Qualifications:

Steam Operations is searching for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology or a HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience. Individuals with 4 years Nuclear Navy or aircraft controls experience is preferred. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgear, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment is a must. The candidate must be self-motivated, and be able to work both as a team member, as well as independently. Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on control, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrumentation systems within the facility while ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.

Responsibilities:

The I&C Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instrument, electrical and control systems within the power plant and associated Con Edison facilities. Four years technical experience includes power or chemical plants, paper mills, refineries, manufacturing, or related facilities.  Candidate will also participate in projects involving the implementation of design changes and major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls and Turbine Control Systems is preferred.


Physical Requirements:

The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., heat, noise, confined spaces) and be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

All candidates will be required to pass both a written placement exam and structured interview for the PST Electrical Technician position. A high school diploma or GED is required.






Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Assure that all work orders and equipment history are entered in the required computer systems. Consult and review technical manuals, instruction books, prints, sketches, manufacturer's catalogs, equipment history records and other references for specifications and performance information to assist in planning process. Identify spare parts and equipment located in various storerooms for use in field repairs. Work with EH&S, Engineering and other Departments, as necessary, to gather information to be used in Job Plans. May perform special job related assignments and studies as required. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills.

Selected candidates will be required to access/enter customer premises and have customer contact on a regular basis. The candidates will be expected to provide outstanding customer service and present a positive image of the company to customers. Knowledge and skill are required, but not limited to, in the following areas: the use of excavating safe work practices; knowledge and the ability to use environmental policies and procedures; ability to perform standard maintenance functions; the use of hand and power tools; ability to safely operate a jackhammer (90lbs. in weight) for extended periods of time; ability to pinpoint leaks in gas mains and services; and ability to obtain certificates of fitness and/or licenses as required. Knowledge and use of a computer is required for this position. Must be able to work under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:



Selected candidates must be capable of pushing/pulling/lifting up to 90lbs in weight, working in confined spaces and underground structures, working in all outdoor weather conditions, and walking/climbing/standing extensively. Candidate must have the ability to safely drive a box utility truck weighing up to and/or in excess of 10,000 pounds. Must be medically approved and fit-tested to wear a respirator. All candidates must also successfully complete a physical ability test, in addition to the required written test and interview.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate for this position must have a minimum Associate's Degree in Mechanical Technology (or related field) or HS/GED and a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience. Knowledge of thermodynamic theory and fluid dynamics and their practical application to power plant equipment are required. Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will conduct various tests of power plant equipment. These tests include, but are not limited to: vibration testing on rotating equipment, turbine and boiler thermodynamic testing and auxiliary equipment performance testing. The selected candidate will also be responsible for compiling routine data and special reports to evaluate cost and efficiency. 


Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must pass an OSHA physical and be medically approved and able to wear a respirator. This candidate must be able to lift and carry material, climb ladders, work outside in various weather conditions and be able to enter confined spaces. A valid driver's license is required.



The normal working hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm. However, certain periodic and emergency circumstances will involve work at nights and on weekends. The work location is East 75th Street, NY, NY.
