Qualifications: 74th Street Generating Station is searching for Instrumentation and Controls Technicians with an AAS degree in Electrical Technology or related field or a HS Diploma/GED with 4 years relevant experience. Relevant experience may include chemical and power plants, paper mills, refineries, and manufacturing facilities. Individuals with 4 years Nuclear Navy or aircraft controls experience is preferred. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of: industrial instrumentation, water treatment systems, high voltage switchgears, switchyard equipment operation and maintenance, as well as conduit installation practices. The ability to use electrical and electronic test equipment and work as a team member as well as independently is a must. Candidate will be responsible for performing the necessary testing, repairing, and preventative maintenance in a generating location on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic control systems and instrumentation along with ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. Candidate will also handle projects involving the implementation of design changes, major maintenance activities, including fuel systems, chemical treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment systems. Candidates should have strong oral and written communications skills along with the ability to read and understand process and instrument diagrams as well as mechanical and electrical drawings. Comprehensive knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controls is preferred. The location for this position is: Manhattan, NY












Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The nature of this job requires extensive walking/climbing/standing and the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. in weight. Candidates must be able to work in various weather and station conditions (e.g., heat, noise, confined spaces) and be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications: The candidate for this position must be interested in qualifying as a Mechanic A at the 74th Street Generating Complex. Must have the ability to perform mechanical or electrical maintenance type work. The successful candidate must demonstrate three to five years experience on power plant components and equipment, the ability to install, repair and maintain utility electrical equipment, as well as the ability to read schematic drawings and engineering prints. Candidate must also possess skills in the proper use of testing devices and the ability to troubleshoot problems within electrical components, circuits or equipment. Selected candidate must be able to work weekends, midnight shifts and overtime, when necessary. Candidate will be expected to obtain both the New York State and New York City Asbestos Handler's License as soon as practicable, based on the schedule of required training and testing. Additional knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) is preferable. Welding experience and license is preferable. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The work location for this position is: Manhattan, NY














Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The selected candidates must be able to perform heavy manual labor (push, pull and lift 45-60 lbs.) and to do extensive walking, standing and climbing. Candidates must be willing to work in a physically demanding work environment (i.e., work in all weather conditions, in confined spaces, in excavations and in hot ambient temperatures). Candidates must be clean shaven and medically approved to wear a respirator to include fit testing for 1/2 face, full face and SCBA respirator use. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. This position may involve rotating shifts.

Qualifications:



Selected candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or GED with relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy or other related maritime experience. Knowledge of boiler water and steam cycles is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform operational functions; including the operation of boilers, turbines, generators and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station. Candidate must also be willing to work rotating shifts and perform mechanical maintenance tasks. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering preferred.


Responsibilities:



Candidate must have the ability to perform mechanical and heavy manual labor. Selected candidate must qualify in all of the station's operating posts including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Gas Turbine, PIC, Upper Rover, Electrical switching, and Control Room. The nature of this position requires the selected candidate to perform work involving steam production, working with steam generating boilers, boiler feed pumps and fans, turbine-generators and related auxiliary equipment, water treatment systems, and fuel delivery systems. The use of hands and power tools are required.

Qualifications:



The candidate for this position must have an Associate's Degree or higher in Chemistry/Mechanical Technology, or related field or a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience and HS Degree/GED. Knowledge of practical application to power plant equipment is required in regards to EITHER water treatment processing/chemical and gas sampling for analysis OR thermodynamic theory and fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities:



The candidate will conduct various tests of power plant equipment. These tests can include, but are not limited to: boiler water sampling (pH, salt, and phosphate), lube oil analysis, gas purity, atmospheric safety testing, dew point analysis and environmental monitoring sampling programs, vibration testing on rotating equipment, turbine/boiler thermodynamic testing and auxiliary equipment performance testing. The candidate will also be responsible for compiling routine data and special reports to evaluate trends and efficiency. Must have experience in PC based software (i.e. Microsoft Office programs). Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

The selected candidate must pass an OSHA physical and be medically approved and able to wear a respirator. This candidate must be able to lift and carry material, climb ladders, work outside in various weather conditions and be able to enter confined spaces. A valid driver's license is required.
