Substations Operations Protective Systems Testing in Staten Island, NY is looking for Electrical Technicians (Local 3) to perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and systems, substation equipment, control systems and telephone lines in substations and other field locations. Candidates for this position must possess an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology, or related field of study or a Bachelor?s Degree in Engineering, or related field of study or candidates having completed two-year United States military academic programs including Nuclear Electronics Technician, Nuclear Electrician, and Aviation Electronics Technician are welcome. Responsibilities:



Candidates must have a strong knowledge of basic AC and DC electrical power theory and circuit analysis, including three phase AC power systems, as well as a strong working knowledge of mathematics and the ability to perform calculations involving basic trigonometry and vector analysis. Candidates must have knowledge and experience with computer systems and must be able to use these skills to perform automated testing, as well as prepare spreadsheets and technical reports. Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.



The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Responsibilities:



The nature of this job requires selected candidates to assist in the maintenance and repair of the gas distribution system in a safe and efficient manner. They will perform mandated inspection programs and respond to emergency calls.Candidates will be expected to work safely and are required to communicate clearly with their coworkers and customers. Selected candidates will be required to access/enter customer premises and have customer contact on a regular basis. The candidates will be expected to provide outstanding customer service and present a positive image of the company to customers. Selected candidates must also be able to work various shifts, rotating shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Knowledge and skill are required, but not limited to, in the following areas: the use of excavating safe work practices; knowledge and the ability to use environmental policies and procedures; ability to perform standard maintenance functions; the use of hand and power tools; ability to safely operate a jackhammer (90lbs. in weight) for extended periods of time; ability to pinpoint leaks in gas mains and services; and ability to obtain certificates of fitness and/or licenses as required. Knowledge and use of a computer is required for this position. Must be able to work under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:



Selected candidates must be capable of pushing/pulling/lifting up to 90lbs in weight, working in confined spaces and underground structures, working in all outdoor weather conditions, and walking/climbing/standing extensively. Construction Services is seeking a qualified individual to join our Machine Shop Team as a Millwright. (Machinist) The nature of this job requires an individual to be familiar The duties of this position are: maintenance to machinery and equipment as required, ensuring machinery runs smoothly to enhance daily production levels, evaluating performance of machinery and ordering parts for machinery. Responsibilities:



The Millwright must be able to read manuals and specifications, ensure quality workmanship and detailed precise paperwork completed. This position also requires that individual must be competent on all types of precision measuring equipment. In addition, this will require knowledge in the area of troubleshooting, testing, installation and repair. Perform basic and routine maintenance on electrical equipment up to 600 volt. Must be able to inspect machine shop equipment to find root cause of problems and recommend repairs and upgrades. Experience should be based upon hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems. Safety is a fundamental of every task. Candidate should have experience with Lock out Tag out and maintain good housekeeping practices. The successful candidate must be a strong team player but also have the ability to work independently. Machine shop experience, mechanical aptitude (five years' experience) and relevant trade certification is preferred. 

Physical Requirements:

1-Selected candidate must be capable of lifting 45-60 pounds, work in confined spaces, possess a valid driver's license. 2-Must be able to walk, climb, and stand extensively, and must be medically approved to wear a respirator and all required protective equipment. 3-Selected candidates must be able to work a rotating shift and may be required to work overtime and off hour shifts, as needed. 4-Must be comfortable with height.Selected candidates must be able to work in adverse environments (hot/cold) and confined spaces (tunnels, excavations, generating stations and high structures).

Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position must be interested in qualifying as Mechanic A's. Must have welding knowledge in API1104 OR B31.1 welding codes or have attended classes in a certified welding school. Must be able to complete and achieve welding qualification in down-hand API1104 and B31.1 welding codes. Must possess burning license and fireguard certification. Must maintain all license certifications. Candidate must have a HS Diploma or GED.


Responsibilities:

Upon successful completion of welding school, the candidate must be able to fabricate piping from layouts, blueprints and mechanical drawings. Must be able to interpret welding specifications, standards and procedures and work unsupervised to complete assignments. Must be able to perform welding tasks and various mechanical duties on live steam, gas and electric facilities. Must be willing to further welding skills as the need for such welding specifications is required by the department. 

Physical Requirements:

Selected candidates must be able to work in adverse environments (hot/cold) and confined spaces (tunnels, excavations, generating stations and high structures). Must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45 to 60 lbs). Must be clean-shaven and fit tested for full respirator use. Must be willing to work off hour and rotating shifts as needed. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Qualifications: Selected candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or GED with relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy or other related maritime experience. Knowledge of boiler water and steam cycles is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform operational functions; including the operation of boilers, turbines, generators and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station. Candidate must also be willing to work rotating shifts and perform mechanical maintenance tasks. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering preferred. Candidate must have the ability to perform mechanical and heavy manual labor. Selected candidate must qualify in all of the station's operating posts including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Gas Turbine, PIC, Upper Rover, Electrical switching, and Control Room. The nature of this position requires the selected candidate to perform work involving steam production, working with steam generating boilers, boiler feed pumps and fans, turbine-generators and related auxiliary equipment, water treatment systems, and fuel delivery systems. The use of hands and power tools are required.




Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to work in confined areas, in hot and cold environments, and at high elevations. Candidate must also be able to perform extensive walking, climbing, standing, and have the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials (45-60 lbs.). Candidate must also be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.
