Qualifications: Brooklyn/Queens Services is looking to hire an Operating Supervisor to join its Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the daily activities of his/her direct reports, and for ensuring that safe work practices are followed. The successful candidate must also be energetic, flexible, and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the Way We Work Principles, the principles of diversity and inclusion, and adheres to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct, Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), and Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”). The candidate must also demonstrate a high level of interest in providing a +1 customers experience to our internally and externally customers, and must be able to promote continuous improvement, foster trust, promote team building, drive for productivity, and operations excellence. A Bachelor's degree is preferred or must have a High School Diploma and 5 years of technical experience working knowledge of the installation, maintenance, repair, removal, replacement, testing and inspection of the overhead and underground conductors, services and meters. Must be able to supervise employees and manage their productivity in the above listed functions, and possess good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Must have the ability to understand and interpret field constructed drawings and layouts. Must possess knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft technologies and scheduling software. Must demonstrate safety focus and knowledge of environmental laws and regulations. Must be capable of multi-tasking, and possess strong organizational skills to effectively plan, budget and track. Must demonstrate the ability to understand and interpret field constructed drawings and layouts. Must demonstrate working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft office suite applications, Logica suite, Focal Point, CRMS, ProField, and proficiency in the use of Field Manager.




Responsibilities: Supervise weekly employees in the physical installation, repair, maintenance, removal, replacement, testing and inspection of overhead and underground conductors, services and meters of the electrical distribution system. Ensure that all work activities are performed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner and in accordance with established policies, procedures, engineering plans and specifications and environmental laws and regulations by conducting safety talks, providing support and resources and conducting safety audits. Maintain mandatory compliance and skills training as required by OSHA and company specifications, and by taking corrective action and giving timely feedback. Interpret computerized reports and determine their application for work related activities and ensure that Crew Reports are accurate and system approvals are completed, as well as accounting for and approving expenditures for labor, material supplies and equipment within prescribed budgets.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to work outdoors and under extreme weather conditions. Must be able to walk and drive extensively, as well as climb and bend. Must be available for emergency work 24 hours per day. Must be willing to work on weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to work in confined spaces, on ladders, in buckets, and at high elevations. Must be able to obtain medical approval for both a CDL and respirator. Must be qualified to obtain an NYC Asbestos O&M License. Operating Supervisor must be willing to be on 24 hour call duty to respond to system emergencies.
