Candidates must have knowledge and experience with computer systems and must be able to use these to perform automated testing, as well as prepare spreadsheets and technical reports. Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. All candidates will be required to pass both a written placement exam and structured interview for the PST Electrical Technician position.  




Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules. The work location is: Queens, NY

Relevant experience may include chemical and power plants, paper mills, refineries, and manufacturing facilities. Individuals with 4 years Nuclear Navy or aircraft controls experience is preferred. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of: industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgears, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance, as well as conduit installation practices. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment and work as a team member as well as independently is a must.

Responsibilities:



Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repairing, and preventative maintenance in a generating location on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic control systems and instrumentation along with ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. Candidate will also handle projects involving the implementation of design changes, major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidates should have strong oral and written communications skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controls is preferred. Work location is various locations of New York City and Westchester.

Physical Requirements:

The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. in weight. These candidates must be proficient in the proper testing and operation of natural gas detection equipment. In addition, the selected candidates must be able to read and interpret gas, steam, and electric mains and services plates. Must demonstrate proficiency in the use and operation of computers. Selected candidates must have good oral and written communication skills and must successfully pass a written test and an interview for the Electrical Technician (ET) title. These candidates will also be expected to pass a written and practical examination for promotion into the Senior Electrical Technician (SET) title, within 18 months of obtaining the Electrical Technician title. Duties include conducting walking and mobile surveys of gas mains, services, stations and plants using gas General Mains plates, BYERS mapping software, Mains & Services Plates and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)/Gas Inspection System (GIS) computer system. Demonstrate proficiency with Detecto Pak Infrared device (DPIR), Gas Measuring Instruments (GMI) and various gas leak investigation tools. Additional duties include conducting gas leak investigations, classification of gas leaks, documenting surveys and leak investigations and inspection of gas piping for atmospheric corrosion. Candidates selected for positions will also be crossed trained for assignments in Corrosion Control. Duties in Corrosion Control include, but are not limited to, taking pipe-to-soil readings and performing pipeline mark outs.

Must be able to inspect machine shop equipment to find root cause of problems and recommend repairs and upgrades. Experience should be based upon hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems. Safety is a fundamental of every task. Candidate should have experience with Lock out Tag out and maintain good housekeeping practices. The successful candidate must be a strong team player but also have the ability to work independently. Machine shop experience, mechanical aptitude (five years' experience) and relevant trade certification is preferred.

Qualifications:



Construction Services is seeking a qualified individual to join our Elevator and Crane Section. The nature of this job requires an individual to be familiar with all types of elevator equipment: Otis, Peelle, Thompson and MCE. Knowledge of hoist cable replacement is a must. Must be able to read electrical schematics, prints, and drawings. Candidate must know the theory and workings of AC and DC motors, basic circuits, series circuits, parallel circuits, motors and generators. Candidate must have a HS diploma or GED.Candidate must have a valid driver's license


Responsibilities:



Must be able to use a multi-meter, mega and micrometers to test equipment and circuits. Strong trouble-shooting skills a must. Must understand brakes, their adjustment and timing. Must understand bearings, theory and proper lubrication. Must have or be willing to obtain QEI inspector certification, NYC private elevator inspector license, and NYC asbestos handler's license. Will be required to perform standard OSHA inspections and maintenance functions on elevators, cranes and hoists. Duties include elevator and crane hoist cable replacement. Knowledge and skill are required in the following areas: use of hand and power tools, rigging, trouble-shooting mechanical and/or electrical equipment, safe work practices, environmental policies and procedures. Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills are required for frequent interaction with internal and external customers. The selected candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, as required. Must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.




Physical Requirements:

Selected candidate must be capable of lifting 45-60 pounds, work in confined spaces. Must be able to walk, climb, and stand extensively, and must be medically approved to wear a respirator and all required protective equipment. Selected candidates must be able to work a rotating shift and may be required to work overtime and off hour shifts, as needed. Must be comfortable with height. The selected candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities, as required. Must be able to demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. Qualifications:



The candidate for this position must be interested in qualifying as a Mechanic A at the 74th Street Generating Complex. Must have the ability to perform mechanical or electrical maintenance type work. The successful candidate must demonstrate three to five years experience on power plant components and equipment, the ability to install, repair and maintain utility electrical equipment, as well as the ability to read schematic drawings and engineering prints. Candidate must have a valid driver's license. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The work location is various locations of New York City and Westchester.


Responsibilities:



Candidate must also possess skills in the proper use of testing devices and the ability to troubleshoot problems within electrical components, circuits or equipment. Selected candidate must be able to work weekends, midnight shifts and overtime, when necessary. Candidate will be expected to obtain both the New York State and New York City Asbestos Handler's License as soon as practicable, based on the schedule of required training and testing. Additional knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) is preferable. Welding experience and license is preferable.

Physical Requirements:

The selected candidates must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45-60 lbs.) and to do extensive walking, standing and climbing. Candidates must be willing to work in a physically demanding work environment (i.e., work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, in excavations and in hot ambient temperatures). Candidates must be clean shaven and medically approved to wear a respirator to include fit testing for 1/2 face, full face and SCBA respirator use. This position may involve rotating shifts.
