Qualifications: Selected candidates for this position must have a High School Diploma or GED with relevant Power Plant, Merchant Marine or United States Navy other related maritime experience. Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering preferred. Knowledge of boiler water and steam cycles is preferred. Candidate must be able to perform operational functions; including the operation of boilers, turbines, generators and all auxiliary equipment in a steam generating station. Candidate must also be willing to work rotating shifts and perform mechanical maintenance tasks. Candidate must have the ability to perform mechanical and heavy manual labor. Selected candidate must qualify in all of the station's operating posts including, but not limited to: Water Treatment, Gas Turbine, PIC, Upper Rover, Electrical switching, and Control Room. The nature of this position requires the selected candidate to perform work involving steam production, working with steam generating boilers, boiler feed pumps and fans, turbine-generators and related auxiliary equipment, water treatment systems, and fuel delivery systems. The use of hands and power tools are required.














Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Candidates must be able to work in confined areas, in hot and cold environments, and at high elevations. Candidates must also be able to perform extensive walking/climbing, standing and have the ability to push/pull/lift equipment and materials (45-60 lbs.). Candidates must also be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications: 59th Street Station seeks to recruit an industrious, strong leader to become a member of its management team. Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years work experience in a power plant or merchant shipping environment. In lieu of a degree, candidate must possess a High School Diploma with 5-7 years work experience in a power plant or merchant shipping environment. Candidate must possess prior experience as a shift supervisor in power plant. NYC Stationary Engineer's License is required or must be obtained within two years. Experience and knowledge associated with boiler and auxiliary system operations, control room operations, safety and training administration, plant start-up and oil transfer operations required. Must have knowledge of safe work practices and procedures, operating orders, work permits and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Must be well organized, detail oriented, be able to exercise independent judgment, render sound business decisions, flexible to handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Must possess strong communication and presentation skills, and have the ability to effectively interact with union and management personnel. Must have knowledge of MS Office and PC/mainframe systems.




Responsibilities: The Operations Trainer will develop and schedule on-the-job and formal training courses for Station personnel. Operations Trainer must be able to conduct training courses, develop training material and deliver field instructions to operate station equipment to supplement formal training for operations, and coordinate vendor training. Develop processes and programs to ensure effective operations around corporate, departmental and location policies/ procedures. Develop and write standard operating procedures for Operations Department. Ensures compliance with regard to emergency response training programs. Perform liaison responsibilities by interacting with other company training personnel and emulating their best practices. Operations Trainer will assume the responsibility of the Shift Supervisor to cover the watch as operational needs may dictate.


Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to work in a power plant environment with extreme heat conditions, noise, high elevations and confined spaces. Must be able to work under conditions of high temperatures and at high elevations in the plant. Must be medically approved for respirator fit testing and use in a power plant environment. Position requires extensive walking, and, climbing, and standing. Must be willing to work a full rotational shift schedule that includes working on weekends and holidays.

Qualifications: The candidate for this position must have an Associate's Degree or higher in Chemistry/Mechanical Technology, or related field or a minimum of four years equivalent technical experience and HS Degree/GED. Knowledge of practical application to power plant equipment is required in regards to EITHER water treatment processing/chemical and gas sampling for analysis OR thermodynamic theory and fluid dynamics. The candidate will conduct various tests of power plant equipment. These tests can include, but are not limited to: boiler water sampling (pH, salt, and phosphate), lube oil analysis, gas purity, atmospheric safety testing, dew point analysis and environmental monitoring sampling programs, vibration testing on rotating equipment, turbine/boiler thermodynamic testing and auxiliary equipment performance testing. The candidate will also be responsible for compiling routine data and special reports to evaluate trends and efficiency. Must have experience in PC based software (i.e. Microsoft Office programs). Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.



Additional:

The normal working hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm. However, certain periodic and emergency circumstances will involve work at nights and on weekends and/or overtime beyond regular 8 hours shift.




Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must be capable of working in a power plant environment which includes noise, heat and working at high elevations. Candidate must pass an OSHA physical and be medically approved and able to wear a respirator. This candidate must be able to lift (up to 50 lbs. in weight) and carry materials, climb ladders, work outside in various weather conditions, and be able to enter confined spaces. A valid driver's license is required.
