Qualifications: The Learning Center is seeking to hire a highly motivated Instructor professional to join its Gas "Construction" Training Team. Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the importance of personal accountability and commitment to excellence. Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to promote a positive work ethic in support of our Corporate Values. Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible with the ability to handle classroom instructional responsibilities, special assignments and meet deadlines. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations. Candidate must possess the ability to facilitate training programs and group activities/training. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Must demonstrate the ability to sustain a high energy level and enthusiasm while conducting training sessions. Must be knowledgeable in Corporate Environmental and Safety Procedures as well as applicable Gas Specifications. Must have a High School Diploma/GED.



Successful candidate must have a High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant work experience; or an Associate's Degree with 4 years of relevant work experience; or a Bachelor's Degree with 3 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities: Core: Instruct students in Gas Construction skills courses, safe work practices, procedures and equipment associated with specific area of expertise. Design, develop, maintain and administer training programs including lesson plans, training materials, programs, and simulations. Evaluate student performance for promotions and qualifications. Visit operating organizations to perform training on-site and/or to follow-up on the effectiveness of training, and to ensure alignment with new technology and procedures. Serve as an SME to the Gas Organization to support new initiatives as they arise. Ensure that career path training, operator qualifications, and promotional testing requirements are met.



Shift work may be required.

Physical Requirements: • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. • Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess technical and mechanical ability in gas construction covered tasks and should be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in all weather conditions. The candidate must have the ability to read and interpret maps and drawings of the gas and electric infrastructure. Candidate must have a HS Diploma or GED. If you accept a job offer in association with this posting, you will be assigned to any of the operating areas of Gas Operations (Westchester, Queens, Manhattan, or Bronx). If you accept the position of Mechanic B you are expected to progress to the title of Mechanic A and be fully operator qualified within 18 months of accepting the position. Successful candidates must have a valid driver's license and a demonstrated ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. They must also pass a written and practical road test to be administered by Con Edison.

Responsibilities:



The nature of this job requires selected candidates to assist in the maintenance and repair of the gas distribution system in a safe and efficient manner. They will perform mandated inspection programs and respond to emergency calls.Candidates will be expected to work safely and are required to communicate clearly with their coworkers and customers. Selected candidates will be required to access/enter customer premises and have customer contact on a regular basis. The candidates will be expected to provide outstanding customer service and present a positive image of the company to customers. Selected candidates must also be able to work various shifts, rotating shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Knowledge and skill are required, but not limited to, in the following areas: the use of excavating safe work practices; knowledge and the ability to use environmental policies and procedures; ability to perform standard maintenance functions; the use of hand and power tools; ability to safely operate a jackhammer (90lbs. in weight) for extended periods of time; ability to pinpoint leaks in gas mains and services; and ability to obtain certificates of fitness and/or licenses as required. Knowledge and use of a computer is required for this position. Must be able to work under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:



Selected candidates must be capable of pushing/pulling/lifting up to 90lbs in weight, working in confined spaces and underground structures, working in all outdoor weather conditions, and walking/climbing/standing extensively. Candidate must have the ability to safely drive a box utility truck weighing up to and/or in excess of 10,000 pounds. Must be medically approved and fit-tested to wear a respirator. All candidates must also successfully complete a physical ability test, in addition to the required written test and interview.

Qualifications: Gas Operations is seeking to recruit an industrious professional who understands the vital importance of personal responsibility and a Commitment to Excellence in providing exemplary customer service. Must possess strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to foster a team spirited work environment in support of Con Edison’s Corporate Values. Must be well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities to meet deadlines. Bachelor’s degree preferred with two years of work experience in a Con Edison organization OR industry organization required OR High School Diploma with five years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system is required OR High School Diploma with five years of supervisory experience is required. Must have demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office and Mainframe systems and the ability to coordinate with other departments.



Chosen employees from the union that are promoted will be placed on the TEAM program in an operating area outside of their current home organization. Once the TEAM program is completed requests to return to home organizations will be considered based on business needs. Positions are available in all areas of Construction. All applicants must fulfill the requirements of the Operator Qualification for a Gas Construction supervisor within one year of starting in the position. Positions are available in all areas. Some positions will require working a rotating shift..

Responsibilities: Will Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Commit to the Way We Work Principles, and adherence to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. Take special interest in our customers, both within the company and externally. As an employee, you need to commit to these ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers and improve value for all our stakeholders. Will direct and supervise field forces for the physical installation, removal, repair and replacement of gas mains and services in compliance with operating procedures, environmental laws and PSC guidelines. Ensure the safe, timely and efficient installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of gas mains, services and associated distribution equipment of varying pressure and composition in accordance with operating procedures, engineering plans and requirements of regulatory agencies, including all safety standard set by OSHA and U.S. DOT. Ensure that required training for self and field crews are completed in accordance with the training guidelines and title/position specific requirements, including operator qualifications, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), and Documented OJT’s. Ensure that all workout centers and job sites meet the highest standards related to "Environmental Excellence" as well as strict adherence to all City, State and Federal environmental laws, and the Con Edison Work Area Protection guidelines. Ensure that all field crews, both contractors and Company forces, are performing their work efficiently, safely and in accordance with Company specifications and procedures, as well as in strict adherence to PSC and OSHA competent person rules. Ensure the timely completion of system repairs to improve productivity and work practices/procedures. Will supervise field personnel in work activities, coach, schedule, train, and have appropriate safety discussions with personnel. Assign and dispatch field forces to work locations. Develop contingency work plans for crews in case the primary job cannot be worked. Ensure proper oversight of Company forces and contractor crews. Discuss and/or review daily job briefings with the crews, visit workout locations to verify safety and quality of work being performed, as well as to witness critical tasks being performed. Ensure that all required documentation is accurate and completed within a timely fashion, including, but not limited to: emergency sketches, as-constructed drawings, valve reports, leak reports (50-13Rs), time entry, contractor billing documents, and Job Site Safety Evaluations. Ensure that all required documentation is forwarded to the appropriate departments in accordance with Con Edison specification and procedures, such as emergency sketches to Gas Engineering, Control Room, and Supporting Organizations. Check work locations to ensure that all expectations are being met, and all items are accounted for, including but not limited to: proper housekeeping, appropriate PPE, sheeting and shoring as required, plating as required, debris pickup and barricade pickup, vehicle properly equipped, proper work area protection, valid permits and permit posting, proper controls of material, compliance with all work procedures and specifications. Schedule jobs in accordance with priorities as discussed with Field Operations Planner and Section Manager. Ensure proper area restoration upon completion of job, utilizing appropriate backfill techniques in accordance with Local Law 14, backfilling in lifts, and cut backs. Direct field crews at gas incident locations to ensure hazard removal in an expeditious and safe manner. Notify higher supervision on status of sensitive jobs. Enforce disciplinary rules and regulations. Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of cut out procedures for jobs involving L.P. mains greater than 12" and H.P. mains 4" and greater, in accordance with Gas Specifications. Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. The position requires working in all types of weather conditions when in the field, as well as climbing and working in areas of limited space. Must be able to respond to emergency conditions when called. Must be willing to work overtime, on all shifts and be on call 24 hours a day.
