Qualifications: The candidate for this position must possess a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL). The candidate must also have the ability to drive various commercial vehicles with air brakes. The nature of this position requires general pickup/delivery of materials within, but not limited to, Con Edison's service territory (candidates familiar with the service territory are preferred); loading/unloading vehicles and securing cargo. The candidate must possess the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations along with the ability to read and follow a map. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.



Additional:

The selected candidate will be required as part of their career path, to obtain a Class A license, metal coil endorsement as well as a Hazardous Material, Tanker, and NY State Escort license. CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF THEIR VALID CDL WHEN REQUESTED, PRIOR TO THE WRITTEN EXAM. ALL CANDIDATES MUST PASS A DRIVING AND WRITTEN ROAD TESTS, WRITTEN PLACEMENT AND APTITUDE TESTS ALONG WITH A DEPARTMENTAL INTERVIEW.






Responsibilities:


Physical Requirements: Selected candidates must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions, do extensive walking, climbing, and standing and be able to push/pull/lift 45-60 pounds unassisted. The successful candidate must be able to work all shifts, as this department works on a 24/7 basis.

Qualifications: The selected candidate for the position must have a minimum of three years' experience in building trades and the ability to read schematic and engineering prints. The candidate must also have knowledge and skill in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry and painting. In addition, the selected candidate must be able to successfully complete the necessary asbestos courses as quickly as possible. Experience in rotating equipment and mechanical repair is a plus. EPA universal certification, R410A Technician certification, OSHA 10, FDNYC COF's, F-60 and G-60 a plus. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.



Additional:

Candidate who obtains this position must qualify and advance through career path training to Mechanic A. If you accept a job offer in association with this posting, you will be assigned to any of the operating areas of Facilities (Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manhattan or Westchester).

Physical Requirements: The selected candidate must be capable of lifting 40-60lbs in weight and working in confined spaces. The candidate must be able to work at high elevations and in outdoor weather conditions. The selected candidate must also be able to perform extensive walking, standing, lifting and bending and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications: Facilities and Field Services seek to hire a highly motivated professional to join its Transportation Operations Team in various locations. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a service-oriented work ethic with experience in managing multiple tasks and changing priorities. The individual must understand the vital importance of Commitment to Excellence and providing exemplary customer service. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related work experience, and Associate’s degree and 4 years related work experience, or a High School degree or GED and 5 years of related work experience. The candidate is required to have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to handle multiple assignments, and proficiency in MS Office products. Knowledge of maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment, EZ-VMS and Auto Ease is preferred.



Some years of technical experience in the operation, maintenance, repair and inspection of mobile and power operated equipment. Ability to secure licenses and certificates of proficiency as required.

Responsibilities: Ensures implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs for employees whose work is directed. Ensures that safe work practices are followed and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations. Ensures work activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner and that repairs performed conform to manufacturer's specifications. Approves expenditures for labor, contractor services, material supplies and equipment within authorized limits. Plans, organizes, schedules and assigns personnel to meet operating requirements. Oversees the day to day operation of local vehicle fuel station. Participates in various automotive committees/task forces and provides feedback relative to quality and productivity improvements, training, requirements, etc.


Physical Requirements: Must have a valid driver's license, able to travel the Con Edison territory, and work overtime and emergency duty if needed.
