Qualifications: Gas Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join its Gas Control Sequence and Scheduling group. The selected candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of work experience preferably in engineering or computer systems -OR- an Associate’s degree with 4 years of work experience in operations or engineering including but not limited to gas operations or engineering. Related work experience includes experience with scheduling field activities, system modeling and/or familiarity with Gas Operations work. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with both internal and external customers and various levels of management. Candidate must have prior experience demonstrating project management skills and/or managing multiple assignments. The selected candidate must be flexible and have the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously as required. Candidate must be proficient in the use of computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.



Work experience in planning is preferred. Experience with Shared Point, Internet applications and familiarity with Google Earth is a plus. Knowledge or experience using GIS (Gas Information System) and Byers (Utility mapping system) or comparable applications is preferred

Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for assisting Gas Control Operators in maintaining the integrity of the Company’s Gas Transmission and Distribution system. This includes the processing, scheduling and sequencing of Gas Engineering and Gas Operations planned activities covered under IP-9 and monitoring excavation activities on or near the Gas Transmission system as per G-11863. Review third party activity reported to the Gas Sequence and Scheduling group, determine appropriate Gas Transmission Contingency case, if valves are required to be staffed, issue appropriate notifications, and coordinate staffing of valves as needed. Initiate discussion with Gas Distribution and Transmission Engineering for support with modeling as needed. Track activity including New York Facilities Gas Transmission activities, major gas transmission projects, Leak Survey activities, Pressure Control activities, and Gas Transmission Main Patrols. Maintain the tracking systems capturing emergency and scheduled work on the Gas Transmission and Distribution systems.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid Driver's License and ability to travel within Company service territory, as necessary. Must be able to work a rotating schedule of 40 hours Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Qualifications: Steam Equipment Engineering is looking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its management team as an Electrical Equipment Engineer. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required. A thorough understanding of plant electric system design, construction, operations, maintenance, testing or analysis in the utility industry, oil & gas industry or marine propulsion is required. Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. Either the possession of or ability to obtain an in-depth knowledge of Company and Industry codes, standards, procedures and specifications is required. The ideal candidate for this dynamic position must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence, and possess a high regard for Con Edison’s Corporate Values and Mission. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal/external customers and agencies and various levels of management. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well-organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership skills including experience in direct supervision, and the ability to positively manage and motivate others is required. Must also be available for emergency work 24/7 as required by system conditions.



SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. Applicants who also have a Masters degree require 6 years of applicable experience. PE license preferred. ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H): Requires 2 years total work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience Additional: MS degree preferred. NYC Master Electrician license preferred.

Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Travel is also required to attend various meetings at non-Company locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather and be willing to work in a plant environment. Must wear appropriate attire and PPE for the work location and duties. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

The candidate will be responsible for the management of selected projects, in concert with user organizations. This responsibility will include the evaluation of R&D needs of internal departments and making recommendations of areas for development. Working with others within R&D and other company departments, the Engineer will be expected to provide technical expertise, project management and guidance for the projects; develop project rationales, cost benefit analyses, budget estimates, scopes-of-work, requests for proposals, contractor selection and bid evaluations; negotiate contracts and recommend cooperative agreements; evaluate results and recommend implementation plans. The candidate will ensure good communications are maintained with the internal customer and the technology provide regarding schedules and budgets by providing relevant research and progress reports to the internal customer. The selected candidate will schedule, participate in, and/or lead status meetings or conference calls with vendors and internal customers. The Engineer will develop and deliver presentations as part of public outreach efforts, internal communications, government communications, and industry groups.

Participate in development of standard engineering documents such as standard drawings, engineering documents templates; Participate in project field walks. Performs other related assignments as required
