Qualifications: The Transmission Planning Department is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join its NERC Reliability Compliance team. The ideal candidate for this position must have fundamental knowledge and understanding of power transmission, distribution and generation principles. In addition, the ideal candidate must possess familiarity with electric reliability planning concepts. Strong organizational and administrative skills are essential. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and have successful experience working in a team environment. Must demonstrate ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to exercise independent judgment. Must demonstrate ability to learn and apply new topics. Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated performance of value-added assignments is required. Requires a BS degree in Engineering and relevant work experience as follows: ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H) – Requires 2 years work experience to include one year applicable engineering experience. ENGINEER (2L) – 3 years applicable engineering experience. SR. ENGINEER (2H) – 8 years applicable engineering experience. Experience in drafting technical procedures, business process documents or specifications for the electric power industry is preferred. Familiarity with ISO or RTO rules is preferred. Familiarity with SharePoint or other document management and archiving software a plus.



Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards preferred. Preferred knowledge of the Con Edison electric service area transmission, distribution and power generating facilities. The S&TO organization pays particular attention to the performance records of all applicants. Applicants who do not meet this threshold may not be considered.

Responsibilities: Perform all day-to-day technical and administrative tasks associated with the Con Edison NERC Reliability Compliance Program. Prepare audit document packages for submittal to the NPCC and participate in on-site, off-site and spot check audits. Ensure the timely, accurate and well-documented submittal of data to NPCC. Under the guidance of the Section Manager, review data submittals proposed by Company organizations to ensure adequacy and alignment with relevant NERC standards. Assist Company organizations in the development of compliance violation Mitigation Plans. Monitor and report on status of Mitigation Plan implementation. Support various departments within Con Edison to ensure compliance with NERC reliability standards. Write procedures to detail and identify the functions of the Compliance Program. Become proficient in all NERC Standards and present and explain the NERC Standards to other Company organizations. Make compliance program presentations to various Company organizations and at the executive level.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to travel to various Company locations and to other companies if required. Must be available to travel out-of-town (including Canada) and represent the Company at ISO, NPCC and NERC meetings. Must have valid driver's license.

The candidate must have experience drafting technical procedures or business process documents. The candidate must have a working knowledge and understanding of power transmission and generation principles. Strong organizational and administrative skills are essential. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and have successful experience working in a team environment. Must demonstrate ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to exercise independent judgment. Must demonstrate ability to learn and apply new topics. Candidate must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and one year of relevant work experience.



Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards preferred. Familiarity with ISO rules is preferred. Candidate familiarity with SharePoint, RSA Archer or other document management and archiving software is a plus. Knowledge of the Con Edison electric service area transmission and power generating facilities preferred.

Responsibilities: Work on compliance activities associated with the Transmission Planner, Transmission Operator, Transmission Owner, Distribution Provider, Generation Owner and Generation Operator registrations. Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to prepare audit documents including compliance evidence and Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets. Provide input to NERC Standards under development and coordinate comments from SMEs. Support Company activities associated with the NERC Reliability Assurance Initiative, including preparation of NPCC Inherent Risk Assessments and NPCC Internal Control Evaluation documentation. Participate in NERC and NPCC Standards development activity as a ballot body representative. Report on system events to NPCC and NERC. Support the tracking for all NERC Alerts using the Action Tracking System. Implement and maintain the Archer Compliance Tracking System for the NERC Compliance program. Coordinate NERC compliance training for SMEs and officers. With Manager’s input, coordinate the distribution of NERC compliance and technical documents. Support activities associated with Con Edison's participation in the North American Transmission Forum. Become proficient in all NERC Standards and present and explain the NERC Standards to other Company organizations. Make compliance program presentations to various Company organizations and at the executive level.
