Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Individuals with 4 years Nuclear Navy or aircraft controls experience is preferred. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgear, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment is a must. The candidate must be self-motivated, and be able to work both as a team member, as well as independently. Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on control, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrumentation systems within the facility while ensuring safe and efficient plant operation. Candidate will also participate in projects involving the implementation of design changes and major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls and Turbine Control Systems is preferred.



Candidate for this position must be interested in qualifying as a Senior Electrical Technician at East River Station.

Additional:

Technical experience in Drafting, Engineering Inspector, Field Inspector, drawing checker or field estimator is preferred. Knowledge of NYC standard water, sewer and highway specifications is also preferred. Location of job assignment is based on workload within the department (Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Westchester).




Responsibilities: Junior Designers (JD) will design, draw and interpret electric conduit and cable, gas, steam, and telecommunications layouts, applying appropriate work codes as per company standards, specifications, and regulations. The JD will interpret and analyze company plates, contract documents, specifications, and field sketches to determine the impact to company facilities. JDs recommend alternate methods or accommodations to minimize impacts on company facilities, conduct engineering studies and computerized analysis of electric and gas networks to maintain system reliability. Will use computer software such as Logica, COMPASS, CEES, Filenet, and other applications necessary to prepare cost estimates and track projects. JDs are responsible to prepare Gas Cost sharing, Joint Bidding Section-U and Section-U 2.0 packages, appropriations for capital work, and Before and After primary feeder sketches. JDs must have the ability to effectively interact with internal departments, governmental agencies, and represent the Company at Agency meetings, perform relocation vs. support cost analysis and benefits, prepare benefits, and written communication.


Physical Requirements: Use of personal vehicle for company business may be required. Candidates must have a valid driver's license. This position requires sitting for extended periods of time, working on computers and may require driving company vehicles, conducting field walks, and some lifting.

Qualified candidates must also have the ability to perform drafting and design in AutoCAD 2D as well as the capability to read and interpret layouts and/or drawings (structural, civil, electric, gas and steam), as well as understanding and following all related company engineering specifications. Junior designers will be responsible to design and prepare drawings related to the addition of new and repair of existing facilities in the electric distribution system. Duties include design of all related structural elements for vault structures as well as placement and design of electrical equipment and bus detail as specified in company's specifications and procedures. Familiarity with local building codes and the ability to perform calculations based on these regulations is preferred. Applicant will be responsible for coordinating design work with customers, engineers, and other personnel. Junior Designers position requires the support of our operating departments so the selected applicants must be available to respond to off-hour system emergencies. Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The working environment consists of both office and occasional field settings. Fieldwork may require extensive walking, climbing of ladders, bending, and entry into manholes/confined spaces.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift, bend, push and pull objects up to 50lbs. Must also have the ability to climb ladders. Must be available for emergency and storm work. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to work overtime and if need be various shifts.

Work with EH&S, Engineering and other Departments, as necessary, to gather information to be used in Job Plans. May perform special job related assignments and studies as required.
