  • Responsibilities: Under general supervision is responsible for acquiring and applying broad knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations followed by the various functions within Support Operations and Customer Service and utilize same to assist the department to effectively and efficiently maximize corporate revenues. Responsible to research and analyze customer inquiries and complaints. The data will be used to make recommendations to improve policies and procedures, while improving customer satisfaction. This position will support all functions of Customer Support Operations including; Executive Communications, Credit and Collections, and Quality Assurance. Resolve escalated telephone inquiries and disputes, commission complaints, and prepare written executive communication responses. Prepare the month-end statistical reports, status notes for monthly departmental progress report, ATIP goals, and other regulatory reports as required. Develop and maintain written documentation of work activities and procedures in the Customer Support Operations Department. Monitor, identify research and resolve any issues that deter the successful completion of any of the department goals. Assist with the maintenance the company’s Medical Hardship and Life Support programs in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. Develop positive working relationships with regulatory staff and colleagues at other utilities to assist in the analysis of customer inquiries and the implementation of best practices. Participate in conferences to help build these relationships. Participate in the Company’s Storm Plan with your assignment to the Special Response Team to handle escalated calls and customers with Life Support Equipment. Perform other related assignments as required.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Environmental Science, Forestry, or other related field with 2 years of work experience in line clearance operations on electric transmission and/or distribution lines OR Associate’s Degree, preferably in Environmental Science, Forestry, or other related field with 4 years work experience in line clearance operations on electric transmission and/or distribution lines OR High School/GED and 5 years work experience in line clearance operations on electric transmission and/or distribution lines.

  • Certification by International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) as a Certified Arborist is preferred. This certification must be obtained within 18 months of being assigned to this position.

  • Certification by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a licensed pesticide applicator or technician under category 6A is preferred. This certification must be obtained within 18 months of being assigned to this position.

  • Prefer two years supervisory experience.

  • Must have strong decision making skills. Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required to effectively supervise contractor operations.

  • Responsibilities: Under general supervision, supervises the work of contract Vegetation Management crews to ensure compliance with the company’s vegetation management program and practices. Assures all contractor work is performed in a timely and efficient manner and is in accordance with established Company standards. Ensures that the contractor’s method of work conforms to local, state and federal regulations.

    Maintains a working knowledge of state and federal codes governing vegetation management along with Orange & Rockland’s electric standards, work procedures, and EH&S rules and guidelines. Supervises the work of contract Vegetation Management crews and contract inspectors to ensure that work is performed in compliance with job specifications, and that required clearances are achieved. Ensures all contractor work is performed in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA requirements. Performs written quality audits of contractors’ work and provides feedback to management. Recommends work process improvements to enhance quality and productivity. Provides expert arboriculture advice on customer inquiries regarding vegetation maintenance and utility line clearance requirements.


    Acts as the company representative at Town and Municipality meetings regarding utility vegetation maintenance requirements. Responds to emergencies during non-working hours. Reports contractor work performance through the contractor oversight system. Tracks and controls project costs. Utilizes Oracle to requisition, receipt, and approve payments. Supervises and participates in the preparation of studies and reports required by the Company and regulatory bodies. Maintains required records and reports in a manner suitable for inspection by Company auditors and governing agencies.   • Responsibilities: Plans, oversees and coordinates the daily assignments and activities of Electric Operations field crews. Ensures activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety and environmental instructions and procedures, operating procedures and engineering plans and specifications, in order to affect the safe, timely, efficient and reliable installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of the electric distribution system and associated equipment. Provides planning, supervision and technical expertise to the Equipment Technician group, ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, Company policies and appropriate industry standards. Facilitates efforts to achieve a zero harm and 100% compliance culture.

    Leads/participates in Human Performance Improvement initiatives and incorporates into daily activities. Directs the work force, prioritizes daily work assignments, and follows up to ensure work is completed correctly, safely, economically and in compliance with specifications and procedures. Provides technical guidance to technicians, engineering, operations and other field groups in support of routine (planned) and emergency (non- planned) work. Plans, coordinates and provides technical guidance to electrical construction projects requiring acceptance testing and commissioning of new Smart Grid / Distribution Automation equipment. Reviews, analyzes, and approves test results for routine and non-routine work in order to commission new or repaired equipment.


