Preference will be given to those with the following experience: The candidate must be knowledgeable in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, etc. as a minimum. Preference will be given to those with the following: Gas Engineering, Gas Operations, utility work, industrial, heavy commercial or petrochemical industry experience. The candidate must have a working knowledge of gas codes (NYCRR Part 255, DOT 49 CFR Part 192), NFPA, Fire Codes or governmental permitting regulations.



ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work and design experience. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience. P.E. License is preferred. Project management experience preferred. Preference will be given to those with the following: Gas Engineering, Gas Operations, utility work, industrial, heavy commercial or petrochemical industry experience. Knowledge of pipeline welding, non-destructive testing, and pipeline construction for all candidates is also preferred.

Responsibilities: The engineer will be responsible for the complete management of selected projects; design and review of gas transmission and distribution systems, including design, equipment, and installation specifications, bid preparation and evaluation, appropriations, scheduling, construction and acceptance testing. The engineer will provide technical support and guidance to operations, maintenance and construction personnel, as well as providing direct field support in response to failures and emergencies. The engineer will make technical and economical evaluations to determine the best design features for the gas systems. The Candidate will be required to travel to all Con Edison sites requiring support.



A valid driver's license is required. Travel within service territory required. Selected candidate must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The working environment consists of both office and field settings. Field work may require extensive walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and need to work in environments with exposure to noise, heat, confined spaces, heights, etc. Must be able to wear respirator, full body fall protection and associated required PPE.

Responsibilities: The selected individual will be responsible for: (a) the development of monthly rate adjustments, which provide for recovery of supply costs, and other monthly adjustments applicable to the Company’s electric, gas and steam rates and services; (b) preparation and filing with regulatory agencies monthly statements and filing letters; (c) conducting supporting analyses of monthly adjusters and preparing bill impact analyses, as required; (d) preparing reconciliations of supply charge mechanisms and other cost recovery mechanisms; (e) preparing tariff language and filing letters to reflect required changes to the Company’s electric, gas and steam tariffs; (f) maintaining well organized files and accurate records, including maintaining back-up for computer files and safeguarding computer facilities, reports, and work papers for the Company’s monthly rate adjustments and other filings; (g) performing other related tasks and assignments as required to support the Rate Engineering Department; (h) interacting with other Company departments and other utilities in developing monthly rate adjustments, preparing tariff language, and making other filings; (i) data collection, evaluation, manipulation, review, summary, and presentation; and/or, (j) coding and utilizing SAS programs.

Experience and expertise in application and development of technical principles and practices associated with Electrical Utility systems is required. Experience shall be specific to the engineering and application of Power Systems, Substations and Transmission facilities. Experience with conceptual design, system planning and electrical analysis is highly desirable. Strong oral and written communications skills are required for managing projects, making presentations and project conflict resolution. Must have a BS in Engineering. Computer skills are essential. Professional Engineer license preferred



Senior Engineer (2H): Must have minimum 8 years experience in the design, analysis or operation of power systems, high voltage substations and transmission systems. Applicants with a Masters require 6 years experience. Engineer (2L): Must have minimum 3 years applicable experience. Associate Engineer A (1H): Must have 2 years work experience to include at least 1 year applicable engineering experience.

Responsibilities: Will evaluate project requirements; prepare scopes of work, design criteria, construction packages, economic analysis, authorization and appropriation funding requests and engineering specifications. Coordinate projects with users and construction and provide field support. Monitor and report on project status, schedules and costs. Interface with or direct project work teams of discipline engineers and designers. Address outage, safety and environmental constraints as required. Prepares or directs the preparation of equipment, cable and accessory purchase specifications; reviews and accepts manufacturer’s proposals and drawings. Serves as Lead Discipline Engineer with decision-making capability, meets with other departments on the erection, testing, maintaining and supplying consultation for the installation of equipment. Responds to emergency calls by operating departments and makes field decisions in his area of responsibility.



