Qualifications: Con Edison, the company that powers New York City, is hiring a Senior Specialist, Writer/Editor, to join its dynamic Corporate Communications team. The Senior Specialist is responsible for developing communication strategy and creating primarily written content for an extensive range of internal and external projects. Through written and multimedia communication, the writer/editor will work across various departments to create content that is relevant, interesting and engaging for the intended audience. The core requirements are: • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Marketing preferred • Minimum 5+ years of professional and relevant writing experience • 2 years’ experience in corporate/business communications • Knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint • Interest in the energy industry is a plus • Ability to edit, fact-check and proofread materials • Experience using analytics platforms • Demonstrated ability to create interesting, clear and creative content for various audiences • Ability to interact professionally at all levels of the company • Detail-oriented and adaptable and flexible to changing conditions




Responsibilities: Our ideal candidate will: • The writer/editor will have a key role in the production of the company’s internal and external publications including developing written materials, speeches and multimedia content • Advanced, strategic development of editorial concepts and campaigns • Superior editorial skills (such as writing, copy editing, fact-checking, proofreading, research, and interviewing? • Get necessary approvals on content • Work collaboratively with video, photography and graphics to assure content is visually appealing • Translate corporate initiatives into meaningful communications that create results for intended audiences and business goals • Firm grasp of corporate communications strategy • Ability to use metrics and analytics platforms to measure success and improve content • Use strong journalism skills to find and tell interesting stories for intended audience • Strong project management skills and ability to develop and enforce deadlines within disparate teams • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required


Physical Requirements: • Must have a valid driver’s license • Must be able and willing to travel within Company’s service territory, as needed. • Must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
