Must have a design background to produce structural repair drawings or sketches as needed to facilitate structural repairs of damaged/deteriorated facilities to ensure the safe and reliable operation of distribution structures and equipment, must be able to perform structural calculations in accordance with current Code practices and requirements. The candidate must be detail oriented, work under pressure and be able to multitask concurrent assignments. The candidate must have project management skills and the ability to develop root cause analysis reports. The candidate must have the ability to diplomatically and effectively interact with internal and external customers, support staffs and various levels of management. Intensive experience in areas of structural design/ application and the ability to function as expert Company witness when necessary. Must be proficient with computer applications (MS office, cad applications, etc.).



Associate Engineer A (1H): Must have 2 years related work experience. PE preferred. Engineer (2L): Must have 3 years related work experience with 2 years of structural experience. PE preferred. Senior Engineer (2H): Must have 8 years related work experience with 4 years of structural experience. PE required.

Responsibilities: Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. A commitment to the Way We Work Principles, and adheres the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. Develops and implements structural designs for electrical facilities associated with the distribution system. Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated performance of value-added assignments is required. Requires a BS degree in Engineering and relevant work experience as follows: ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H) – Requires 2 years work experience to include one year applicable engineering experience. ENGINEER (2L) – 3 years applicable engineering experience. SR. ENGINEER (2H) – 8 years applicable engineering experience. Experience in drafting technical procedures, business process documents or specifications for the electric power industry is preferred. Familiarity with ISO or RTO rules is preferred. Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards preferred. Responsibilities: Perform all day-to-day technical and administrative tasks associated with the Con Edison NERC Reliability Compliance Program. Prepare audit document packages for submittal to the NPCC and participate in on-site, off-site and spot check audits. Ensure the timely, accurate and well-documented submittal of data to NPCC. Under the guidance of the Section Manager, review data submittals proposed by Company organizations to ensure adequacy and alignment with relevant NERC standards. Assist Company organizations in the development of compliance violation Mitigation Plans. Monitor and report on status of Mitigation Plan implementation. Support various departments within Con Edison to ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards. Write procedures to detail and identify the functions of the Compliance Program. Become proficient in all NERC Standards and present and explain the NERC Standards to other Company organizations. Make compliance program presentations to various Company organizations and at the executive level.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to travel to various Company locations and to other companies if required. Must be available to travel out-of-town (including Canada) and represent the Company at ISO, NPCC and NERC meetings. Must have valid driver's license.

Responsibilities: Provide managerial, estimating/financial and consulting assistance to Central Operations major project program and Operation Services initiatives. Oversee all levels of estimates including: Concept, Outside Contractor bids, order-of-magnitude, Authorization and Appropriation. Direct and monitors the functions of staff who prepare cost estimates for major/complex multi-disciplined engineering/design projects. Serve as financial advice & counsel regarding funding requests for the Capital Budget. Work closely with Central Operation’s Capital Program Coordinator to establish professional budget estimates for the current and 5 year Capital Budget. Work with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and various departments within Central Engineering to resolve estimating contract issues. Coordinate and analyze data for reporting goals and performance indicators. Develop computer applications and provide financial techniques to support staff and field operations. Interface with Corporate Accounting to implement procedures and policies relating to financial and budgeting matters. Develop new and effective reports and techniques for compiling, analyzing and evaluating financial and productivity data. Prepare and update trends and organizational charts. Complies with all Company safety, health and environmental programs. Ensures that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Will performs Special Projects as requested.

Experience with transformers (up to 120,000kVA), switchgear, breakers and power cables (up to 69kV), generators (up to 230,000kVA), motors, MCC’s, power panels, buss-work, or electric transmission is required. A working knowledge of equipment sizing and analysis calculations, life cycle management, protection schemes, UPS, and dielectric fluids is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting electric operations is required. Knowledge of industry standards and process safety measures is required. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience including engineering projects, planning, and utility system design. Responsibilities: Perform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies. Generate and drive corrective actions. Use plant and industry standard software and analysis tools to initiate performance and availability improvement plans. Participate in project planning and construction (scope review, design basis requirements, walk-downs, code and procedure compliance, acceptance testing, etc.). Planning and support of major component overhauls and system outages. Root cause analysis of forced outages and component failures. Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company. Documenting and driving correction of unplanned design basis changes. Generate or review acceptance test plans, and oversee or observe testing. Review and maintain System Descriptions, One-lines and other design basis documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management. Provide engineering support to Station management. Represent the Section or Company on committees working on various issues. Establish and maintain effective lines of communication among various internal and external organizations.



The candidate is required to provide technical and shift support during system emergencies.

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license. Must be able to travel to various Company work locations within the five boroughs. Qualifications: The Rate Engineering Department at Con Edison leads the development of tariffs and rates for electric, gas and steam service to meet the Company’s required revenues, address regulatory requirements and reflect changes in the business environment such as advanced metering infrastructure and the increasing penetration of distributed energy resources. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Technical Specialist. To be successful the candidate must possess: (a) superior oral and written communication and presentation skills; (b) strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead projects involving internal and external organizations; (c) the ability to handle multiple assignments with a high level of attention to detail while still meeting deadlines; and (d) proficiency in working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The Technical Specialist must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related discipline. A master’s degree or MBA is considered a plus. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of eight years of work experience, including a minimum of five years of experience in utility regulatory or policy matters.




Responsibilities: The selected individual will: design, administer, and interpret existing tariffs and rate structures; develop new tariffs and rate structures that meet Company strategic objectives and competitive challenges; and ensure that tariffs are interpreted correctly. A key function of this position is to understand how changes in the regulatory environment and the Company’s business needs affect the Company’s tariffs and propose and implement tariff amendments to address those changes. The selected individual will work with both Rate Engineering employees and cross-departmental teams. This position requires extensive communication regarding tariff and rate issues to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, among which are various regulatory agencies. Specific responsibilities are as follows: 1. Prepare complex, comprehensive tariff changes and cover letters to regulatory agencies explaining the changes. 2. Interpret regulatory commission orders and, working with affected internal stakeholder departments, prepare tariff amendments in compliance with such orders. Work with affected internal departments to assist in the implementation of tariff changes. 3. Prepare and present testimony before regulatory bodies; analyze testimony of opposing witnesses and assist in preparing cross-examination; and assist in the preparation of legal briefs. 4. Participate in settlement negotiations and assist in the preparation of settlement documents. 5. Participate in generic and other regulatory proceedings and collaboratives as required, and help guide/influence policy on rate and tariff-related issues. 6. Conduct studies to determine whether modifications to existing tariffs are required to address new types of service and changes occurring in the business environment (e.g., advanced metering and more distributed energy resources). Develop tariff amendments to address these changes. 7. Keep abreast of developments in the regulatory and ratemaking areas through review of opinions and decisions issued by regulatory agencies, review of other utilities' tariffs and rate structures, and membership in and attendance at industry meetings and seminars. 8. Interpret the Company's tariffs; provide guidance to internal and external customers concerning tariff provisions and rate structures; and research historical tariff provisions as needed. 9. Represent the Rate Engineering department internally in tariff-related discussions and CEO Certification activities. 10. Represent the Company at meetings with regulatory agencies, utilities and other external stakeholders and maintain open communication with regulatory agency personnel. 11. Make all filings within the appropriate deadlines required by applicable regulatory agencies. 12. Prepare notices of tariff amendments to be published in the New York State Register and in local newspapers.
