Candidates with a Master’s degree in a related discipline such as Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental, Industrial Science, Engineering or Biological Science must have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the EH&S field is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline will be considered with a minimum of 4 years of Environmental, Health and Safety experience. Responsibilities: The successful candidate ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed and for projects where he/she is providing direct coverage. Develops, implements, and manages safety, health and environmental programs for Company and/or contractor employees. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and that the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Conducts and oversees field audits of Company crews and the contractor work force. Conducts post-event meetings. Manages and prioritizes corrective actions. Assesses the effectiveness of EH&S efforts, documents deficiencies, and coordinates with field groups to aggressively pursue global corrective actions and preventive measures with the goal of protecting the worker, the general public and the environment. Develops performance standards, criteria, and goals in conjunction with the field groups. Continually measures performance and reports on status and attainment of goals. Serves as mentor, coach, and advisor to EHS Project Specialists, Senior Specialists, Specialists, and GOLD Associates. Serves as lead on work groups and committees to be a catalyst for change, ensure procedure compliance, and develop EHS programs and policies. Design, implement, drive and improve EHS programs and processes to ensure that key indicators, management letter items, and development areas and plans for improvement are met. Develop and implement new Safety Strategies, Work Process Improvements, and Resource Conservation Initiatives, which have Company-wide implications. May perform other related assignments as required.

Physical Requirements: Must pass OSHA medical and fit test for respirator use. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to climb in and out of excavations and electrical structures and climb scaffolding. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Must be willing to travel to various locations and be prepared to respond to emergencies and work weekends if needed.

Work experience in an operating power plant is preferred.

Responsibilities: The Senior Specialist will provide field support to ensure compliance with all environmental & safety regulations, programs, and procedures that is consistent with the Company's commitment to EH&S Excellence. The primary subject matter areas include: oil (PBS, MOSF, SPCC, Pipeline) , waste management, PCB, chemical, air, water, asbestos, and land use and support within various safety program areas such as lock out/tag out, confined space, fire protection, materials handling and industrial hygiene. Conducts compliance reporting, inspections and tests, incident investigation, program implementation, documentation, and project oversight. Presents training to Station personnel in various safety & environmental subject matter areas. Reviews operations and maintenance activities to ensure regulatory compliance. Reviews permit preparation and maintenance, procedure development and maintenance, incident report development, and various additional recordkeeping activities. Ensure that all personnel at the facility use sound EH&S practices in accordance with Company policy and government regulations.

In addition, the candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, and work well in teams. EH&S-related work experience considered a plus.



At least 3 years of experience in relevant areas, such as Electric Operations, energy transmission and distribution, power generation, steam and gas systems, EH&S, Emergency Management, Customer Operations is preferred. At least 2 years of demonstrated work experience in a control center/on a control desk is also preferred. Current or prior work experience with a regulatory agency, emergency services or military service is a plus. Demonstrated experience working with the Environmental Management Information System (EMIS) and the Safety and Health Information Management System (SHIMS) is a plus. The candidate must demonstrate a strong familiarity and high proficiency with MS Office products. The candidate must also demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. The candidate must also demonstrate the desire to work in the environmental, health and safety field; demonstrate an understanding of company operations and have an ability to learn new technologies. A working knowledge of Federal, New York State and local laws and regulations relative to EH&S and emergency management is also required.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be to support the company’s focus on environmental, health and safety excellence by staffing a 24/7 centralized incident reporting desk to take reports of EH&S-related incidents, including oil and chemical releases, injuries, illnesses and motor vehicle accidents. In conjunction with the Central Information Group (CIG), the candidate will help meet regulatory reporting requirements for applicable incidents, will provide expert guidance on EH&S issues by acting as a 24/7 hotline for the company, and as a secondary function, provide field response and support to operating business units for EH&S incidents and events. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will focus on the following: Ensure effective reporting of company environmental, health and safety incidents in accordance with company policy and governmental regulations. Make critical notifications to key company, regulatory/ governmental agencies in an accurate and timely manner. Understand the vital importance of making appropriate timely notifications during routine and non-routine events. Provide expert technical and regulatory oversight and guidance in the areas of oil management programs and OSHA emergency response programs. Staff a 24-hour EH&S operation that is able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions under pressure. Provide general expertise on EH&S issues and specifically provide Subject Matter Expert expertise on regulatory reporting, notification, response, remediation and prevention of oil spills and hazardous substance releases, as well as initial response and observation associated with significant safety related incidents. Respond to regulatory inquiries and issues, and communicate with regulators as needed. Conduct regular tests on various emergency communications and reporting systems as well as being able to gather and disseminate information regularly via various reports. Working with the EH&S Response Team, actively participate in the reporting, notification, response, remediation and prevention of oil spills and hazardous substance releases, as well as initial response and observation associated with significant safety related incidents. Perform a regulatory liaison function during spill response and clean-up activities.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed. Must be willing to work a fixed post, 12-hour shift, full rotating position, which may also require working extended hours during emergency situations as conditions warrant.

Responsibilities: The EHS ChemLab Specialist/Sr. Specialist will ensure the implementation of company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with company policy and governmental regulations. Ensures the ChemLab maintains subject matter expertise in analysis and environmental sampling by developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and training in accordance with Federal, State and City regulations and Company policies. The Sr. Specialist will have increased focus on long term projects.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel throughout the Company service territory and other locations. Must be able to visit field sites in all types of weather conditions, work on lengthy projects, and climb into trenches and manholes. Position may require availability and work on rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
