Qualifications: EH&S Operations is seeking a dynamic and responsive individual to join the EH&S team supporting Brooklyn/Queens Electric Operations as a Specialist. The candidate must be highly motivated, demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence, and understand the importance of personal accountability. The candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with customers, regulatory agencies, and various levels of management and union personnel. The candidate must possess interpersonal skills to implement plans, programs, strategies that effectively protect workers and have the ability to influence others in order to improve work practices and processes. The candidate must be able to deliver exemplary customer service and develop a work environment that supports teamwork, honesty, integrity and openness and The Way We Work Principles. Must demonstrate a broad understanding of the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to Electric Operations. Must be committed to fostering a Zero Harm and 100% Compliance Culture, Diversity and Inclusion, Achieving Operational Excellence, Demonstrating an effective Cost Management Culture and Enhancing the Customer’s Experience. The candidate must have knowledge of Con Edison's Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Procedures and General Environment, Health and Safety Instructions, as well as familiarity with Electric Operations procedures. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products and possess the ability to quickly become proficient with computer systems including SHIMS and EMIS. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate that they have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline plus two years of field experience (Preferred), OR an Associate’s degree in a technical discipline plus four years of field experience, OR a High School diploma/GED plus five years of field experience. Bachelor's degree and working familiarity with regulatory requirements underlying the Company's various EH&S procedures are preferred.




Responsibilities: Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Verify, and facilitate as necessary, implementation of Company EH&S programs for employees whose work is directed by Electric Operations. Perform regular observation of field activities to assess compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, and reports results as directed. Ensure implementation of necessary corrective actions to address identified deficiencies. Work with Electric Operations to integrate human performance initiatives into work practices to help achieve operational excellence and prevent incidents. Oversee the job site observation activities performed by designated field representatives to ensure that evaluation criteria is applied consistently, and that interactions between the observers and operating personnel are value-added. Provide immediate response to EH&S-related incidents and initiate documentation of circumstances and conditions; support subsequent incident analysis and development of lessons learned. Help prepare reports and supporting materials to communicate incident analyses, compliance trends, performance information, regulatory issues, and other subject matter area-specific discussion documents. These materials will include regular job observation result compilations, situation summaries, and driver improvement information, and root cause analyses. Attend local meetings to ensure that EH&S information is appropriately communicated by supervision and amplified by the EH&S representatives as necessary to promote audience retention. Prepare and present topic-appropriate materials to communicate EH&S-related information and requirements to mixed audiences that may contain field employees as well as various management levels. Research and learn details necessary to fully understand and assess all EH&S implications associated with field work in Electric Operations. Coordinate and participate in the performance of regular hazard assessments to ensure that all potential EH&S liabilities associated with Electric operations work activities have been identified and appropriately addressed. Demonstrate ongoing development in knowledge of EH&S-related requirements, in order to properly act as advice and counsel for all EH&S related issues. Respond to emergency situations and provide support as necessary to help ensure compliance with all applicable requirements. Engage and support a positive culture of teamwork, honesty, integrity, and openness at all times. Document incident and other safety-related information in the company’s Safety and Health Information Management System (SHIMS). Administer and coordinate other environmental, health and safety-related programs and initiatives as directed.


Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver's license. Must be able to visit field sites and work in extreme cold, heat, and inclement weather conditions; some walking, ladder climbing, stooping, and bending required. Must be able and willing to wear PPE and be medically cleared to wear a respirator.

Act in the capacity of local Respiratory Protection Program Administrator. Assist in environmental response to incidents such as spills and releases so that reporting, clean-up response operations and waste management are conducted safely and in compliance all requirements. Administer and coordinate other environmental, health and safety-related programs and initiatives as directed. Additionally, the position will include understanding in the environmental area of; • monitoring EMIS on a routine basis to ensure reports contain accurate information, spills are reported timely, and cleanup are performed properly • provide guidance/assistance to Operations in sampling and cleanup of complex spill incidents • conduct environmental investigations (e.g., late spill notification, improper spill cleanup, improper waste characterization, mishandling of waste shipment and disposal, etc.); • assist Operations in reviewing and correcting errors in hazardous waste manifests • monitor Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) activities • coordinate with Operation personnel the annual update of chemical inventories as required under the Community Right-To-Know Law • oversee the Lead Stabilization Program inspections to ensure that they are completed in Brooklyn/Queens by EH&S staff • perform other related assignments as required and investigate and resolve various types of environmental issues as concerns arise

Physical Requirements: Meet basic Con Edison fitness for duty requirements Maintain availability to support activities on a 24x7 basis in accordance with an established duty schedule ¬Be able to wear air-purifying and supplied-air respiratory protection. Be able to enter electric enclosed spaces and perform EH&S-related work Candidates must be willing and able to travel within the Con Edison service territory as required.

Qualifications: Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Systems seek a dedicated, dynamic, and innovative individual to join its management team. This individual must recognize the importance of commitment to excellence, demonstrate a high energy level, and be flexible and able to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines. Strong organizational, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills are essential. To succeed in this position, the right candidate must be self-motivated, resourceful and articulate. Knowledge of Company policies and procedures required. Strong planning and management skills, including the ability to effectively interact with and motivate others toward achieving organizational goals, are required. Strong oral and written communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.



A candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years Quality Assurance or in depth knowledge of EH&S experience will be considered for the Sr. Specialist (2L) title level. This candidate would be expected to fully understand EH&S standards, processes and principles and independently lead quality improvement reviews. It is preferred that this candidate has completed ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor or equivalent. Lead Auditor certifications in quality and/or environmental management systems. Minimum requirements for the Specialist (1H) title level include a high school diploma and 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or in depth knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations, standards, processes and best practices., OR a Bachelor’s degree (related field preferred, e.g., Quality Management, Engineering, EH&S) and 2 years general work experience.

Responsibilities: The Specialist/Sr. Specialist will be expected to work under the direction of other quality employees or supervisor to primarily support the identification and analysis of EH&S processes. Specialist/Sr. Specialist shall be able to develop corrective actions and quality improvement projects for implementation. The Specialist/Sr. Specialist will have the flexibility to utilize industry accepted quality tools, standards and processes. A demonstrated ability to implement an EH&S quality review process that utilizes examining and evaluating data, questioning, and synthesizing information to determine the quality system’s adequacies, deficiencies and corrective actions. The work involves doing process and program inventories, data trending and analyzing, prioritizing quality reviews/audits, interviewing process/program owners, analyzing and compiling review data and information, writing reports and findings, etc. This will be done in part based upon international quality standard ISO 9001 and environmental management systems standard ISO 14001, among others. The Specialist/Sr. Specialist would also be involved in risk management analysis, in particular as it relates to processes and programs, and support the other work of the Section as needed.


Physical Requirements: Position requires a valid driver’s license for travel within service territory, as needed. The position requires being available for system emergencies (e.g., CERC, system emergencies).
