Responsibilities: In addition to being the primary modeler for the PROMOD and STONER programs, the position will maintain the outage schedules, perform technical and economic forecasts for the production and purchase of steam, maintain and upgrade the Steam MIMIC system, prepare testimony for regulatory proceedings, and contribute to developing operating plans to assure reliable service at reasonable costs while complying with applicable regulations. The position will liaison with Energy Management, System Operations, Corporate EH&S, Steam Business Development, Long Range Planning, and Strategic Planning. The position will also assist with preparedness and support for Steam’s responses to corporate emergencies, rain/storm events, and oil spills.


Physical Requirements: A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory as needed.

Qualifications: Steam Services is seeking an Associate Engineer A or Engineer to work under the direction of the Manager of Sales in Steam Business Development in the areas of Sales and Marketing, New Business, and Administration to support the Steam Business Development Group (SBD) in its mission to retain existing and attract new steam customers. The (1H) Associate Engineer A requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 years work experience in engineering, consulting, and/or energy services. The (2L) Engineer requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and a minimum of 3 years’ work experience in engineering, consulting, and/or energy services. Candidate must have a working knowledge of systems along with technical terms and terminology of central building utility systems and equipment (e.g. heating, cooling, power, cogeneration) and district energy supply systems. Candidate must have computer skills in software systems relevant to the position (such as, Project Management, Database Management, Spreadsheet Software (Excel), and Presentation, Document and Graphics Software). Must be a highly motivated individual who understands and demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence to join the Business Development team. The successful candidate must be highly flexible, have strong initiative, be able to simultaneously coordinate multiple projects, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.




Responsibilities: Assists in preparing (1H) or performs (2L) technical and economic analyses comparing the use of district steam versus on-site alternatives for the heating and cooling of major commercial buildings in Manhattan. In particular, the candidate must be familiar with CHP technologies and associated customer equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and energy supply options. The 1H position will provide initial reviews and critiques of technical and economic analyses prepared by consulting engineers on behalf of building owners and property managers. The 2L position will assess the viability and practicality of analyses presented, determine what additional documentation is required from the Customer and recommend a Company response. This individual also develops reference data and studies of customer behaviors using in house databases and external technical resources. Supports customers on applications for steam service and guidance through the on boarding process for steam service turn on. This will include being a liaison between the customer and Steam Engineering on the schedule, content and technical requirements to obtain a steam service line and build a steam metering station. Performs internal functions involved with bringing on new steam customers including opening and maintaining steam customer files, reviewing steam load letters from consulting engineers, calculating Pure Base Revenue (PBR) estimates, issuing Service Information Requests (SIRs), obtaining signed applications, deposits and rider payments from customers. Manages a portfolio of existing accounts and provides assistance and guidance to associated customers on matters affecting their accounts. Participates in the implementation of rate case programs focused on business development. Currently, this includes the Customer Sited Supply pilot program and the ongoing evaluation and promotion of steam efficiency measures. Capable of creating and delivering presentations both internally and in trade events. Calculates and tracks performance measures related to customer usage and demand. Categorizes performance by relevant indices to contribute to forecasting and business plan development. Monitor and report the status of new and existing steam customer projects through communication with the Steam Engineering and Construction Groups. Promote steam sales through timely and effective interaction with Energy Services Managers and Representatives. Obtain monthly reports from Energy Services for use by SBD. Perform staff support related functions including time reporting, expense account handling, and computer, telecommunications and facilities support services as well as support functions for Section Manager. These responsibilities include assisting with the preparation of annual accounts payable budgets, , preparation and/or review of pertinent materials, and the participation in meetings on behalf of the Manager where appropriate. Prepare materials for the Vice President Staff Meetings and other meetings as requested by Upper Management. Arrange customer related functions including the scheduling of meetings with customers, the arrangements of luncheons, dinners and other affairs with customers/customer groups, and the preparation of customer correspondence. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required. Provide analysis and information to support the Steam Communications Manager’s portfolio of brochures, presentations, and mailings that promote steam services.


Physical Requirements: The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and the position requires occasional business travel for conferences, meetings, seminars, etc.

The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgear, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment is a must. The candidate must be self-motivated, and be able to work both as a team member, as well as independently. Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on control, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and instrumentation systems within the facility while ensuring safe and efficient plant operation.

Responsibilities: The I&C Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instrument, electrical and control systems within the power plant and associated Con Edison facilities. Four years technical experience includes power or chemical plants, paper mills, refineries, manufacturing, or related facilities.  Candidate will also participate in projects involving the implementation of design changes and major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controls and Turbine Control Systems is preferred.


Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., heat, noise, confined spaces) and be medically qualified to wear a respirator. Must have the ability to perform mechanical or electrical maintenance type work. The successful candidate must demonstrate three to five years experience on power plant components and equipment, the ability to install, repair and maintain utility electrical equipment, as well as the ability to read schematic drawings and engineering prints. Candidate must also possess skills in the proper use of testing devices and the ability to troubleshoot problems within electrical components, circuits or equipment. Selected candidate must be able to work weekends, midnight shifts and overtime, when necessary. Candidate will be expected to obtain both the New York State and New York City Asbestos Handler's License as soon as practicable, based on the schedule of required training and testing. Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The selected candidates must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45-60 lbs.) and to do extensive walking, standing and climbing. Candidates must be willing to work in a physically demanding work environment (i.e., work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, in excavations and in hot ambient temperatures). Candidates must be clean shaven and medically approved to wear a respirator to include fit testing for 1/2 face, full face and SCBA respirator use. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Qualifications: Selected candidates for this position must have a high school diploma (or GED) with relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy or other related maritime experience. Knowledge of boiler water and steam cycles is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform operational functions; including the operation of boilers, turbines, generators and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station. Candidate must also be willing to work rotating shifts and perform mechanical maintenance tasks. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering preferred. Candidate must have the ability to perform mechanical and heavy manual labor. Selected candidate must qualify in all of the station's operating posts including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Gas Turbine, PIC, Upper Rover, Electrical switching, and Control Room. The nature of this position requires the selected candidate to perform work involving steam production, working with steam generating boilers, boiler feed pumps and fans, turbine-generators and related auxiliary equipment, water treatment systems, and fuel delivery systems. The candidate will develop and recommend rate case programs focused on business development and direct the activities of contract negotiation with major customers. Responsibilities: The Senior Specialist at 74th Street STEAM Complex will maintain the integrity of the Contractor Admin Process, plans and directs all major overhauls, station outages and low frequency PMs. He/she will be responsible for Maximo and Engage (E-Plan, DATA Splice, and Maintenance Technical Library) along with other administrative and training functions in various computer applications. Various meetings will be conducted as necessary to facilitate activities in the Complex to ensure compliance and cost management.


Physical Requirements: Selected candidate must be capable of working in various indoor and outdoor power plant conditions (i.e., in extreme heat and noise, in confined spaces, at high elevations). The selected candidate must be able to walk/climb/stand extensively, must obtain a TWIC in a reasonable time frame, must possess a valid driver’s license, and must be medically approved to wear a respirator. The selected candidate must be available to work varying hours and schedules to support the station operational needs.
