prepared. Also, plans and implements the programs and procedures required to produce cost reports used by Senior Vice President, Vice President, General Managers and Department Managers in order to maintain responsible financial controls over the organizations activities; coordinates and monitors the preparation of current working estimates in accordance with a predetermined schedule. Insures that proper controls are established and maintained over work done for others via interdepartmental work requests and maintenance work requests; supervises the implementation of the organizations budget transfers and requests for appropriation/authorization increase due to cost overrun, scope changes, etc; coordinate variance analysis of monthly statistical results versus the respective budget on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis;. You will also monitor and provide variation explanations for the operating budgets and operating and maintenance budgets; be responsible for team’s performance; including monitoring, training, and developing employees; evaluating ways to continuously improve; and work to exceed established goals and KPI’s and ensure compliance with the Standards of Business Conduct and EEO policies, procedures and guidelines; and support the implementation of and adherence to safety, health and environmental programs in accordance with company policy and government regulations.
