Qualifications: The AMI Implementation Team IT is seeking to hire a dynamic and motivated Systems Specialist to join its Architecture and Integration Services team. As Con Edison continues to deploy smart meters throughout our territory, the need for technology to drive business operations continues to grow at a rapid rate. The union of business operations, technical capabilities and standardization of IT solutions will be critical to fulfill this need. The Systems Specialist will be responsible for driving the design and implementation of architecture standards for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. The Systems Specialist must demonstrate a high energy level, understand the importance of Commitment to Excellence and have the ability to champion and initiate change. The candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years experience (7 or more preferred) in designing, implementing and operating technologies in one or more IT domains (e.g. applications, data, infrastructure, process change management). At least 3 years experience managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast pace environment with frequently changing priories to meet customer and operational needs. The candidate must have at least 3 years experience leading cross functional teams to gather requirements, design and propose solutions, and execute implementation to meet customer needs. The ability to leverage buy-in and champion change to existing processes and technical change is critical to the success of this role. Thorough understanding of Windows and Linux Operating Systems, application and database design and general troubleshooting best practices are required. Knowledge of Con Edison SDLC (Waterfall/Agile) methodologies required. Experience in evaluating new technology concepts and products preferred. Knowledge of Cyber Security concepts related to system design and implementation preferred. Experience in implementing IT systems and conducting architecture and integration services are preferred. This role will be vital to the success of the project, in addition to supporting other large-scale corporate initiatives that have a direct impact onto the AMI environment. The Systems Specialist must possess excellent facilitation, project management, communication, and technical skills. The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast pace environment with flexibility and organization is essential. The Systems Specialist will represent the AMI project in dealings with customers and vendors, and render sound business decisions as necessary. The Systems Specialist will mentor and train junior analysts to instill an environment of continuous improvement. The Systems Specialist may be required to supervise employee and contractor workforces as necessary and directed.



The candidate will be a team player who understands the critical role of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure project. Knowledge of infrastructure design, systems integration, database design, performance tuning and/or system administration is a plus. Knowledge of business operations applicable to the AMI platform is also a plus.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for assisting in integration and architecture functions related to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project. The Systems Specialist will coordinate and document functional and technical workstreams to evaluate requirements and build technical designs for efforts that will enhance or integrate with the AMI platform. The Systems Specialist will assist in the development of roadmaps for the integration of business processes, applications, technologies and infrastructure, including vendor and internally developed applications. The Systems Specialist will track work items for project milestones and offer assistance to meet deadlines and assist in development of superior technical solutions to meet or exceed customer needs. In addition, the Systems Specialist will assist in developing post-production support framework(s) to assist with activities required after release deployments. The qualified candidate will be expected to troubleshoot and interact with vendors and various Information Technology support personnel. The Systems Specialist will be required to document design standards, present and obtain buy-in from key stakeholders on architecture related decisions, and establish raport amongst business and technical partners. The Systems Specialist will be required to communicate with various groups including leadership to discuss project milestones, technical solutions and roadmaps to drive architecture and integration services forward for the project.


Physical Requirements: The applicant must adhere to all safety, health and environmental Company policies and take the necessary required training when appropriate. The candidate must have a valid state driver’s license. Candidate must be able and willing to travel within the Company's service territory as needed.
