    Analyst (1H)

     



  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required in Accounting or Finance. An MBA is a plus.

     



  • Candidate must have 2-3 years work experience with at least 2 years direct experience in accounting, planning and analysis, budgeting or forecasting.

     



  • Systems experience a plus - Oracle, Hyperion Planning, Peoplesoft, Work Management Systems and familiarity with processing supply chain transaction.


  • Responsibilities: Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.     Prepares annual five -year operating and five-year capital budgets while assisting all organizations throughout the Company as required. Ensures adherence to corporate financial guidelines and verifies that all appropriate supporting documentation has been included. Analyzes, reviews and communicates with Directors and Managers in assigned organizations concerning the department’s actual performance, historical comparisons, expense reports, annual expenditure projections, other factors and inquiries, as required. Is available to work on teams, makes presentations, and conducts training sessions as well as communicate regularly and maintain relationships with Corporate Accounting.


    Utilizes strong Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access computer skills to input and retrieve information from the Company’s mainframe financial systems to develop and display actual and budget information in a clear and concise format. Represents Financial Services in a team environment with others or on committees as assigned. Participates in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required. Perform other related assignments as required.



    Analyst (1H) - Under the general supervision of the Section Manager, the Analyst will work with and assist Operating departments in the monitoring of actual performance versus budget on a monthly basis as well as resource requirements. By reviewing detail data in the Company’s accounting and financial systems, the Analyst will also perform root cause analysis of cost categories with significant and unanticipated variations. The Analyst will also provide analysis on the overall impact on the Company’s financial performance to determine corrective actions.


    Provides accounting and finance support to senior staff in the preparation of the monthly and year-to-date financial analysis relating to the overall corporate forecast and determines their impact on overall corporate financial performance. With some general guidance, prepares various accounting or financial related data, analysis schedules or reports of the Company’s financial statements and accounts. Assists in the development of the monthly financial analysis to senior management including updated financial projections and provide recommendations, as required.


    With some general guidance, utilizes the Oracle financial systems to develop and analyze operating and capital expenditures and other income statement categories, provide variance explanations, and answer financial related questions pertaining to operational requirements. Provides support and input in the development and installation of budgetary control systems. Provides support in the development of schedules, interrogatory responses and general information for rate filings.


    Other additional responsibilities will include participating in the overall monthly operating and capital expenditures financial analysis, assisting in performing studies and analytical job assignments that require financial, regulatory and technical knowledge and participating in investigations and conducting special assignments as required calling for individual judgment and responsibility. These responsibilities will involve interaction with both O&R and CECONY individuals and departments. With some general guidance, prepares and updates annual studies and programs corporate wide, as required.

    Qualifications: O&R's Technology and Automation Engineering is seeking to hire a Principal Engineer to join its Systems Engineering team. The position requires candidates to demonstrate in the application they possess the following required skills and abilities:


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering is required. BSEE is preferred.

  • All candidates must have 8+ years of business experience in Electrical or Mechanical automation, SCADA systems, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience in research and development project lifecycle from concept to field trails and commissioning / implementation is preferred.

  • Experience in logic programming or configuration of any automation control device; PLCs, DCS, other logical automation devices is required. Electric Control Relay programming is preferred.

  • Experience in design and configuration of a Human Machine Interface or SCADA systems for automation system visualization is required, Electric Utility SCADA is preferred.

  • Experience in the programming and configuration of serial communications between automation devices and to HMI/SCADA systems is preferred.

  • Radio communications and high speed network communications experience is preferred.

  • Experience with R&D projects and prototype testing and development is preferred.

  • Must have demonstrable experience mentoring and training peers and/or direct reports.

  • Registered or working towards a U.S. State Professional Engineer’s License or an advanced technical degree is preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge of electric utility distribution is preferred.

  • Familiarity with utility system design and construction is preferred.

  • Responsibilities: Serves as technical expert in the areas of Advanced Electrical Automation Engineering and all elements of distribution automation and SCADA systems. Under the general supervision of the Section Manager, provides the necessary engineering support to further the development of O&R’s distribution automation system including the installation, problem solving, testing and commissioning of field devices such as reclosers, SCADA operable switches and other distribution equipment equipped with communications. This position will be responsible for coordinating efforts with Electric Operations, Distribution Engineering, Telecom, the Distribution Control Center, the Technology Engineering and Distribution Automation teams. Serves as Project Engineer for all projects assigned.

    Responsible for providing oversight and leadership for implementation of projects, and providing monthly progress and financial reports to the appropriate company personnel. Directs activities and continually assesses contractor and Company resource requirements, budgets and schedules. Is regarded as a technical expert of Advanced Electrical Automation Engineering and all elements of distribution automation and SCADA systems. Acts as a liaison with all Company Departments during program implementation (specifically Electric Operations, Distribution Engineering, Telecom, the Distribution Control Center, Purchasing and the Systems Engineering departments). Works with field personnel in analyzing problems, assisting Standards Engineers with development of New Product Construction Standards and implementing these standards during early construction phase of new products. Works with the construction department to install, test, repair and commission DA field devices and troubleshoots DA problems as required. Evaluates the performance of DA field devices and recommends replacements and improvements. Works with vendors and evaluates new equipment for inclusion into DA programs.


    Works with the Electric Operation’s Tech group on troubleshoot the automation logic of DA equipment. Works with DSCADA engineers to insure adequacy and accuracy of analog, status and control signals from field device’s instrumentations. Directs, mentors, and teaches lower band engineers in the Technology and Automation Engineering group. Direction will include assigning and reviewing work, collaboration on new strategies, methods, and development of successful products. Develops informal and formal testing for Tech Lab performance trials of automation products and sensors. Develops field testing plans for field commissioning new automation equipment and systems. Understands construction and operation of electric delivery systems and has knowledge of automation and use of distribution automation devices such as reclosers, capacitors, and switches. Keeps informed of the industry trends and emerging technologies and keeps up-to-date with the latest developments in Advanced Electric Distribution Automation Engineering field by attending trade shows, technical conferences, and training seminars/classes. Uses software such as MS Project, as well as other Financial and Project Management tools, for managing construction projects. Attends departmental meetings as required. Participates in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required. Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.
