Qualifications: Central Construction is seeking a dedicated professional who is highly motivated, resourceful, and articulates with a strong commitment to excellence to join as a Construction Manager in the Generating Stations, Substations, and Facilities group. The candidate for this dynamic position must have demonstrated leadership skills, a high work ethic, high energy level and be dedicated to the Corporate Mission and Values. Excellent oral, written and contract negotiation skills are required. Must have extensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, hazardous waste management, and OSHA rules and regulations for construction to ensure environmental, health and safety compliance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to effectively interact with contractors, customers and various levels of management. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions. Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and committed to providing exemplary customer service. Must be able to evaluate, prioritize and respond to rapidly changing conditions. Must have significant experience in the review of contract specifications, construction estimates, capital, and human resource budgets. Extensive knowledge/experience in contract administration, contract and material procurement, project management, permit requirements, and their associated processes are required. A working knowledge of Con Edison’s Generating Stations, Substations, or Facilities is an asset. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project and the Central Engineering Computer Systems. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of six (6) years construction experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or other applicable technical field with a minimum of eight (8) years construction experience is required. Must have 6-10 years of supervisory experience in construction management or construction related field with emphasis on major construction projects in Generating Stations, Substations, or Facilities.



A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering is preferred. Knowledge of Con Edison’s contract administration and procurement process detailed in the Contract Administration Manual is preferred. Knowledge of NYC Rules and Regulations, and Building Codes is also preferred.

Responsibilities: The Construction Manager ensures development and implementation of processes to ensure that field inspectors enforce and demand contractors to perform in strict compliance with specifications, applicable safety rules and regulations, and environmental laws. Will review preliminary project documents including appropriation requests, construction specifications and drawings to ensure clarity and project feasibility. Participates in project planning, design, and funding as well as the sequencing of multi contract projects. Provides technical review of construction documents for constructability, design criteria, costs, and the scheduling of work along with engineering and consultants during the construction package review process. Initiates the procurement process by preparing and submitting purchase requisitions for individual contracts. Prepares bid documents including bid lists, special conditions, letters of clarification, and notices to proceed. Conducts pre-bid site visits, works with purchasing and engineering for timely resolution of bidder questions. Interfaces with estimating for bid check submittals, and coordinates with purchasing for bid openings and pre-award meetings. Coordinates the activities of field personnel with that of other departments to maintain strict construction schedules in line with the overall project schedule. Monitors and controls project costs and takes corrective action to minimize deviations. Ensures that contractor payments and change orders to the base contract are properly documented and processed in a timely manner. Provides status reports on budget and schedules as needed and elevates concerns to the proper level of authority. Establish an effective line of communication with senior management of organizations being served by the group’s construction activities to facilitate the open exchange of shared goals and requirements to be accomplished through the completion of the projects. Communicates clearly to assigned personnel the importance of performing their duties safely including diligently employing the use of the appropriate personal protective equipment. Ensures proper technical oversight of field personnel and recommends changes as deemed appropriate. Initiates and conducts meetings, conducts field audits, inspections, and monitors all aspects of projects to ensure successful conclusion. Maintains expertise in environmental and safety procedures and provides leadership in field situations when required. Acts as the liaison for the company with governmental agencies and community groups as needed. Ensures the environment is fully protected in accordance with company Policy and governmental regulations.

Physical Requirements: Position requires walking, standing and climbing around construction activities. Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold climates. Must be able to respond to emergencies. Must have a valid driver’s license to travel between various working locations within the company service territory. The candidates will be required to work off-hours, weekends and holidays as operational needs require and emergencies dictate.

Qualifications: The Construction organization seeks an industrious individual to join its Central Construction Department. The ideal candidate for this position will be well organized, detail oriented, demonstrate a high energy level, and understand the importance of commitment to excellence. Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, make sound business decisions, maintain personal accountability, and work in teams. Must understand and be committed to advocate corporate values for enhancing safety, environment and quality. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills is required; Must have strong presentation skills; Working knowledge of Facilities, Generating Stations, Transmission or Substations Construction is required. The successful candidate will have the ability to monitor progress and expenditures of ongoing projects. Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, Excel, PowerPoint and Word is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or an applicable Technical Field with 3-5 years’ experience in a construction related field; or a H.S. Diploma and a minimum of 8 years work experience in a construction related field is required.



Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Sr. Specialist ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy and government regulations. Will review construction documents, prepare pre engineering studies, review and submit comments on plans and specifications, prepare special conditions, and conduct contractor field visits for new bid-packages. The Sr. Specialist will coordinate activities between the CCI, Construction Inspectors, and contractors. Serve as liaison between support organizations and customers to resolve project issues, expenditures, and control budget cost. Ensures contract documents specifications, plans, and eHasp are being adhered to. Track interprets and communicates the project schedule to various levels of management including executives; Will maintain internal and external communications to ensure timely completion of all projects. Prepares and conducts presentations on projects to executives, management and union personnel. Identifies plans, develops, and implements new ideas to improve process flow, reduce costs, reduce operation risk, and enhance customer service reliability. Will ensure the goals of the organization and the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the department are met.
