Qualifications: Shared Services Cost Management and CECONY Ops Cost Management are seeking dynamic and motivated professionals to assist senior members of the Cost Management team to develop and integrate proactive approaches to cost management in the organizations they support. This includes conducting financial analyses and looking for opportunities to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and eliminate waste. The basic objective of employees in these positions is to assist in providing the following services to the organization they support: (1) budget development and planning; (2) monthly budget monitoring, reporting, and forecasting; (3) ad hoc analyses; (4) consolidated management reporting; (4) rate case process support; (5) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) development and reporting; and (6) financial management of contractors. The position is focused on the development of a “culture of financial excellence” in which employees throughout the company seek and accept the responsibility to effectively manage costs.



The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred. A minimum of one to three years of any combination of utility accounting, planning and administration, and budgeting experience is required. Operations, engineering, and/or supervisory experience are a plus. A working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications is required. The ability to learn and use new systems such as Oracle EBS, Hyperion Planning, Business Intelligence, and Work Management is required. Knowledge of retired legacy systems (e.g., CARE, Impromptu) is a plus. Good oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities: Assists senior members of the Cost Management team in ensuring that O&M, Clearing, and Capital budgets are maintained within appropriate funding, including the planning and development of organizational 5-year O&M, Clearing, Capital, and Human Resource plans at the project, activity, section, and element of expense level. – Assists in the analysis, review, and communications with managers in assigned organizations concerning the department’s actual performance, historical comparisons, expense reports, and annual expenditure projections. -- Monitors actual financial performance and attainment of KPIs against plans on a monthly basis. -- Assists in the development of action plans to enhance cost control for assigned organizations. -- Assists in the performance of root cause analyses on cost categories with significant or unanticipated variations and determine corrective measures. -- Assists in the rate case process, including the development of program changes and white papers and the preparation of exhibits and testimony. -- Assists in the verification process to ensure the existence and effectiveness of administrative and financial controls. – Assists in the development of departmental business plans. -- Assists organizations in drafting justifications and performing cost/benefit analyses for capital projects. – Assists in the training and development of operating and support personnel on finance- and system-related topics, including Oracle EBS and Business Intelligence. – Assists in the financial management of contractors in the assigned organization. -- Works in team situations and participates in cross-functional teams as required. -- Performs other tasks as required.


Physical Requirements: The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.

Qualifications: Cost Management is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its group. The ideal candidates for this position must demonstrate a high energy level, and understand the vital importance of commitment to excellence and possess a high regard for Con Edison's Corporate Values and Mission Statement. Must be flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field is required. The successful candidate must possess three to five years of general accounting, planning and administration and budgeting experience. Must have experience with Oracle and Business Intelligence tools. Knowledge in the following systems is also desirable; Oracle E Business Suites products Business Intelligence, Finance Supply Chain and Workforce Planning; Payroll Budget Systems; Hyperion; and Work Measurement Management Systems; Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must have familiarity with purchasing processes – processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders and contract administration. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills.



Master’s Degree is preferred. Operations Experience is preferred. Engineering experience is a plus. Supervisory experience is a plus.

Responsibilities: Ensure the implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and government regulations. Commitment to the Way We Work Principles, and adheres to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), discipline and security. Assist in the monitoring of actual performance versus plans on a monthly basis. Plan, implement, coordinate and assist in the development and preparation of the Organization’s O&M, Capital, Human Resource Plans at the section, element and account level. Publish completed plans in accordance with prescribed guidelines. Perform root cause analysis on cost categories with significant or unanticipated variations and determine corrective actions. Prepare midmonth and 2nd day workday estimates on a monthly basis with accuracy within limits set by the organization. Prepare in depth cost analysis and statistical evaluation of monthly O&M and Capital expenditures through the use of computer applications in a comprehensible manner to non-accounting oriented personnel, as a means to better monitor costs. Conduct cost analysis to reduce cost and ensure compliance with Corporate Goals and Objectives. Develop proactive action plans to enhance cost control in the operations. Conduct departmental reviews of the O&M, Capital and Human Resource plans. Work with local cost management and operating departments on all cost management, financial and accounting issues. Responsible for supporting rate case process; program changes, preparation of exhibits and testimony. Prepare financial compliance reviews. Provide support and interface with senior management on Cost Management issues to achieve common goals. Monitors and reports on staffing levels, attrition, EEO statistics and excused time. Interact and communicate with all levels of management and weekly employees. Work with and assist Operating departments and interface with HR teams/Workforce Planning group in quantifying resource requirements. Work with operating organizations to develop and track units of work cost measurements. Prepare annual review of cost drivers to assess the feasibility of changing of changing previously developed unit cost standards. Conduct reviews, as required, to verify existence and effectiveness of administrative and financial controls; make recommendations as appropriate. Indoctrinate operating personnel in the proper use of accounts and related accounting procedures. Develop man-hour labor and billing rates as needed by the department. Coordinate reviews for Gross Operating, Capital and Human Resource plans. Perform pertinent analyses and statistical evaluation of performance trends relative to costs and Human Resources to ensure compliance with corporate goals and objectives. Track and plan productive hours. Communicate budget performance to all levels of management. Monitor and report on KPIs and other performance measures. Develop, implement, and manage goals and initiatives for the Organization. Interact with engineering groups. Identify opportunities for process improvement.


Physical Requirements: Position may require travel to other company locations for related business or meetings.
