Qualifications: Con Edison’s Information Technology Office of The CIO (OCIO) seeks to hire a Department Manager who is a dedicated professional with excellent leadership skills. The position requires a broad understanding of the IT industry, emerging trends and technologies, and will support the continuous development, implementation and communication of the IT Strategy. The Department Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Con Edison’s IT Operating Model, and leading the design, development and measurement of IT’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The individual will ensure there is alignment between the IT Strategy and the Corporate Strategy and Long Range Planning initiatives. The Department Manager is expected to lead the IT Cost Transparency initiative. As part of this initiative, the candidate should be experienced in fostering a culture of financial excellence. To be successful in this role, the Department Manager will partner with Business Finance to develop multidimensional views of IT Cost data (Asset, Investment and service based). The candidate is expected to foster additional partnerships with our clients and users to improve efficiency, increase productivity and eliminate cost. The Department Manager will be responsible for developing an IT Catalog of Services and corresponding cost models and drivers. The candidate must possess excellent leadership, organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills is also required. The candidate must have experience in IT Financial Management with extensive understanding of the related taxonomies, and must possess an understanding of IT Service Management. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or related discipline preferred. Master’s degree preferred. The candidate must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience of any combination of IT Strategic Planning, IT KPI Development, IT Cost drivers and IT Operating Models.




Responsibilities: The Department Manager’s responsibility includes supporting the development of the It Strategy by understanding and applying emergent technologies and industry trends. S/He will manage and communicate complex visions and strategy and IT Cost drivers. The successful candidate will also assess opportunities for cost reduction by developing corresponding allocation methodologies. Drives collaboration across IT and the Business Finance organization to improve the functional use of the Oracle system. The Department Manager will lead IT Benchmark assessments such as Gartner, Unite etc. Must display potential for high performance in the leadership competencies that is most critical to success in a leadership position, including emotional intelligence, business acumen, decision quality, motivating and developing others and drive for results. The candidate will also champion change and effectively manage the adaptation of new ideas, as well as motivate, mentor, empower, and monitor the well-being and success of the team.

The Department Manager is responsible for directing and leading a diverse team to successfully develop and implement business solutions to optimize the value of our AMI IT platform. In this role the Department Manager will provide thought leadership and deliver innovative IT solutions to support the implementation of AMI and extract value from the trove of operational and customer data that AMI provides. Candidates must have significant expertise in technology, experience managing technical teams, and the ability to drive innovation. Candidates are expected to leverage these skills to support assigned production systems and act as project lead manager for the development and implementation of new functionality. Candidates will develop, communicate and influence strategic direction and represent IT with supported lines of business. Candidates are expected to lead their team to develop and manage high quality, integrated IT solutions utilizing strong project management skills. The AMI Department Manager will partner with the AMI Project Business Team, interfacing Business System Development IT Teams, Customer Operations, Electric Operations, and Gas Operations to lead the support and enhancement of assigned systems. The Department Manager is responsible leading the team that will support core AMI systems such as the AMI Head End System (HES) and associated HES modules that will enable integration of various sensors and “smart city” devices into the AMI IT platform. Sample responsibilities will include: • Leveraging primary data, quantitative modeling & financial analysis to optimize decision making • Working extensively with key stakeholders across the company to understand business needs, vet opportunities, and delivery analytically-based recommendations to drive action • Designing experiments and pilots to test hypothesis • Developing and delivering presentations to communicate technical ideals and analytical findings to non-technical peers and stakeholders • Coaching more junior or non-technical peers to structure, drive, and communicate findings from analytical projects • Collaborating with other Data Scientists to develop and apply predictive models to business problems • Implementation of solutions into production Con Edison is in the early stages of its enterprise analytics journey and ACE was formed to help Con Edison realize the value of an information-driven organization sooner by focusing on higher priority initiatives that provide greater business value. There are currently dozens of analytics efforts across the company that require the leadership, skills and organization that this new section will provide. This new section is charged with enabling the Company to become an information-driven organization. This position is a Sr. Systems Analyst level requiring expert knowledge in applying data mining techniques, performing data and statistical analysis, building high quality analytics and prediction platforms to support our business processes. The Data Scientist is responsible for applying innovative analytical and research approaches to help Con Edison tackle complex and strategically important problems. S/he will work to enable the entire organization to continuously develop new capabilities and solutions along the data analytics maturity curve. The successful candidate must have a minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in applied quantitative and qualitative analysis. Utility industry experience preferred. S/he must have experience managing engagements to understand business problems/opportunities, translating needs into analytic projects and applying results. The applicant must have a command of analytic methods, tools and data wrangling techniques. S/he must possess excellent organizational, prioritization and interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to quickly acquire in-depth knowledge of new IT technologies. Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
