Qualifications: Civil/Mechanical Engineering Department is seeking to recruit a highly motivated candidate to join the Gas Engineering Support Section. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong Commitment to Excellence and understands the vital importance of personal accountability. Must be well organized, detail oriented, flexible to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines, set and achieve business goals. Must be able to deliver exemplary customer service and develop a team-spirited work environment in support of the Company's Corporate Values. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with field and support personnel, equipment suppliers, and various levels of management. The candidate will be supporting gas engineering and gas operations, root cause investigation of incidents and field inspections. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or other Engineering degree with fire protection and/or piping experience. Preference will be given to those with the following experience: The candidate must be knowledgeable in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, etc. as a minimum. Preference will be given to those with the following: Gas Engineering, Gas Operations, utility work, industrial, heavy commercial or petrochemical industry experience. The candidate must have a working knowledge of gas codes (NYCRR Part 255, DOT 49 CFR Part 192), NFPA, Fire Codes or governmental permitting regulations.



ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of applicable engineering work and design experience. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of applicable engineering work experience. P.E. License is preferred. Project management experience preferred. Preference will be given to those with the following: Gas Engineering, Gas Operations, utility work, industrial, heavy commercial or petrochemical industry experience. Knowledge of pipeline welding, non-destructive testing, and pipeline construction for all candidates is also preferred.

Responsibilities: The engineer will be responsible for the complete management of selected projects; design and review of gas transmission and distribution systems, including design, equipment, and installation specifications, bid preparation and evaluation, appropriations, scheduling, construction and acceptance testing. The engineer will provide technical support and guidance to operations, maintenance and construction personnel, as well as providing direct field support in response to failures and emergencies. The engineer will make technical and economical evaluations to determine the best design features for the gas systems. The Candidate will be required to travel to all Con Edison sites requiring support.



A valid driver's license is required. Travel within service territory required. Selected candidate must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The working environment consists of both office and field settings. Field work may require extensive walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and need to work in environments with exposure to noise, heat, confined spaces, heights, etc. Must be able to wear respirator, full body fall protection and associated required PPE.

Physical Requirements: A valid driver's license is required. Travel within service territory required. Selected candidate must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions. The working environment consists of both office and field settings. In lieu of a BS in Engineering, a Bachelors degree in applied science (Physics, Chemistry, etc.) PLUS a Masters of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering will be accepted. Requires strong knowledge and/or experience in power plant and/or gas operations/controls and process controls. Requires project team oversight or multidiscipline project engineering experience. Demonstrated experience in control valves, shutdown valves, flow instruments, level instruments etc. or knowledge of DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA or Advance Process Control systems generally incorporated in major gas projects is essential. Computer proficiency required.



ENGINEER (2L): Requires 3 years of related engineering experience to include instrumentation and controls. SENIOR ENGINEER (2H): Requires 8 years of related engineering experience to include instrumentation and controls. Requires the ability to work independently, providing oversight, direction and in a developmental role for the department.

Responsibilities: The Control Systems Engineer will interface with Gas Engineering and Operations. The Control Systems Engineer will provide engineering support, modeling, studies, and project development for the gas facilities and operations by responding to Engineering Service Requests (ESRs), developing project scoping documents, appropriation of capital projects, engineering and design of capital projects, construction specification preparation, providing construction support, developing functional test procedures and system descriptions, start-up and commissioning of projects, and performing project close-out responsibilities. The Control Systems Engineer will provide routine support to Gas Engineering and Gas Operations in responding to events in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and development of corrective actions; ensure all control system designs (including conduit design) for regulators, gate stations, etc.; perform, execute and review all gate station control system installations; capture and formally record all electric A/C supply and communication wiring and conduits; compile a formal ROV documented design with PIDs, wiring standards, point to point schematics, etc. In all aspects of the position, the Control Systems Engineer will ensure that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations.

Qualifications: Civil/Mechanical Engineering seeks dedicated, dynamic, and innovative individuals to join the Gas Engineering Support Section. Strong organizational, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills are essential. To succeed in this position, the right candidates must be self-motivated, resourceful and articulate. These individuals will possess a “can-do” attitude, have a clear sense of accountability and understand what it takes to meet customers’ needs. Experience and expertise in application and development of technical principles and practices associated with Electrical Utility systems is required. Experience shall be specific to the electrical engineering and application of Power Systems, Substations and Transmission facilities. Experience with conceptual design, system planning and electrical analysis is highly desirable. Strong oral and written communications skills are required for managing projects, making presentations and project conflict resolution. Requires either a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, or a Bachelors of Engineering (any major) with a Masters in Electrical Engineering. Computer skills are essential. Must be well-versed with Class 1 Division 1 applications. Professional Engineering license preferred for any electrical work in gas facilities requiring approval from NYC Building Code and preference will be given to the candidate who is familiar with the New York City Department of Building electric code, and able to apply for Department of Buildings electrical permits.



Engineer (2L): Must have minimum 3 years applicable experience. Senior Engineer (2H): Must have minimum 6 years’ experience with a Masters degree, or 8 years experience with a Bachelors degree. Experience should include electrical design of power generating stations, analysis or operation of power systems.

Responsibilities: Will evaluate project requirements; prepare scopes of work, design criteria, construction packages, economic analysis, authorization and appropriation funding requests and engineering specifications. Coordinate projects with users and construction and provide field support. Monitor and report on project status, schedules and costs. Interface with or direct project work teams of discipline engineers and designers. Address outage, safety and environmental constraints as required. Prepares or directs the preparation of equipment, cable and accessory purchase specifications; reviews and accepts manufacturer’s proposals and drawings. Serves as Lead Discipline Engineer with decision-making capability, meets with other departments on the erection, testing, maintaining and supplying consultation for the installation of equipment. Responds to emergency calls by operating departments and makes field decisions in his area of responsibility.



Environment and Safety: Ensures Company environmental and safety procedures and goals are incorporated into the project designs. Creates the EH&S Checklist for project installation packages. Manages projects in Project Explorer.
