Qualifications: Substation Operations is looking to hire an Associate Engineer A (Dielectric) to join its team. Must be self-motivated, resourceful and articulate. Must possess a 'can-do' attitude, have a clear sense of accountability and understand what it takes to meet customers’ needs. The successful candidate will review and analyze data related to the dielectric system. He/She will initiate leak committee calls and ensure leak reporting is in accordance with procedures. Coordinate dielectric system upgrades with Central Engineering to create a link between that organization and the end users. The successful candidate must be able to exercise independent judgment and have excellent presentation skills. Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. 2 years’ work experience in operations, maintenance and construction of Hydraulic Systems is preferred. Familiarity/knowledge of the Dielectric Fluid Systems and the relevant equipment associated is preferred. Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics required. Experience with environmental procedures and requirements required. Must have strong written, oral, presentation, and communication skills. Computer skills are required including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project.



Experience with USi LDS, MAC Products System, CSTEOS and Maximo preferred.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will handle the following responsibilities: Analyzes Dielectric System Data including pumphouse pressure charts, daily tank level trends, flow meter readings, USi Leak Detection System and dielectric trending system to determine any possible oil leaks. Ensures periodic readings are conducted regularly to monitor potential leaks. Convenes the leak committee for further action on potential leaks. Gathers necessary data and information for reporting during leak committee activities. Ensures that leak reporting is in accordance with all company and regulatory procedures. Generates leak review and critique reports focusing on lessons learned and ways to improve the leak detection, search and resolution processes. Creates a monthly report of all leak activity including total oil loss and oil lost to the environment based on calculations and field reports. Performs DEC mandated quarterly tests on automated leak detection systems (USi and MAC products). Maintains oil inventory and plans oil movement and storage needs. Works with Central Engineering and the Field Operations Planner in the design and planning of Dielectric Systems upgrades. Provides technical support for field organizations in construction and maintenance of the dielectric system. Ensures Control Center is compliant with all dielectric procedures. Ensures dielectric operating drawings are accurate and commensurate with field conditions. Enters leak related data into CTSEOS and coordinates leak mitigation schedules with transmission operations. Presents information and standing compared to leak goals to upper-management upon request. Analyzes historical data to optimize alarm criteria for various leak warning systems.


Physical Requirements: Valid Driver's License required. Must be able to travel to company locations as needed.

Qualifications: Steam Equipment Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Equipment Engineer. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. A thorough understanding of plant electric system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing or analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry or marine propulsion is required. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company and Industry codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Additionally, strong computer skills and familiarity with the Incident Command System are required. Computer literacy (including MS Office) is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions.



SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. Applicants who also have a Masters degree require 6 years of applicable experience. PE license preferred. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H): Requires 2 years total work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience Additional: MS degree preferred. NYC Master Electrician license preferred.

Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather and be willing to work in a plant environment. Must wear appropriate attire and PPE for the work location and duties. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