    Coordinates all necessary training to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operating procedures. Performs all administrative functions necessary to ensure proper operation of the local workout and office facilities, including timesheets, material ordering, payroll, polling and office operations. Ensures the work management system correctly reflects the department work activity. Coordinates work with other groups and takes appropriate action to ensure work is completed in a safe, timely, cost effective manner. Develops and updates operational, testing, maintenance and repair procedures. Administers training to field technicians as required. Provide technical assistance when troubleshooting problems arise on existing Smart Grid / Distribution Automation devices and when implementing new technologies in the field.


    Supervises technicians with responsibility for the testing, installation, maintenance and repair of all Smart Grid / Distribution Automation devices. These devices include (but are not limited to) reclosers, sectionalizers, MOABs and other remote operated switches, voltage regulators, sophisticated capacitors, distribution supervisory control, data acquisition (DSCADA) equipment, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) equipment, as well as other associated monitoring and communications devices. Assists in the development and preparation and communication of forecasts, budgets and special studies. Evaluates the performance of the group and assists in determining human resource needs and provides input into the organization’s budget, training, safety and environmental plans and programs. Communicates, coordinates and provides guidance to personnel on work-rule compliance, good housekeeping and work area protection practices. Monitors and administers safety, environmental and training programs. Promotes a customer service-oriented team by emphasizing professionalism, honesty, concern, courtesy, excellence and teamwork in the group.


    Monitors compliance with Company policies and procedures, e.g. Performance Evaluations, EEO, Substance Abuse, Discipline, Security, Productivity, Environmental Instructions, Standards of Business Conduct, etc. Monitors adherence to Company, governmental and regulatory requirements and provides liaison with agency representatives as required.     Responsibilities: With limited guidance from the Section Manager, the Senior Analyst works in partnership with the departments in developing and preparing the O&M and Capital budgets for the Organization, developing proactive action plans to enhance operational cost control, producing monthly & annual budget reports, year-end projected spending analysis and performing analysis on variations related to the operating and capital budgets. Responsible for performing a range of analytical assignments that require financial, regulatory and technical knowledge and expertise calling for independent judgment and responsibility, including studies, analysis, investigations and specific analytical assignments of major size and complexity within certain specialized areas that require a thorough knowledge of the Company’s policies and practices particularly related to the operating and capital budgets. These responsibilities will involve regular interaction with both O&R and CECONY employees and departments.

  • Responsibilities: Under general guidance of the Section Manager, the Unit Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the credit and collections departments for Orange and Rockland Utilities, which comprises electric, gas and sundry. Responsibilities will include the active and final account receivables and uncollectibles; the final bill collection and bankruptcy processes; the management of outside collection agencies; and the sundry receivables and uncollectibles. Responsible for tracking and reporting of all credit and collections data. Ensures all credit and collection practices and procedures are compliant with New York and New Jersey regulations. Is responsible for credit and collections processes and procedures, and the monitoring of the CIMS credit system performance which includes prioritizing required enhancements. Analyzes and evaluates key credit indicators and develops innovative approaches, strategies, and programs to improve performance. Establishes performance standards; plans, organizes, schedules and assigns resources to effectively meet workloads within the operation and improve productivity; ensures efficient, accurate and timely performance of all Credit Operations. Is responsible for the non-residential deposit policy. Manages the fraud claim and customer identity theft process. Is responsible for the social security identification process, including vendor procurement and implementation of changes. Initiates and manages the live agent outbound telephone call campaigns which include the mandatory winter and summer hardship telephone calls as well as the summer courtesy campaigns. Implement and manage the IVR telephone call campaigns. Acts as liaison with the accounts receivable vendor contracted to make these telephone calls. Handles all legal credit and collection matters, including the procurement of judgments and liens. Represents the company as the expert witness at trials and is responsible for acceptance or denial of settlement offers; respond to subpoenas pertaining to collection matters. Manages the bankruptcy function. Oversees the handling and processing of all accounts filing for bankruptcy protection; file proof of claims and administrative claims to protect the company’s interests. Develops and maintains databases for data-mining, analyzing and reporting purposes. Represents the Company at meetings with regulators and state utility groups. Is responsible for recommending and implementing new strategies, policies and procedures to improve active, final and uncollectible recoveries. Participates in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required. Performs other related tasks and assignments as directed.
