Responsibilities: Substations Operations Protective Systems Testing in Various Bronx Locations, NY is looking for Electrical Technicians (Local 1-2) to perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and systems, substation equipment, control systems and telephone lines in substations and other field locations.

Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Title: Maintenance Technician L1-2

Qualifications: Five years in-depth work experience in the field of a Power Generation or related industries would be a prerequisite for this position. These would include, but not limited to work experience in facilities such as fossil/nuclear power plants, industrial plants, steam boiler/engine rooms, oil refineries, combustion turbine facilities, ship yards, airline maintenance facilities, etc. Significant experience working on various types of electrical equipment is required. Candidate must have basic knowledge of PC computer systems. Candidate must have HS Diploma or GED. A minimum Associate Applied Science technical degree or equivalent is desirable. Specifically, the ideal candidate will be required to have: Experience with installing, maintaining and/or calibrating instrument and control systems is required (i.e. level and pressure transmitters, limit switches, motor and pneumatic valve actuators, solenoid valve actuators, transducers, etc.) Knowledge of basic electricity, Programmable Logic Cards, Digital Control Systems, the proper use of test equipment, print reading and troubleshooting (Hi Pot test, Di electric test, Etc.) of control circuits Installation experience in rigid tubing for pneumatic and hydraulic applications Knowledge in the area of industrial safety. In depth experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing and installing electrical power system equipment such as motors, motor control circuits, high and low voltage circuit breakers, conduit, batteries, cable, etc. Know how to use various field power tools, measuring and test equipment, be able to read electrical prints/schematics, have a working knowledge of industrial safety and a basic knowledge of electrical theory and math. In addition, a basic working knowledge in the following areas of expertise is preferred: machine shop, confined spaces, precision instruments, pumps, coupling alignment, bearing maintenance, pipe fitting, rigging, scaffolding, crane operation, mechanical drawing, skyclimber/hanging platform and oxy-acetylene torch cutting, Knowledge of the NEC is an additional benefit. Estimate manpower resources, materials, special tools and equipment required to perform corrective and preventative maintenance of power plant equipment and piping systems. Develop job plans as required to complete each job in an effective and timely manner. Candidate will originate purchase and class/stock orders and will follow up on the status of those orders. Assure that all work orders and equipment history are entered in the required computer systems. Consult and review technical manuals, instruction books, prints, sketches, manufacturer's catalogs, equipment history records and other references for specifications and performance information to assist in planning process. Identify spare parts and equipment located in various storerooms for use in field repairs. Work with EH&S, Engineering and other Departments, as necessary, to gather information to be used in Job Plans. May perform special job related assignments and studies as required. Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45-60 lbs.) and to do extensive walking, standing and climbing. Candidates must be willing to work in a physically demanding work environment (i.e., work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces and in hot and cold ambient temperatures). Qualifications: The candidate for this position must have an Associate's Degree or higher in Chemistry/Mechanical Technology, or related field or a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience and HS Degree/GED. Knowledge of practical application to power plant equipment is required in regards to EITHER water treatment processing/chemical and gas sampling for analysis OR thermodynamic theory and fluid dynamics. Must have experience in PC based software (i.e. Microsoft Office programs). Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The normal working hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm. However, certain periodic and emergency circumstances will involve work at nights and on weekends and/or overtime beyond regular 8 hours shift.



The candidate will conduct various tests of power plant equipment. These tests can include, but are not limited to: boiler water sampling (pH, salt, and phosphate), lube oil analysis, gas purity, atmospheric safety testing, dew point analysis and environmental monitoring sampling programs, vibration testing on rotating equipment, turbine/boiler thermodynamic testing and auxiliary equipment performance testing. The candidate will also be responsible for compiling routine data and special reports to evaluate trends and efficiency.

Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must be capable of working in a power plant environment which includes noise, heat and working at high elevations. Candidate must pass an OSHA physical and be medically approved and able to wear a respirator. This candidate must be able to lift (up to 50 lbs. in weight) and carry materials, climb ladders, work outside in various weather conditions, and be able to enter confined spaces. A valid driver's license is required.

The Survey Technician assists Surveyors with mathematical computations, filed sketches and responds to emergencies.
