Qualifications: Candidates for this position must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology, or related field of study. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related field of study or candidates having completed two-year United States military academic programs including Nuclear Electronics Technician, Nuclear Electrician, and Aviation Electronics Technician are welcome with a HS diploma or GED. All candidates will be required to pass both a written placement exam and structured interview for the PST Electrical Technician position. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of basic AC and DC electrical power theory and circuit analysis, including three phase AC power systems, as well as a strong working knowledge of mathematics and the ability to perform calculations involving basic trigonometry and vector analysis. Candidates must have knowledge and experience with computer systems and must be able to use these to perform automated testing, as well as prepare spreadsheets and technical reports. Candidates must also possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.








Responsibilities: Substations Operations Protective Systems Testing in Various Bronx Locations, NY is looking for Electrical Technicians (Local 1-2) to perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and systems, substation equipment, control systems and telephone lines in substations and other field locations.

Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing, and the ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs. Candidates must be able and willing to work in various weather and station conditions, including heat, noise, and in confined spaces. Candidates must be able and willing to work with, and in the vicinity of high voltage and other high-energy systems. Candidates must also be able and willing to safely climb ladders and work on top of elevated platforms and equipment, as well as in manholes below grade. A valid driver's license and personal vehicle for daily use on Company business is required. This position may require working various shifts and overtime to meet job schedules.

Qualifications: The Protective Systems Testing Department is looking for a self-motivated, resourceful and articulate candidate to join its Management team. The candidate must possess a "can-do" attitude, have a clear sense of accountability and understand what it takes to meet customer needs. The candidate must be able to multi-task and be a team player. An Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology is required. Five years' experience in protective relays and systems or related experience is required. Three to five years supervisory experience or related experience preferred. The selected candidate must possess strong computer skills and be proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Strong oral and written communication skills are required.



B.S. in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Substation equipment is strongly desired.

Responsibilities: Directly supervise and train the department's technicians in the maintenance testing of Substation relay protection systems, transmission and distribution equipment, local and supervisory controls and other equipment. Directs the work force, prioritizes daily work assignments, and follows-up to ensure work is completed correctly, safely, economically and in compliance with specifications and procedures. Provides technical guidance to Technicians. Also provides guidance to Engineering, Operations and Maintenance and other field groups in support of routine (planned) and non routine (emergency trouble-shooting) testing. Plans, coordinates and provides technical guidance for electrical construction projects requiring Acceptance Testing & Commissioning of new equipment and protection. Reviews, analyzes, and approves test results for routine and non routine work in order to commission new or repaired equipment or systems. Coordinates all necessary training to ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental and Operating procedures. Performs all administrative functions necessary to ensure proper operation of the local workout/office facilities (including time cards, material ordering, payroll, office operations, etc). Ensures the work management system correctly reflects the department's work activities. Also, coordinates work with other groups and takes appropriate action to ensure work is completed in a timely, cost-effective and safe manner.


Physical Requirements: Position requires extensive walking and climbing. Must be physically fit to wear a respirator. Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, holidays and various shifts. Availability for calls off-hours is required. Must have a valid driver's license to travel within the service territory. Use of a personal car for company business is required.
