Con Edison’s Information Resources (Application Services) seeks to hire a dedicated technology professional who are highly motivated, resourceful and committed to exemplary customer service. Application Services supports a portfolio of nearly 500 applications that range from small departmental intranet applications to ERPs such as PeopleSoft and Oracle EBS. In order to support our portfolio we utilize a wide variety of developmental tools (programming languages, frameworks, third party software and controls). We strive to keep our technical staff up-to-date on the skills they need to do their jobs, and ensure they are trained. The successful candidate must have good analytical, oral and written communication skills. The candidate must be able to interact with all levels of management, working individually or within a team. Flexibility to work off-hours as required for deploying systems, installation of product upgrades, client support, resolution of production problems, and in response to corporate emergencies is required. The applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Math or Engineering. A minimum of one (1) year IT related experience; preferably in application development or support. Knowledge of a programming language (VB.net, ASP.net, VB, ADO.net), and experience with relational databases (SqlServer, Oracle and Maximo suite of Work and Asset Management products is a strong plus. Experience in business analysis and system architecture and design is a plus. The candidates must be able to multitask: handling multiple assignments/tasks with changing priorities while meeting project deadlines. The position requires the candidate to acquire and achieve a thorough understanding of the application portfolio, the computing infrastructures, and the functions of the other IT supporting organizations.



The candidate is expected to be able to work independently or as part of a team. The position will focus on supporting the Maximo and Contractor Oversight (COS) systems. The candidate will be trained on the Maximo system, IBM’s Reporting Tool (BIRT), COS system, and in JavaScript, ASP.NET, Web Services, Oracle, and SQL Server (2012/2014). For all positions, the candidate will interface with business users, the product vendor, and various groups within the IT department. The candidate is expected to attend project meetings and support other vendor and internally developed computer systems in the group as needed. Training will also be provided in the following areas: • Business Analysis, Vendor Management • Substation Operations, Steam, Construction Services, and Supply Chain business processes

Responsibilities: The candidate will be part of an energetic, motivated, and growing team of professionals responsible for the development of new applications, enhancement of existing systems, and on-going support of the application portfolio used by Con Edison’s Steam, Substation Operations, Supply Chain and Construction Services organization. The current portfolio includes both vendor and internally developed systems that support these Con Edison business functions. The candidate will be required to work with project vendors and their team on new implementations, technical support, and maintenance and upgrade activities. The candidate will work on all phases of new development projects as well as enhancements. Specific responsibilities include requirements gathering, performing complex systems analysis, design, development, testing, user training, and implementation. Candidate will work closely with business users, team members, and other IT resources to analyze existing applications and recommend improvements related to business process or technology infrastructure changes. The candidate will be required to troubleshoot production problems and determine the correct course of action. The candidate will ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for himself/herself. Ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. The candidate will adhere to the Company’s policies on Cyber Security awareness and practice good Cyber hygiene at all times.


Physical Requirements: The candidate must possess a driver’s license and be willing and able to travel within NY City and the Bronx to attend meetings and provide support as necessary. The candidate must be flexible with respect to working off-hours as required for system installations and upgrades, production support or in response to corporate emergencies.
