Qualifications: Distribution Planning is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Technical Associate (EP) in Area Station Planning. The successful candidate must be energetic and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to our Code of Conduct and The Way We Work. A Bachelor degree in Engineering is required (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) and 1 year full-time work experience, generally following completion of his or her degree. Full-time work experience may include relevant experience gained before college graduation through the Company’s summer or cooperative assignments or similar relevant full-time internships (paid/unpaid) while in college. Strong computer skills including proficiency in the use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project), database management are required. Working knowledge of load flow analysis and/or programs is preferred. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills are also required.



A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Technical Associate (EP) will ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Commitment to the Way We Work Principles, and adheres to the Company’s Standards of Business Conduct and other Company procedures including Environmental, Health and Safety (“EH&S”), Equal Employment Opportunity (“EEO”), discipline, and security. Assist with load flow studies for area substation and subtransmission systems, analyze results and write reports recommending load relief for area substations and subtransmission feeders and 4 kV substations. Perform technical and economic evaluations and work as a team with other Engineers to perform Area Substation and 4 kV Substation Planning Studies. Assist with the preparation of the 4kV load forecast based on data provided by the Demand Forecasting section. Assist with the preparation of the Ten-Year 4kV Substation Load Relief Program and reviews construction budgets for 4kV Substation Load Relief. Performs technical and economic studies for the need and timing of load relief including the installation of new transformers, capacitor additions, breaker and bus replacements, additional transformer cooling installations, ATS and load transfers. Continually assesses measures that will contribute to the optimum economical utilization of existing unit substation facilities. The measures include design criteria, substation load pick-up factor re-evaluation, load diversity, emergency load transfers and distribution bus voltage performance. Assists Senior Engineers in the preparation of Ten-Year and Long-Term Area Substation Load Relief Programs, as required. Assist in evaluating non-wires alternatives for traditional load relief projects and apply benefit cost analysis (BCA) to determine the most economical load relief projects. Provide technical assistance to Electric Operations Regions, System Operation, Substation Operations, and Substation and Subtransmission Engineering.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, and be available off hours (24 hours / day) to respond to emergencies or direct activities when necessary.

Qualifications: The Transmission Planning Department is seeking to recruit highly motivated and dedicated professional individuals to join the team. Selected candidate must have the ability to coordinate basic complex engineering project; must have computer literacy and the ability to direct the usage of electronic computer-based analytical simulations; be experienced working productively and effectively in a team environment; demonstrate ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines; and must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills. The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering, or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering.



The candidate for the Technical Associate position must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience, which may include Engineering Co-Op and Internships, in application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electric transmission system.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will plan the overall development of the Con Edison bulk electric transmission system on both a long-range and a short-range basis. The selected candidate will conduct routine studies, of basic complexity in engineering design and planning, in accordance with applicable Criteria, Rules and Standards, of the bulk electric transmission system that may include short circuit, thermal and voltage analysis. The selected candidate will also modify, and/or write computer programs (or subroutines) required to perform these studies. In addition, the selected candidate will interact with the NYISO as it relates to the maintenance of the Transmission System Modeling Data. The selected candidate may be assigned to work under the supervision of a Team Leader, such as an Engineer, a Senior Engineer or a Technical Specialist.


Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license; and must be able and willing to travel to attend meetings/conferences as required on Company business.



The selected candidate must be able to participate in the Company’s emergency management process or storm plans as required.
