Qualifications: Staten Island and Electric Services has a position available for an Associate Engineer-A in the Electric Revenue Meter Shop located in Long Island City. To succeed in this position, the right individual must be a self starter, resourceful, and articulate. Must possess a clear sense of accountability, be flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must have a proven track record as a team contributor and an understanding of what it takes to meet customer needs. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers, all levels of management, and union personnel. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Experience in environmental compliance, and measurement technology is highly desirable. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 1-2 years of related work experience is required. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel, is required.




Responsibilities: Provide engineering requirements and specifications for the revenue metering of various types of customers and provide support during implementation. Develop procedures for the test, initialization, and maintenance of metering devices. Ability to work with metering software programs to activate, configure and troubleshoot solid state meters and metering devices. Assist in the development of both hardware and software to be used for state of the art metering devices. Assist shop supervisors in the implementation and review of test procedures and methods, new product evaluation, and the preparation of reports for PSC/Engineering review. Perform fault analysis on solid state metering equipment and associated components. Provide training and guidance for supervision and weekly employees in the application, operation and use of metering equipment and associated software programs. Work with the engineering staff on evaluation testing and developing specifications, procedures and design criteria for metering equipment. Provide technical support to other departments, such as but not limited to, Meter & Test, Revenue Protection, Energry Efficiency, Energy Services and Customer Operations. Perform all work in compliance with applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulatory requirements.


Physical Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license to travel within company service territory. Must be willing to work overtime when required.
