Qualifications: The Con Edison Supply Chain team is seeking a Section Manager for the Materials Management Group who will be responsible for managing the material procurement activities for CECONY and/or ORU as well as certain inventory management responsibilities. The Section Manager will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Finance, Economics, or Engineering or an equivalent field with 8 years related work and supervisory experience. Excellent verbal, communication, analytical and presentation skills and proficiency in the use of MS Office products.



Knowledge of Oracle preferred.

Responsibilities: This is an exciting opportunity as several transformative efforts are underway within Supply Chain including integrated supply solutions, category management and dedicated focus on Lean Six Sigma. This leadership position will be responsible for about $250 million in annual spend in the areas of electrical & industrial MRO, plastic & steel pipe/valves/fittings, chemicals, safety products and tools. The successful candidate will provide strategic, commercial, administrative direction and guidance to the Company’s efforts in the procurement of material and services required for construction and maintenance of underground and overhead gas, steam and electric transmission facilities, electric and steam generating facilities, associated corporate and environmental services. Supervises a team of Procurement Specialists and/or Material Analysts in the procurement activities in areas associated with materials, major equipment, construction, and services as related to capital projects and/or operations and maintenance to maximize potential savings, and develops personnel to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity by instructing, managing, counseling and initiating appropriate training. Responsible for all aspects of material planning, Min/Max processing and inventory management. Reviews manpower requirements, establishes priorities and adjusts workload as required to utilize assigned employees. Provides guidance in development of sourcing strategies and directs the preparation of bid invitations and other related purchasing documents, evaluates vendor proposals and bids and makes purchase recommendations and approves authorizations in accordance with the Delegation of Authority. Supervises the performance of associated commercial and economic evaluations of supplier bids and proposals and responds to inquiries from Auditing, the Independent Monitor, the Ombudsman and governmental agencies. Follows up on audit reports to determine compliance with audit recommendations or implementation of alternate solutions. Performs other related assignments as required by Senior Management.


Physical Requirements: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license . The selected candidate must be able to travel to various Company and supplier locations. The candidate must be available to perform occasional off-hour emergency Supply Chain team leader functions, some of which may require working extended or non-traditional hours.
