Qualifications: Steam Operations is searching for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology or a HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience. Individuals with 4 years Nuclear Navy or aircraft controls experience is preferred. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgear, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment is a must. The candidate must be self-motivated, and be able to work both as a team member, as well as independently. Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on control, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrumentation systems within the facility while ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.

Responsibilities: The I&C Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instrument, electrical and control systems within the power plant and associated Con Edison facilities. Four years technical experience includes power or chemical plants, paper mills, refineries, manufacturing, or related facilities.  Candidate will also participate in projects involving the implementation of design changes and major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls and Turbine Control Systems is preferred.


Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., heat, noise, confined spaces) and be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and will be required to pass the PST Electrical Technician placement exam. Selected candidates will perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and systems, overhead and underground switching and regulating devices, substation equipment, control systems and communication systems (SCADA - Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) in substations and at other field locations. These candidates must possess the ability for Bucket Truck Aerial and Ladder Line training and once trained, will be required to perform Storm Emergency restoration (Ladder Line) work, as needed. Selected candidates must be able to work a rotating schedule and must be able to obtain a CDL license.














Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Extensive climbing/walking/standing, and the ability to push/pull/lift heavy equipment (60-80 lbs. in weight) are required. Selected candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., extreme heat and noise, confined spaces, etc.), must be able to work in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems, and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. These candidates must also be able to work in manholes, as certain underground testing may require manhole and transformer manhole environment work. A valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle for company business is required.
