Responsibilities: Substations Operations Protective Systems Testing in Various Bronx Locations, NY is looking for Electrical Technicians (Local 1-2) to perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and systems, substation equipment, control systems and telephone lines in substations and other field locations.

Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Extensive climbing/walking/standing, and the ability to push/pull/lift heavy equipment (60-80 lbs. in weight) are required. Selected candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., extreme heat and noise, confined spaces, etc.), must be able to work in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems, and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. These candidates must also be able to work in manholes, as certain underground testing may require manhole and transformer manhole environment work. Physical Requirements:

The work schedule for this position could be Tuesday to Saturday and is subject to change based on departmental needs. The location of job assignments is based on workload within Public Improvements various sections (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Westchester). Inspectors may be subject to re-assignment at any time based on departmental needs.Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle to be used for company business on authorized mileage. The selected candidate is required to carry, in their personal vehicle, and use company provided electronic equipment, (computers, hand held devices, cell phones, digital cameras, etc.). Must be able to do extensive walking, standing, and climbing. Must be able to respond to system emergencies (weekends, holidays, and off-hours) and work in all weather conditions. Knowledge of 3D design and the ability to utilize current computer technologies to render 3D designs is desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Microstation and VISION are also desired. The candidate must have the ability read, interpret and prepare civil, structural, and/or architectural construction drawings, including plans, sections, and details with knowledge of how to interpret company plates, layouts, field sketches, and other drawings (all of which involve color coding). These also include gas, electric, steam, company mains and services, conduit and regulator plates. Junior Designers will plan, design, draw, map, and/or estimate layout work for the addition of new facilities to the Gas Distribution System. They will evaluate the distribution system capacity and provide for load growth. Applicant must have a working knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural design issues. Additional: Selected candidates will be expected to advance to the Sr. Designer career path in Gas Engineering.








Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Selected candidate must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The working environment consists of both office and field (various locations) settings. Office work may require periods of prolonged sitting. Field work may require extensive walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and the need to work in environments with exposure to noise, heat, confined spaces, heights, etc. This position requires the applicants to be seated at a computer for the majority of the work day and perform extensive keyboarding. Selected candidates must be capable of using stairs to reach the second floor work location, as there is no elevator access. A valid driver's license and the ability to make occasional field visits are also required for this position.

Candidate should have experience with Lock out Tag out and maintain good housekeeping practices. The successful candidate must be a strong team player but also have the ability to work independently. Machine shop experience, mechanical aptitude (five years' experience) and relevant trade certification is preferred. Candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED.