Environment and Safety: Ensures Company environmental and safety procedures and goals are incorporated into the project designs. Creates the EH&S Checklist for project installation packages. Manages projects in Project Explorer

Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license for travel within service territory. Must be able to work in substation / switching station areas. Must be able to crawl and walk between electrical equipment. This position requires walking indoors, outdoors and ladder climbing.

SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience (applicants with a Masters degree require 6 years of experience). P.E. Responsibilities: Use technical competence to determine the civil scope-of-work for a project. Prepare advanced planning documents, scoping documents, budget requests and appropriation documents. Prepare detailed specifications for projects. Meet with vendors and customers to optimize the proposed design. Perform economic evaluations. Establish project schedules. Provide support to existing and proposed Company Substation & Transmission facilities, Purchasing and Construction Departments for the procurement and construction of projects. Supervise both in-house and out-of-house design efforts. Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.

Responsibilities: Investigate system incidents to determine root cause and issue recommendations for corrective action. Review schematic and wiring diagrams and test result data. Perform short circuit calculations and relay coordination studies. Develop Corrective Action Plans to prevent relay misoperations. The candidate will keep his/her supervisor informed on a timely basis of actual and/or anticipated problems of the assignments that are hi/her responsibility. Work closely with other departments to perform problem analysis and specify relay tests. Periodically, must be available 24 hours a day to consult with operating organizations on relay problems. Resolve emergencies associated with relay protection systems. Develop and issue relay protection settings as needed to for Corrective Action Plans. May on occasion design and apply relay protection systems, including teleprotection channels. Design modifications to existing relay systems, sometimes in steps to minimize equipment outages. Participate in field walks and emergency project meetings. Develop descriptive documents regarding relay protection systems, for use by operating personnel. Respond as needed to requests from State, Regional, and Federal regulatory agencies. Assure compliance to applicable State, Regional, and Federal standards, guidelines, criteria, etc.


Physical Requirements: Driver’s license required for travel within service territory and for meeting with other utilities. Must be available for travel both regionally and continent-wide, to attend conferences, meetings, etc. as needed.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree in a financial or technical related field. Masters degree preferred. Requires 8 years work experience in design/engineering major construction projects. Requires working experience with MS Office and working knowledge of in-house computer systems.




Responsibilities: Provide managerial, estimating/financial and consulting assistance to Central Operations major project program and Operation Services initiatives. Oversee all levels of estimates including: Concept, Outside Contractor bids, order-of-magnitude, Authorization and Appropriation. Direct and monitors the functions of staff who prepare cost estimates for major/complex multi-disciplined engineering/design projects. Serve as financial advice & counsel regarding funding requests for the Capital Budget. Work closely with Central Operation’s Capital Program Coordinator to establish professional budget estimates for the current and 5 year Capital Budget. Work with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and various departments within Central Engineering to resolve estimating contract issues. Coordinate and analyze data for reporting goals and performance indicators. Develop computer applications and provide financial techniques to support staff and field operations. Interface with Corporate Accounting to implement procedures and policies relating to financial and budgeting matters. Develop new and effective reports and techniques for compiling, analyzing and evaluating financial and productivity data. Prepare and update trends and organizational charts. Complies with all Company safety, health and environmental programs. Ensures that safe work practices are followed in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Will performs Special Projects as requested.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk down jobs in the field/visit various field locations, and wear the appropriate PPE. Requires valid driver’s license

Qualifications: The EHS Engineering & Construction Department within EHS, is seeking to hire a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join the group. The selected candidate must be well organized, detail oriented, able to render sound business decisions, flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Candidate must have a high regard for personal accountability, and understand the critical importance of commitment to excellence. The selected candidate must demonstrate a high energy level and promote a positive work ethic in support of our corporate values. Must possess strong oral and written communications skills and have the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, regulatory agency personnel, government officials, community and environmental group representatives. Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on EHS related discipline. One year related work experience or Con Edison field experience a plus.



Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on an EHS related discipline must have a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience. Individuals with a Bachelor's Degree In a non-technical discipline (e.g., business, social sciences, etc.) must have a minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience. Individuals with an Associate's Degree in a related discipline must have a minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience. Individuals with a High School diploma/GED must have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities: Provide EHS Support back up for CS, CM, and Shop Teams; provide EHS support for special projects. Promotes a culture of honesty, integrity and openness regarding EH& S issues. Ensures that EH&S information is accurately and efficiently disseminated to operating field groups. Provide guidance to ensure implementation of plans, programs and strategies so that local operations effectively protect workers, the general public and the environment from the potential physical, chemical and biological hazards associated with or produced Company operations and activities. Maintains general expertise on EH&S topics, assists in the development of training classes, and delivers quality presentations to Company employees. Conducts field audits of Company crews and the contractor work force, attends post event meetings, and seeks immediate corrective actions. Ensure that all field group documentation, including but not limited to permits, licenses, certificates, reports and inspection records are submitted and/or maintained in a time, complete and accurate accessible manner as required by government regulations and the Company policies and procedures. Development performance standards, criteria and goal in conjunction with the field groups, continually measures performance, and reports on status of attainment of goals. Assumes Emergency Management roles and responsibilities to support the Company’s Coast Storm Plan. Reduce EH&S Notices of Violations. Develop and implement new Safety Strategies, Work Process Improvements, and Resource Conservation Initiative; conduct EHS&S Self Assessments. The selected candidate would be responsible for tracking daily SHIMs entries and maintaining multiple EHS data spreadsheets and safety information folders. EMIS coordinator responsible for spill closures; liaison with Law and Workers’ Compensation resolving open cases; procurement coordinator for Construction safety equipment. Conduct accident and injury reviews; coordinate multiple Accident Review Committee meetings for Company and contractors. Prepare for the Vice President detailed safety statistics, incident reviews, HPI talking points for weekly safety calls an meetings. Prepare multiple Business and Safety meeting presentations. Author and communication Situation Summaries, Safety Focuses and Spotlights on Safety communications. Directly reply to GM data request and customized analyses; maintain Construction EHS KPI and maintain monthly KPI reports; calculate and forecast KPIs for VP meeting and communication; produce Questioning Knowledge slide packages and attend Central Operations Excellence Meetings; coordinate Construction EHS Awards Program Perform other related assignments as required.


Physical Requirements: Valid driver’s license required. Must be willing to travel to various locations and be prepared to respond to emergencies and work weekends, if required. Position may require walking, standing or climbing. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment for electric, gas and steam Company facilities.

In addition, Windows Scripting, automation and/or computer operations expertise required. Must have working knowledge of Remote Access technologies. Prefer experience in network, and computer operations. Should have excellent skills in: troubleshooting and problem resolution; interacting with customers in person and on the telephone; verbal and written communications; and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities: With minimal guidance provides support for all LAN/WAN initiatives for Central Engineering. The System Analyst will assist in the support, diagnosis, and configuring of computer equipment. The candidate will: Image, install, and support Engineering and workstations, laptops, tablets (Surface Pro, Samsung Slate, etc.) and associated equipment. The System Analyst is expected to support and administer Central Engineering’s document and drawing management systems. The System Analyst will work with contracted vendors to resolve Remote Access (CERA) issues. Provides off-hours on-call support when necessary. Escalates problems to resident and industry experts in an expeditious manner. Acts as the liaison between department users and the Help Center in solving trouble tickets. The prospective candidate must also be able to install and troubleshoot software/applications on Central Engineering servers. Maintain up-to-date inventory of all workstations, laptops, tablets, printers, plotters, and peripheral equipment throughout Central Engineering using Computer Cost Central, and Active Directory. Manage projects as assigned by his or her manager. The candidate will be expected to evaluate current systems and applications to provide input in upgrades and enhancements based on new industry standards.


Physical Requirements: Should have a valid driver’s license, be able to lift desktop computers, and bend, stoop, kneel and/or sit for long durations.
