Qualifications: 74th Street Steam Complex is looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor. Bachelor's degree in technical area OR a HS Degree/GED plus a minimum of 5 years work experience in a utility environment is required. Must have work experience associated with welding applications, boiler and auxiliary equipment repair, pump and motor repair, pipe fitting, equipment assembly, and blue print reading. Candidate must have excellent leadership and communication skills along with the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of PC/Mainframe systems is preferred.



Possession of an Asbestos Supervisors license is a plus. If candidate does not possess license at time of selection, candidate must obtain license within one year of assignment.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will supervise union personnel in the area of Mechanical Maintenance. In addition, this person will also oversee the contractor custodial supervisor and administer the custodial contract. He/She will be responsible for the safety, productivity and quality workmanship of his/her assigned personnel, for all types of power plant maintenance. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: enforcing all contractual and local work rules, assigning personnel to jobs in accordance with the Weekly Work Schedule, performing administrative tasks in MAXIMO, working with the Planning Supervisor to improve work plans, working over time, weekends and night shifts when needed to cover emergencies, attend the daily management meeting to report job progress, be fully knowledgeable of work scopes and submit Work Permit Requests, control union and management lockers and coordinate the station parking program. The position will require good communications skills, organizational skills and working as a team with other organizations such as EH&S, Planning, Operations and Engineering. The efficient and proper handling of multiple assignments is essential for success in this position. Secondary responsibility is to provide supervision of additional mechanics or electricians to cover vacation periods or to cover open shifts in the event of forced station outages/de-rate.



Directs the safe, environmentally compliant, efficient utilization of employees and materials in the repair and overhaul of power plant equipment such as boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliaries. Plans and lays out work schedules, critical paths, and, procurement of materials and supplies for project and maintenance work. Determines priority of jobs being performed. Ensures compliance with operating orders and work permits

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations, and confined spaces. Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant. Must be medically approved for respirator fit testing and use in a power plant environment. Position requires extensive walking, climbing, and standing. Must have a valid driver's license.

Qualifications: Selected candidates for this position must have a high school diploma or GED with relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy or other related maritime experience. Knowledge of boiler water and steam cycles is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform operational functions; including the operation of boilers, turbines, generators and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station. Candidate must also be willing to work rotating shifts and perform mechanical maintenance tasks. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering preferred. Candidate must have the ability to perform mechanical and heavy manual labor. Selected candidate must qualify in all of the station's operating posts including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Gas Turbine, PIC, Upper Rover, Electrical switching, and Control Room. The nature of this position requires the selected candidate to perform work involving steam production, working with steam generating boilers, boiler feed pumps and fans, turbine-generators and related auxiliary equipment, water treatment systems, and fuel delivery systems. The use of hands and power tools are required.




Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to work in confined areas, in hot and cold environments, and at high elevations. Candidate must also be able to perform extensive walking, climbing, standing, and have the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials (45-60 lbs.). Candidate must also be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications: Steam Operations is looking to hire a talented and motivated individual to join it’s team at 74th Street Steam Complex as an Operating Supervisor (1H) or Shift Supervisor (2L). A High School Diploma with 5-7 years’ work experience in a power plant, US Navy, or merchant shipping environment as applicable is required, however, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with 3-5 years’ work experience in a power plant, US Navy, or merchant shipping environment is preferred. Must have working knowledge of control room procedures, oil or gas fired steam generators, steam turbine generators, gas turbines, high/low pressure steam auxiliary operations, plant trouble shooting, boiler mechanics, blueprint reading, equipment assembly, and pipe fitting. The candidate must have knowledge of safe work practices and procedures, operating orders/work permits (lockout-tagout) and use of appropriate personal protective equipment including SCBAs. Strong communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team are required. The Operating Supervisor (1H) must possess 3-5 years of work experience in a power plant / merchant shipping. Must have the ability to obtain a NYC Stationary Engineer License in 1-2 years of obtaining the position. The Shift Supervisor (2L) must possess 5-7 years of work experience in a power plant / merchant shipping and a NYC Stationary Engineer License. Applicants in possession of a NYC Stationary Engineer License or which are currently in the process of obtaining the license are strongly preferred.




Responsibilities: Produce steam and electric energy for customers by ensuring the safe, efficient and environmentally compliant operations of the generating station. Oversee the operation of plant equipment which may include gas turbine generators, steam turbines, high pressure boilers, high voltage switch gear and auxiliary equipment. Supervise the startup and shutdown of equipment under normal and emergency conditions, and render decisions to remove equipment from service or to continue operations. Communicates with the System Operations Department on unit dispatch, outages, and electrical switching. Reports environmental incidents in a timely manner and prepares appropriate reports. Prepares reports associated with root cause analysis for investigation of critical incidents. Oversees or issues Operating Orders and Work Permits as required ensuring optimal operating conditions. Conduct safety talks and OJTs to reaffirm the critical importance of compliance with all applicable safe work practices, procedures, governmental regulations, and overall development of all direct reports.


Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must be medically approved for respirator and use in a power plant environment. Position requires extensive walking and standing. This individual must be physically able to work in a power plant environment (extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations and confined spaces). Must be willing to work a full rotational shift schedule that includes working on nights, weekends and holidays. Since this position is classified as a safety-sensitive position under the Regulations of the Department of Transportation Research and Special Programs Administration, you are required to successfully complete the DOT drug screening prior to assignment to the position.
